To Kiana, Gray Serpent was an unfamiliar name. However, for Gray Serpent, Kiana had long been an object of his attention.

Many collaborations between World Serpent and Schicksal revolved around Kiana as their focal point.

This girl possessed a unique aura... something to which Gray Serpent remained highly sensitive.

According to their collaborative agreement, World Serpent shouldn't have approached Kiana at this time.

Yet here he was.

Coral Island would be the final sacrifice, and Project Stigma required World Serpent to gather all human Herrschers—including those who had once perished.

"The terms of our deal are simple. All you need to do is visit the World Serpent's base someday in your future. The great Lord will then reveal numerous secrets about Honkai, as well as the truths you seek."

"Your origin, your power, your destiny..."

Gray Serpent's voice sounded unpleasant,

yet possessed an indescribable, mesmerizing allure.

If Kiana were still her former self, she might have accepted his offer. But after being immersed in Schicksal Headquarters for some time, she promptly replied, "No thanks, I'm not interested in shady deals."

It wasn't that she didn't want to learn more information.

However, Kiana understood that every transaction comes with a cost, and the greater the importance of the deal, the higher the price she'd have to pay.

Moreover, Gray Serpent didn't seem like a trustworthy individual with good intentions.

It wasn't that Kiana fully endorsed Schicksal at this point; she had merely managed to calm her emotions. However, her mind remained clear—fighting Honkai required staying with Schicksal as the optimal choice, rather than considering alternatives elsewhere.

Gray Serpent couldn't help but observe Kiana closely.

"Fascinating, truly intriguing." With his mechanical arm, he produced something from his pocket. "Take your time to think before responding. You might want to see this first."

In Gray Serpent's hand was a data chip.

"Don't doubt its authenticity. Once you've seen what it contains, I'll come find you again."

Kiana immediately moved to confront Gray Serpent.

However, even facing certain death, the mysterious figure showed no signs of pleading for mercy.

The girl instinctively sought to destroy the chip in Gray Serpent's possession. Her intuition told her that whatever information it held was exceptionally genuine and crucial to her. Yet precisely because of this, she felt compelled to obliterate it.

She didn't want any doubts about Schicksal to surface at this moment, as it could lead to complications.

Taking a deep breath, she swiftly crushed the chip beneath her foot.

"I'll find the truth I seek on my own; no need for assistance from ill-intentioned individuals like you."

The girl trusted her judgment.

After purchasing breakfast and running another twenty kilometers back, Kiana considered it merely a way to aid digestion.

Seeking out Xia Chen, she wanted to discuss their plans on Coral Island. With hesitation, he informed her of the squad's awkward situation, currently lacking tasks to undertake.

"Mostly, Valkyrie Squads, including those at Headquarters, spend their time training or otherwise idle. As you know, the frequency of Honkai Events is quite low, and issues unrelated to Honkai don't typically require our involvement."

Without considering potential large-scale Honkai outbreaks, cultivating Valkyries actually has a very poor cost-benefit ratio for Schicksal.

Although individual Valkyries possess immense combat power, adaptability to harsh environments, and remote rescue capabilities, these roles can often be filled by other professions.

Considering the current low frequency of Honkai Events, most trained Valkyries may not receive a single mission in a year.

This is especially true for Valkyries stationed in African regions.

Unless interacting with local officials, Valkyries typically have little to do. Consequently, many also serve as Schicksal's diplomats abroad.

However, Coral Island, although nominally co-developed by Australia and Southeast Asian countries, has primarily been staffed by personnel arranged by Otto. Thus, even diplomatic roles are unnecessary for the Valkyries here.

Kiana felt somewhat disappointed but quickly regained her spirits. "I understand. In Shenzhou, there's a saying - 'A thousand days to train soldiers, one moment to employ them.' I'll diligently train myself."

"Wait," Xia Chen paused before continuing, "Although you've passed the theoretical assessment, we both know the circumstances. Therefore, from now on, set aside half a day each day to review theory with Fu Hua."

"Ah."

Kiana detested this aspect the most.

"So tired, I can't study any more."

After spending the entire afternoon, Kiana finally fulfilled her wish and returned to her room.

Despite her determination to become a warrior, there were still subjects she struggled to grasp.

Occasionally, Kiana envied others for their sharp intellects.

Just as she planned to take a shower and continue training, she noticed something unusual in her room.

The girl's eyes narrowed slightly, spotting an envelope with a 'snake' symbol placed near her computer.

"It's from him."

Kiana immediately thought of Black Snake.

Her gaze tightened, instinctively wanting to destroy the contents within. However, considering it logically, the envelope likely contained information Gray Serpent intended for her to know.

Kiana didn't want to uncover its secrets, but she could guess that if she destroyed it, another letter would appear.

Someone was already watching her closely.

Kiana hesitated momentarily.

"I'll look at it later." She wasn't someone easily overwhelmed by curiosity.

Meanwhile, Xia Chen was conversing with Ana.

"How is Kiana adjusting?"

A day after Kiana's arrival, Ana began inquiring about her well-being.

Xia Chen pondered briefly before responding, "It's hard to say."

"I think Kiana has been somewhat assimilated by Headquarters' environment. Adjusting to Coral Island's laid-back pace might be challenging for her, so it's difficult to gauge if she's fully settled in."

"That's typical of the Kaslana family. Once they embrace their warrior instincts, it becomes tough for them to remain idle. Sending Kiana to Coral Island indeed puts her in a tricky situation."

Ana sighed, "I must find a way to reassign both you and Kiana; otherwise, it would be unfair to you."

She remained somewhat selfish, fearing that the tragedy of Coral Island might affect Xia Chen.

Xia Chen shook his head.

The situation had reached this point; there could be no room for further unexpected complications.

He changed the subject, "Being my own boss is quite comfortable now. Oh right, it's almost the New Year. Can you leave Headquarters? Let's have a date somewhere else."

As expected, Ana's thoughts were diverted.

"Yes, indeed, the New Year is approaching. Hmm, that sounds like a good reason. We should just plan a team outing then."

Muttering to herself, she said, "It's been a long time since Wendy went out, and the other squad members haven't interacted much with you either. Regardless, you're still part of the Snow Lotus Squad. Alright, leave the location planning to me; I'll notify you when ready."
