Chapter 203: Chapter 198 : Nen Exorcism!!
In the dense forest outside the Limeiro Castle, an ancient and mysterious ritual was taking place.
Abengane, protected by the "Forest Spirits," had just completed the ritual to remove a curse from Germain. The process was similar to before, so it doesn't need to be repeated here.
This time, the curse being removed was "Negative Trait: Greed."
Compared to "Negative Trait: Kleptomania," this one had a higher chance of affecting Germain, so it was prioritized for removal.
After finishing the ritual, Abengane visibly breathed a sigh of relief.
This round of exorcism was much better than previous attempts; at least the number of "Nen Beasts" hadn't increased.
This made him feel much more at ease—maybe this job wasn't as difficult as he had thought.
As these thoughts crossed his mind, he walked toward Germain.
This time, Abengane had volunteered to perform the exorcism, showing an enthusiasm that even surprised Germain.
Bisky's description of Abengane as "very respectful" was indeed fitting.
"Mr. Germain, the next exorcism will have to wait until I'm fully recovered," Abengane said, with an almost guilty tone.
He felt like a typical worker, working hard yet worrying if his employer might be dissatisfied and dock his pay.
But Germain was neither a demon nor a vampire. He replied, "Understood. Maybe Bisky's Nen ability can help you recover faster. You can visit her after some time."
"I understand. Thank you for the advice."
Hearing that Germain wasn't rushing him for the next exorcism, Abengane felt even more at ease.
The two of them walked toward the castle, with Abengane following behind Germain like a humble servant.
Suddenly, Germain asked, "Bisky must have already mentioned the 'Dark Continent' to you, right?"
"Ah, yes…"
Abengane nervously swallowed, feeling a wave of tension wash over him. This topic was truly nerve-wracking.
If he could, he would have preferred not to discuss it, but unfortunately, there was no way to avoid it.
"I was quite shocked at the time... but rest assured, I will never disclose what's happening here."
He wasn't lying. When Bisky had explained to him what this group was involved in, he had been astonished, even thinking for a moment that they had lost their minds.
The Dark Continent... What kind of insane organization have I gotten myself into?
But once he calmed down, he realized his situation was even more precarious.
Now that he knew about this, if he didn't keep his mouth shut, given Mr. Germain's way of handling things, he could already imagine his own head rolling on the ground.
The more Abengane thought about it, the more sweat drenched him. He needed to show where he stood immediately.
Germain noticed Abengane's emotional shift and reassured him, "That's good. Just focus on working for us, and your pay will be generous."
Abengane was a greedy man, after all. In the original storyline, he tried to beat Greed Island and remove Chrollo's curse for money.
Now, as long as he cooperated and helped, there was no doubt he would be well-rewarded. His dream of becoming wealthy could come true.
Germain wasn't just making empty promises—this was a future that could definitely be achieved.
The two followed the path back to Limeiro Castle and walked deep into its corridors, eventually arriving in the dungeon hall. Inside, only Bisky was there, lounging on a sofa and reading a magazine. The cover, unsurprisingly, featured a shirtless, muscular man.
"You're back?" Bisky said with a smile, putting the magazine down when she heard their footsteps. "Everything went well with the Nen Exorcism?"
"Smoothly," Germain replied, scanning the empty hall before asking, "Where is everyone else?"
"Ging insisted on seeing the Botanical Weapon Brion and the Beheading Antler Knight in person, so I had Sanbica take him to the Research Lab. They've been there for a while now."
"Menchi and Buhara wanted to tour the castle, and Shizuku volunteered to guide them. They're probably in one of the rooms somewhere."
"Dwun and List are busy with their daily tasks on Greed Island and can't step away for now."
Germain nodded.
At this moment, Abengane said, "In that case, I'll walk around the castle a bit. Since I'll be living and working here, I need to get familiar with the place."
"Alright, go ahead," Germain replied.
Abengane bowed slightly, then left.
Bisky covered her mouth, let out a small laugh, and said, "Looks like he feels a bit uneasy around us and needed an excuse to step outside."
Germain shook his head. "He'll understand what kind of people we are in time."
"True, actions speak louder than words." Bisky suddenly tapped her forehead, as if remembering something. "Oh right, I almost forgot to tell you about Kurapika."
Bisky sat up straight, placing her magazine to the side. She pressed her lips together, and her expression turned serious.
"Yesterday, Kurapika spent the entire afternoon clearing a piece of land near the 'Mansion Outpost' to create a cemetery."
"He originally planned to bury the 'Scarlet Eyes' in the cemetery of his clan but changed his mind."
"After the Kurta Clan massacre, there was a cemetery for them, but it was desecrated by grave robbers who destroyed the graves."
"Those grave robbers probably wanted to see if any 'Scarlet Eyes' were left behind. In any case, Kurapika didn't feel comfortable burying the eyes there."
"So he sought our advice. We suggested he bury them on the spot, and he decided to establish a cemetery there. We all helped him."
"A while ago, after Shizuku teleported over, she handed him all the 'Scarlet Eyes.' We then held a simple funeral together so his clan could rest in peace underground."
"He plans to retrieve all the 'Scarlet Eyes' and then move the ashes from the old clan cemetery to this new one for burial."
"Except for Pairo, the other 'Scarlet Eyes' can no longer be identified as belonging to specific people, so they will likely be buried together."
"Kurapika has already started his journey. He asked me to say goodbye to you and said that if you need him, he'll come back right away."
Germain listened quietly.
He felt that this was a good beginning for Kurapika.
In the original timeline, Kurapika stored the recovered "Scarlet Eyes" in a tomb where shadows and candlelight mingled, spending his days facing them as a constant reminder.
He could never forget the pain of his clan. If even he forgot, then no one would remember their deaths.
Now, he was willing to bury most of the "Scarlet Eyes," symbolizing that he was letting go of part of his obsession. This was beneficial for his mindset and his training.
