Honkai Star Rail: Starting With Marrying Acheron

Chapter 189: Firefly: I will wake you up on time, don't worry

After taking a shower, Firefly changed into a set of long-sleeved pajamas that Lin Shuang had prepared for her.

They were simple, nothing fancy, but she seemed to like them a lot.

She kept tugging at the sleeves and pinching the fabric, lost in thought.

Lin Shuang stood behind her, holding Firefly's damp hair in both hands.

She slightly increased the temperature and vibration, shaking the moisture out. It was something she had done for Acheron many times before, and with practice, she had become quite skilled at it.

Once it was done, Firefly's long hair was left fluffy and filled with a light, elegant fragrance.

She lifted a handful of it to her nose and sniffed a few times, then turned to Lin Shuang, grabbed a section of her hair, and took a few playful sniffs as well—just like a curious cat.

After finishing, Lin Shuang settled back onto the sofa.

The two of them sat close together, just as before, but this time, the scent from Firefly's hair drifted toward her. It was odd—it was the same fragrance she used herself, yet it smelled different on Firefly, softer, more indistinct.

She sniffed again. The shampoo was the same, but something about the scent had changed when worn by another person.

The game's settlement screen still flickered on the monitor in front of her.

Lin Shuang reached for the controller and navigated back to the game selection menu.

The shifting images caught Firefly's attention, and she turned to ask,

"By the way, Lin Shuang, when are you free? I was thinking of taking a spaceship this time. Kafka said the tour starts from there. What do you think?"

She sat sideways on the sofa, still absentmindedly playing with the ends of Lin Shuang's hair as she casually brought up the date location.

The planet she was referring to was a well-known tourist destination, offering premium services like private jet pickups.

Firefly had always wanted to visit, though she hadn't considered taking a private flight before.

Back when she wore Sam's armor, she would have been lucky not to be reported to security, let alone enjoy luxury services.

But now, appearing as Firefly with a fabricated identity made by Silver Wolf, there was no need to sneak around.

She could enjoy herself openly, basking in the sun alongside Lin Shuang.

So when Kafka mentioned it, she found herself easily convinced.

Lin Shuang, of course, didn't mind.

She wasn't bound by any obligations and could do whatever she pleased.

Unlike the crew of the Astral Express she didn't have to follow their designated path.

Ever since the Doomsday Beast's light cannon had frightened March 7th and Stelle, shattering their expectations of fate, Lin Shuang had become increasingly aware of the future events the train crew would face.

In this world, there were Aeons like 'Terminus' and 'Nous,' capable of seeing fate or calculating the universe. It wasn't easy for her mere butterfly wings to create real ripples.

Still, the final boss of the Xianzhou mission had already been severely wounded by her in advance, so there wasn't much left to worry about.

Besides, it was unclear if the train would even head to Luofu now.

In the original plot, the train crew had been led there by Kafka to establish an alliance.

But now, the jade omen was in Lin Shuang's possession, and she wasn't sure if there was another one out there.

If summoning a Xianzhou ship ever became necessary, she could handle it herself—there was no need for the train's intervention.

For now, she was completely free to go wherever she wanted. And even if something urgent happened, teleporting back wouldn't be difficult.

While mulling over the Starry Sky Train's trajectory, Lin Shuang shifted slightly, letting her long hair fall toward Firefly, who continued playing with it.

But her focus remained on the game library, scrolling through Silver Wolf's collection.

"I don't have anything going on. The clothes I ordered with Kafka will take some time to arrive. Firefly, you decide."

"Alright! Then I'll make the arrangements."

Firefly happily bumped shoulders with Lin Shuang, and Lin Shuang immediately bumped back.

What was originally planned as a surprise was now turning into a jointly planned date. The thought made Lin Shuang smile.

She turned to look at Firefly, who was swaying playfully, her long hair fluttering with the motion.

"By the way, Firefly, how much sleep do you usually get?"

"Hmm? Not much. I was born without the ability to dream, so I don't need as much sleep as normal people. A short rest each day is enough."

Firefly answered with a lighthearted tone, but the meaning behind her words wasn't as cheerful.

Lin Shuang stared at the screen calmly, but inwardly, she was thinking about what the people from the Glamoth Republic had done to the clones.

For a being with active consciousness, dreaming was normal.

But for Firefly to be born incapable of it? That was clearly unnatural.

As Lin Shuang pondered, Firefly continued speaking:

"So, I often go to high places in the early morning. I like watching the sky brighten little by little. The sun rises as usual, and another beautiful, peaceful day begins."

Her warm words seeped into Lin Shuang's heart, easing the dissatisfaction that had lingered there. For now, at least, she felt at peace.

She looked at Firefly's smiling face. At this moment, her expression seemed to glow.

"Then you must have seen a lot of different sunrises."

"Of course! Let me tell you, the sunrise in a bustling city, in a rural town, on a mountain, by the sea—each one has its own charm. You should try experiencing it."

"I don't think I can wake up that early. I usually sleep until noon."

"Haha~ That's way too long!"

Firefly giggled behind her sleeve, surprised. She had thought Lin Shuang was the type to train rigorously and wake up early. Who would have guessed she was actually a late sleeper?

"But since we're going to the beach, we can watch the sunrise over the sea."

"Really? Then I'll make sure to wake you up. Don't worry, I'm punctual."

Firefly gave her a thumbs-up, full of confidence.

Lin Shuang briefly considered just setting an alarm. But seeing how excited Firefly was, she didn't have the heart to ruin her enthusiasm.

"If it's not too much trouble, I'll leave it to you."

"It's no trouble. I'll be up anyway."
