Housekeeper in the dungeon

chapter 31

Episode 31

Hee-won sat down on one knee and pawed at the damp soil as he looked around.

His gaze darted to and fro as the system window explained something to him.

After a few minutes, Hee-won jumps up and brushes the dirt off her knee.

“What’s going on? What did the system say?”

Hee-Na asked impatiently. Hee-won scratched his cheek with his index finger and answered.

“My job. I’m a ‘farmer’ who can only farm inside the dungeon. I never thought about it before because it’s dangerous…….”

“Why not?”

“I think I could grow something here.”

Hee-Na’s face lit up at the slightly shrugged response.

“I think that’s a good idea! We should stop being dangerous hunters. Instead, let’s figure out a way to fit in with your ‘farmer’ class!”

To be honest, Hee-Na didn’t think her brother needed to earn money from the Farmer class.

“He’s suffered enough in the past ten years, and I’m making money, so he can take a break. I think it would be nice if you could grow some plants and live a simple life.

With Hee-na’s skill, they didn’t have to buy a house, and they didn’t have to pay for water and electricity.

How a house in a dungeon could have electricity, clean water, and Wi-Fi was a mystery, but…… good things come in packages. All of this was free.

With housing out of the way, I didn’t have to worry about much else. If they lived frugally on Hee-Na’s salary, they could save up and have enough fun.

“I wish my brother would plant lettuce, carrots, green onions, cherry tomatoes, and other things. It would be nice if we could get enough to eat.”

“Sure. We don’t have a big yard, so that would be perfect.”

Hee-won agreed.

Hee-Na and Hee-Won now have a nice house and yard. Even though it’s a dungeon and monsters are screeching right next door, they still have the kind of home that most small-towners can only dream of.

Now, it seemed like all that was left for them was a carefree life. But things don’t always go as expected.

* * *

“Ouch!”

On the afternoon of the day before her return to work, Hee-Na realized something important.

She had been so focused on her brother’s return, ranking up her Home Sweet Home skill, the new house, and cleaning the house that she hadn’t thought about it.

“What’s wrong?”

Hee-won, who was carefully planting cherry tomato seedlings on the dungeon land, turned to ask.

Hee-na squatted in front of the front door and sulked.

“Brother, what if I get fired from the company?”

“What do you mean, why would the company suddenly fire you? Report it to the labor office.”

Hee-won replied as he poked the seedling shovel into the floor.

It was a seed shovel like a child’s play set, but because his class was “farmers,” he exuded a certain charisma.

“No. This is 100% my fault and I’m getting fired. Oh no, what if the company sues me for damages?”

“What the hell is that, anyway?”

“The ‘Spatial Fragment’ I used to upgrade my house. It’s a byproduct of the Blue Dragon Guild’s dungeon raid. But it’s gone.”

What’s left in your hand instead is a black seed…….

I peeked at it, and a description popped up.

<□□□ □□: Seed. Let’s plant it in the ground to find out what it is. (Lack of stats prevents us from fully verifying the information.)>

The spatial fragment was bad enough, but this □□□ □□’s description was even worse.

Hee-Na clutched at her hair. Suddenly, her vision blurred.

“All the items from the dungeon are expensive, what should I do?

Even though the item had become her own, it didn’t change the fact that it belonged to the guild.

It was the item that Kang Jinhyun was going to write down in his dungeon strategy report!

Furthermore, let’s be honest and take this seed to Kang Jin Hyun.

Who would believe me if I told him that it was a silver coin that had been transformed into a saccharine seed by a snail’s touch?

“No, before that, how do I explain this?

To explain everything, I would have to use Hee-na’s skills, which was a no-no.

Hee-won, who had snatched the black seed from Hee-na and was observing it, suddenly spoke up.

“Can’t you just grab it because it’s gone? Besides, you can’t say it’s 100% your fault.”

It was a ridiculous thing to say. But to Hee-na, it sounded like a steady rain.

“What do you mean, it’s not 100% my fault, big brother?”

Hee-won nonchalantly rolled the seeds in her palm.

“It was Hunter Kang jin-hyeon who handed you such a thing, just like a normal person. What can you do when you give something whose identity is unknown? In a way, this happened because of Hunter Kang’s rash judgment.”

As it turns out, he wasn’t wrong. But…….

“Brother, do you know that thanks to him, you were freed from the slavery of the sweatshop?”

It sounded a little ungrateful coming from someone who had been rescued from a slave labor camp thanks to Hunter Kang jin-hyeon.

But Hee-won shrugged in ignorance.

“……Anyway, I’m on your side, so to speak.”

“Okay……. Thanks.”

Even though he was now just a penniless vegetable farmer, he felt a little better knowing that his brother had his back.

“By the way, can I plant these? I’m curious.”

Hee-won asked what to do with the seeds, and I waved my hand.

“Whatever you want.”

Hee-na didn’t have the energy to care about a seed whose identity was unknown.

* * *

“……Get him, he doesn’t know what he’s doing, what can he do?”

Woo MinAh, who had arranged for them to eat meat together, also cut in.

“Sis……. Is it okay for the head of the dungeon strategy team to say that?”

woo-Min-ahreplied while shoveling three pieces of meat into her mouth at once.

“Didn’t you come to me for this kind of answer?”

“It’s true that I called you to find a way…….”

But I didn’t realize that the way to do that was to accuse you of not knowing, just like the real customer.

“You think it won’t work because our Blue Dragon Guild is a big company? Surprisingly, even big companies do things the old-fashioned way. Besides, it was Kang jin-hyeon who handed you the unidentified item, so even if you write a letter, it should be Kang jin-hyeon.”

Woo Min-ah said the same thing as her brother, Hee-won. She was at a loss.

“Tell them the snails in your house ate it. Or that it suddenly disappeared from your inventory window. Maybe it’s because there are so many unusual things in the dungeon.”

“How am I supposed to say something like that……?”

“What, you said you went on a dungeon date together? He’s not that mean, he’s just a little stuck in a rut.”

Woo MinAh swung her chopsticks and made a sound that Kang JinHyun couldn’t tell if it was a compliment or an insult.

“But…….”

Hee-na remembered Kang’s blunt face.

In-person, he was a kinder person than she expected, but at work, he seemed to be ruthless.

“Still, I’m a little scared to bring it up, but I guess I should tell you in person since I’m also at fault.”

“If you’re so scared, you can try bribing me.”

Woo MinAh said something ridiculous, so HeeNa held out her hand.

“What do I have to bribe an S-class Hunter with? Do I have money or items? What could a Kang Jin Hyun Hunter possibly lack?”

“I have a lot.”

“Don’t make fun of me, sis, I’m serious.”

Hee-na’s response made Woo Min-ah put down her chopsticks with a click. Her expression was serious.

“I’m serious, too. You asked what he’s lacking, right? He’s lacking in taste, he’s lacking in sleep, and he’s lacking in money.”

“What does that mean?”

“You think all S-class hunters are good, right? It’s not always the case. In Kang’s case, he’s very sensitive and sometimes it’s hard for him to function. His sense of taste is much more developed than most people’s, so he can’t appreciate certain foods, and he can’t sleep well because he’s so sensitive to noises and movements.”

“Hm, that’s too bad.”

Hee-Na sighed, unable to hide her sympathy for the unexpected plight of the S-class Hunter.

What could be more important to a Korean than to eat and sleep?

“I’m the same way, and so are the other members of the Blue Dragon Guild, and we’re all pretty high ranked, so we’re picky eaters. But you, Hee-na, you completely calmed them down with just a few lines of kimbap. They melted like they were on drugs.”

Hee-Na’s cheeks flushed at the excessive praise.

“I’m embarrassed to hear you say that.”

“Anyway, that’s not the point. If you can make high-ranked hunters swoon, I’m sure you can make S-ranked hunters swoon, too.”

Hee-Na suddenly understood what Woo Min-Ah was saying.

“So, you’re saying that I should wrap up some food that uses my flavor skill and beg for it, right?”

Woo Min-ah nodded her head vigorously.

“If he has a tongue, he’ll be able to eat it.”

“But, big sister, do you think you can make up for the loss of the guild item with just some food?”

“It can. Look at me. I’m obsessed with the meat you cook, I’ll keep all your secrets, I’ll find you a job in our guild, I’ll have you move in with my home address……. I didn’t take off your liver and gallbladder, isn’t that enough?”

She did. Woo Min-ah was so worried about Hee-na’s move that she even added Hee-na’s name to her address.

If Hee-na was afraid that someone would catch her using the “Home Sweet Home” skill, she even allowed her to go to and from the outside world through her house. It was a huge favor.

But it made Hee-Na feel a little uncomfortable.

“Sister, have you been so nice to me all this time because of the meat?”
