chapter 11
Episode 11
“Sis, you must be very famous.”
Hee-Na whispered in her ear, and Woo-Min-Ah echoed her.
“I’m famous.”
After a few playful words, Woo Min-ah waved that they were almost there.
“If you go over there, the head of HR will be waiting for you, so have a good interview.”
“Thanks, Sister Min-Ah.”
“What. I have work today, so I won’t be able to eat with you, but call me when you’re done.”
Woo Min-ah quickly disappeared to see if she had work.
Hee-na stared after her, wondering if she had something to do.
“My sister went out of her way to get me this job, so I need to ace the interview without embarrassing myself.
Hee-Na clenched her fists and started walking briskly.
The long-awaited first step was about to be taken.
“Ouch!”
Hee-Na yelped, startled by her loose, peeling shoes.
“What, what?”
Hopping on one foot, she looked at the shoe and saw something sticking to the heel. It looked like chewing gum.
“Who spit this out in the hallway?”
I grumbled and tugged at the shoe. But…….
“Huh?”
It was a strange thing.
The shoe was stuck to the floor as if it had been glued on with superglue, and it wouldn’t budge. I strained with all my might, but it wouldn’t budge.
“Hmph, what am I going to do?
Hee-Na panicked.
She looked at her wristwatch and realized she still had about 15 minutes before the interview. But the shoe didn’t look like it was going to fall off.
“Should I go into the bathroom, call him home, and then go to the shoe store to buy a pair?” she thought to herself.
I was seriously contemplating.
“Is the shoe stuck?”
A low voice called out from behind me.
“Surprise!”
Hee-Na nearly jumped out of her seat in surprise.
She turned around, trying to feign composure, and saw a surprisingly familiar face.
“It’s stuck to the slime ooze, so it won’t come off easily.”
It was S-class Hunter Kang Jin-hyun, a handsome, cold-faced man.
But it didn’t matter to Hee-na that there was an S-class Hunter in front of her. It was only a brief encounter, but it was an encounter, and most importantly, she had a job interview coming up.
“What should I do? I have an interview in a little while.”
“Um…….”
Kang Jin-hyun muttered in response to Hee-na’s fidgeting.
He hesitated for a moment, then knelt beside her and grabbed her shoe. In his large hands, the shoe looked much smaller than its original size.
Then Kang Jin-hyun tugged on the shoe with his hands.
There was a ding, ding, ding, ding. The sound was a bit too harsh for a shoe stuck to something sticky.
“Hmph.
Hee-Na’s eyes widened and she clamped her hands over her mouth because if she didn’t, she was going to scream.
Because, because…….
“How could the hardwood floor break?
Yes, Hee-Na’s shoes had been rescued.
But they had an unwelcome guest in the back and front heels: a piece of stone from the floor.
If you compare the durability of the floor to the shoes, the shoes are much less durable, so how the stone floor broke is a mystery.
Was this another one of the dazzling skills of an S-class Hunter?
There was a moment of silence.
“Suh, the slime ooze must have an amazing adhesive power…….”
Hee-na searched for words for a moment before praising the adhesive power of the slime ooze.
Meanwhile, Kang Jin-hyun kept looking down at the small shoe in his hand.
Hee-na rolled her eyes in frustration: the interview time was almost up, and her shoe had gotten stuck with a rock, making her taller than ever.
“Should I just leave it like this?
I was panicking and considering running away.
“Ms. Lee, come in for an interview……. What is this?”
The door to the interview room opened and a well-dressed man came out with a look of incredulity on his face. It was obvious that he was the head of the human resources team that Woo Min-ah had mentioned.
“Oh, it’s……”
Hee-na hurriedly tried to explain the situation. But the head of HR spoke first.
“Hunter Kang Jin-hyun, vandalizing the company will be deducted from your expenses again.”
The tone sounded surprisingly familiar.
He lunged forward and snatched Hee-na’s shoes from Kang’s hand, inspecting them.
“Ms. Lee, it looks like you need…… shoes, so I’ll bring you some slippers.”
In the natural flow of things, Hee-na felt like she had to side with Kang Jin-hyun. After all, he had smashed the floor while trying to help Hee-Na…….
“Excuse me, Mr. HR. Hunter Kang Jin-hyun was trying to help me and ended up like this…… Uh, this is what happened, but don’t you think it’s a little harsh to hold him responsible for vandalism?”
Even though it turned out wrong, the favor had to be repaid. Hee-na continued to explain her thoughts.
Then the head of HR handed her a pair of shoes with a rock in them and said.
“You must have spilled that slime yourself, otherwise you wouldn’t have tried to help, right, Mr. Hunter?”
The shocked sound made Hee-Na turn around quickly.
But there wasn’t a shadow of Kang where he had stood just moments before, just a white business card.
“If you need compensation, you can call this number.”
The HR director bent down to pick up the business card and handed it to Hee-Na. This happened often, and there was no sign of embarrassment.
“It’s so natural.
Hee-na realized that Kang Jin-hyun, the number one Hunter in Korea and an S-ranked talent, might unexpectedly be playing the role of a troublemaker within the guild.
After changing into slippers, Hee-na entered the interview room with a pair of shoes in one hand. The shoes were quite heavy with stones stuck in the heels.
“What should I do? I borrowed them in a hurry, so I should ask them back.
Hee-na glanced down at the shoes on her fingers.
Mokhyun Kang, the head of HR, seemed to be lost in thought for a moment, then asked her to excuse herself.
Hee-na sat down in the interview chair and looked around the room. In the corner of the room was a small table with a water dispenser, and on it were simple tea bags, tissues, and wipes.
Hee-Na glanced toward the door of the interview room. The head of HR said he would be gone for five to ten minutes, so it was clear he wouldn’t be back for a while.
“Should I shine my shoes in the meantime?
I asked, still concerned about my scuffed shoes, so I walked over and grabbed some wipes.
“I know this won’t clean them, but……. but I’ll try.”
Without much hope, Hee-Na quickly wiped the thick liquid off the heel of her shoe with the wipe, and then something amazing happened.
“Huh?”
The sticky liquid had been cleanly removed by the wipe. I couldn’t believe it was the same ooze that had stuck to the floor and wouldn’t come off.
Maybe it was because I was wiping and cleaning something, but I triggered the skill.
She pulled out a few more wipes and rubbed her shoes together, and then, poof, the flooring came off. Hee-na looked down at the scattered rocks.
“What the hell is this Hunter Kang Jin-hyun doing?
It was amazing that he had to use his strength to tear up the floor when a few wipes could have done the job.
Is this the world of S-class hunters?
As I stared at my shoes and the floor in wonder, the door to the interview room flew open.
“Surprise!
Hee-Na sat up in surprise. She felt like she’d been caught in the act of doing something big, even though she hadn’t done anything wrong.
“Ms. Lee?”
It was Mr. Kang Mok-hyun, the head of human resources, who entered the interview room.
“Oh, yes, Mr. Kang.”
Hee-na was a little embarrassed and quickly cleaned up the wet wipes with the liquid.
Mokhyun Kang held out his hand to her.
“I don’t think you’ll be able to go home in your slippers, so I’ve made a temporary solution…….”
He stopped talking when he saw the shoes in Hee-na’s hand. More like he forgot what he was going to say for a moment.
“What did I do wrong?
Kang Mokhyun was looking at him.
“How did you remove the ooze from the shoe?”
“This? I wiped it off with a wet wipe.”
Hee-na was confused by the unexpected question. Then Kang Mok-hyun looked at the object he had brought with him. It was a spray bottle with a clear liquid.
“……Slime slime can be removed with wet wipes without a special solution?”
He mumbled something as if he was in big trouble, so Hee-na asked urgently.
“Did I do something wrong?”
“Not at all. Let’s sit down first, Ms. Lee.”
Kang Mokhyun shook his head and sat down in the chair, suddenly switching to interview mode and beginning to bombard Hee-na with questions.
“First of all, you’ve awakened your cleaning-related ability?”
Hee-Na dropped her clean shoes on the floor and quickly responded to the interview.
“Oh, yes. It’s a housekeeping job…….”
The interview, which started suddenly while she was shining her shoes, was surprisingly uneventful. The interview was so easy that it didn’t matter that she was nervous.
The head of the HR team didn’t seem to want to know anything more than Hee-na’s “nimble fingertips” skill.
Hee-na answered a few more simple questions that seemed to be personality tests and was quickly introduced to the company and the job.
“Is a guild interview different from a normal company interview?
Just as I was starting to panic at the fast-paced process, Hee-na was told something unexpected.
“……Min-ah, no, I mean Woo-Min-ah, Hunter, is the general manager of the dungeon strategy team?”
