Chapter 70 – Dobby.
[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]
Third Person POV
Hogwarts.
...
...
Days were passing at Hogwarts while the pressure continued over the school, with many groups from the Ministry of Magic still circulating the area and even some entering the school to investigate the events and calling some students to talk.
The atmosphere remained quite gloomy, with the students, for the most part, sad for their peers. Most of them ended up leaving the school to see their families with the intention of forgetting the horrors of what happened in the village.
It was Saturday, almost a week since the events, and Snape was keeping his routine quite discreet, not getting involved with almost anyone and nobody saw him, as he kept teleporting around the school without traces using his ability.
At this moment, he was training, determined to become stronger and thus began to distribute all his points gained in the last days, focusing more on magic than on the body.
He began to train a new type of magic; there was telekinesis and fire magic, but there were some that he intended to develop with other elements, one of which he ended up classifying as storm magic, which can control every type of element within a storm.
His wand began to pick up electricity as he was trying to develop it, he wanted a lightning magic, even faster and as fatal as the death magic. The electricity ran through the wand until he lost a bit of control and dismissed the lightning.
"It's still very difficult..." He murmured, seeing his result not as pleasant as he hoped. It was at this moment that he felt a disturbance in the air and a house-elf came up to him at this moment.
"Mr. Snape!!!" Dobei appeared, calling him immediately, he seemed quite nervous.
"Yes, Dobei?" Snape looked at him without understanding his urgent face.
"Listen, Mr. Snape!! You have to get out of here!" He began. "Mr. Snape, they are scouring the entire school! A group from the Ministry of Magic is with the headmaster, looking through all the rooms in search of any trace of this wizard who attacked others in Hogsmeade," he said with the same tone of urgency.
Snape was not surprised by this. After all, they had not found anything that could prove the existence of this wizard at the school last week and were probably opting to scour everything and everyone. But he doubted they would enter the Slytherin dormitories, unlike those of the other houses.
Putting that aside, Snape realized that his secret place would no longer be used for a good while. Then, he quickly felt the cabinet door opening.
"It seems they are already here..." Snape commented.
"Yes, we have to get out of here," Dobei said.
"Meet me in the kitchen," Snape spoke before using his wand, making all the mess he created be arranged instantly and disappear into a shadow. The house-elf just snapped his fingers to disappear as well.
The director and the aurors entered a moment later while the headmaster looked with interest, but the place was clean, without a trace of anyone being there.
Snape reappeared as a new shadow in the middle of the kitchen. This startled the house-elves nearby a bit, but they soon calmed down upon seeing that it was just Mr. Snape.
Snape sighed, a bit frustrated with the situation, and turned his attention to the largest creature in the place, which was eating sludge from the large shallow bucket where the house-elves put all kinds of food and mashed it, particularly disgusting since they walked around barefoot.
"You will have to leave here too..." Snape assessed seeing that the kitchen would be another place they would search for anything, but the wizards wouldn't talk about it unless asked, and Snape doubted anyone cared about the house-elves.
His gaze now fell to the house-elf there, "I need to continue my training, is there anywhere I can continue practicing magic?" Snape asked, while all the house-elves scratched their chins with an expression of someone thinking.
"We don't know..." Several house-elves spoke at the same time.
"I know one that exists!!!" replied a house-elf that Snape didn't know.
"Hey, isn't there that door that appears rarely on the seventh floor...!" One elf suggested while everyone seemed to remember.
"It's true... but almost no one has seen it... nobody knows how to get to it..." Another said.
Snape nodded, still remembering those words when he had asked about the places at Hogwarts from the elves more than 6 months ago, although he hadn't paid much attention to that type of room.
"Wait! Did you say a room on the seventh floor?! I know it, I know it," said an elf suddenly, one that Snape remembered had arrived a few weeks ago in the kitchen. "My grandfather told me about that room. It's called the Room of Requirement, or the needed room. They say that, when you really need it, it appears. My grandfather took care of various animals in this place for a powerful wizard of his time, who used the room just for himself. The young wizard would train, study, and care for his animals, all in one place under everyone's nose. He always told how his master treated him well and how powerful he was. But, however, as soon as the wizard died, the room disappeared along with him and he had to leave, my grandfather died shortly after..." the house-elf murmured sadly.
Snape nodded. "I'll take a look later," he murmured, since he had nothing else to do and would take his Graphorn, no longer being able to keep it in the kitchen with the Ministry searching for anything.
The animal didn't even have time to react when it exclaimed in surprise and was sucked into Snape's bag, while he prepared to leave, but someone interrupted him at this moment. "Mr. Snape, may I ask a favor of you? If it's not too much to ask, I wanted you to help me!! Mr. Snape..." he spoke with a somewhat desperate tone.
"Speak, Dobei." said Snape looking at the elf, who never asks for anything, so it was strange.
"It's just that I have a son," Dobei began. "His name is Dobby. He's a quite young house-elf and I wanted to bring him here, but I couldn't, as he ended up being captured and will be sold at an auction somewhere. I wanted to know if you could buy him. I know it's a lot to ask, but I also know that you will take care of him, since he was caught by dark wizards," He spoke, and Snape thought about it for a moment.
He didn't find the idea bad. After all, he had wanted to buy a house-elf for a long time. However, that black market auctioneer had been messing him around a lot in the past few months. If there was an auction happening with a house-elf being auctioned, as Dobei was talking about, it would very likely be at that auction and he would do his best to buy the house-elf.
He looked at Dobei and nodded. "Yes, I am quite interested," said Snape. "I would like to acquire your son."
Dobei opened a big smile at this, with his huge eyes. "Thank you very much, Mr. Snape. Knowing that I could count on you... you will be a good master and take very good care of my little boy," he said.
"Long live Mr. Snape!!" Several house-elves exclaimed at the same time.
Snape nodded after that. He then exited the kitchen with a teleport, returning to his dormitory.
"I can make more potions," he murmured, looking at the schedule and since he was going to the black market the next day, he needed to increase his stock. The next day, the first thing he did was train again to gain a few more points while he still wasn't in the system bottleneck.
He left while all the students were still eating in the common hall, approaching the fireplaces where Mr. Filch was guarding, as always, holding his cat like a baby, at the place.
"Stop right there, Mr. Snape, you can't leave the school like before!" he said stubbornly.
Snape didn't like that. "Who said that? I have a deal with the headmaster," he replied with a severe tone.
"But didn't you see what happened in Hogsmeade? All exits for all students are forbidden, even for you, who always seems to have some privilege that no one else has," Filch said with an intense look.
Snape sighed. He wasn't in the mood to talk to the headmaster but simply turned around and continued walking until he turned a corner, while Mr. Filch looked satisfied with that. But as soon as Snape left his sight, he turned into a shadow and appeared behind the man, walking slowly like a cat burglar, without the other and his cat noticing. When he got near the fireplace, he cast fire while the man took a fright, looking back quickly, expecting to see someone.
But he saw nothing and scratched his head. "Did they give up halfway?" Fitch murmured, not understanding the situation.
Meanwhile, Snape was out in Diagon Alley again, wearing a cloak to hide his face. The place looked nothing like before, with people whispering among each other quietly; the streets were emptier, and the shops not very bustling. The people there had eyes shining with fear and frustration, while there were protests everywhere. Protests about the search for a wizard who kills others with blades, protests against Hogwarts and pressure to remove Dumbledore as director, and protests against the Ministry of Magic itself for letting all the students die. Many people were not fools and did not believe those words in the newspaper without blaming the ministries and Hogwarts as well, while using the mystery killer of 50 dark wizards as a scapegoat to try to alleviate their side and the mistake they made. Some believed that the mysterious wizard was a hero,
But he didn't care about that, as he passed by everyone and went to the black market, where he found the same man guarding the entrance, who no longer even charged Snape and just opened the door for him to enter. He went to the potion shop, as usual, while feeling stares on him, since they probably thought he was the mysterious potion maker. He sold the potions again until the man called him.
"Well, with that our business here is finished. However, I have good news for you. There will be an auction of just one house-elf. I'm sure you are interested," he said. After all, Snape had requested to be notified about any information on house-elves and a possible auction at the black market auction house.
"I am aware," Snape admitted. "All right. I will be there. Give me the location details and I also want to take more ingredients to create more potions, and deduct it from my payment," Snape spoke while picking a few more special ingredients from the store.
After seeing all the information, he knew that the auction would be in 2 weeks with new items. He nodded as he left again and returned to the school, after picking up some books he ordered from a library on Muggle literature in a magical store where a woman looked at him strangely, he resumed his walk to return.
Passing through the protests and some aurors who ran here and there, Snape returned to the travel spot and went back to Hogwarts. But as soon as he returned, he came face-to-face with the director, who seemed to be waiting for him.
"Mr. Snape, what a pleasant surprise," he said, without any anger about Snape having left, unlike the school's caretaker who looked furiously at Snape. But the latter didn't care.
"Hello, Director," Snape greeted formally while waiting for him to continue.
"Mr. Snape, I was wondering if you could accompany me to my office. I would like to talk to you," he requested.
Snape wasn't very keen on talking to the director, but without choice, nodded, since he had to talk to him about how his privileges at the school were.
