Chapter 6: Chapter 6: It really hurts…
Obelia flicked her wand, but only after everyone else took their first try. She recited a small chant and tapped the match, turning it into a long, thin, silver needle. It was like the one she used for embroidery but longer, and McGonagall came and picked it up.
"Long and thin, you were thinking of a certain needle, correct?" Obelia nodded with a smile, but that smile quickly faded. Blood started pouring down her nose and she quickly got a handkerchief.
McGonagall took notice and asked if she would like to go visit the nurse, however Obelia shook her head. 'This is a common occurrence, I would have to go to the nurse in every class using magic.' McGonagall left and Obelia noticed she didn't receive any house points even when she cast a perfect transfiguration spell.
'She must still be mad at me.'
The class continued slowly, while a few
succeeded on their first attempt, others took multiple. In the end, Draco, Goyler, Crabbe, and Obelia managed to achieve it successfully. Many Ravenclaw students also successfully cast a transformation spell, but fewer managed to perfect it completely.
Mcgonagall lectured the students on the safety and dangers of magic, and once class was finally over she dismissed them, but only after giving the student another warning not to use magic in the halls.
'I thought she was a cat, why is she acting like a parrot?'
___
"You look pale," Draco commented walking with Obelia to History of Magic class.
Obelia nodded but didn't seem to want to explain why. He noticed she was in deep thought and decided not to ask any further questions.
'I feel like my insides are turning, at this rate I might die.' Obelia knew if she went to a magic school she would have to do magic, but now that reality had hit her, she started to regret her decision.
'I only managed to muster up a single spell and I'm already drained, I won't be able to survive at this rate.' Both Draco and Obelia arrived in time for their History of Magic class and greeted the wise-looking ghost.
"I heard this class is the worst for first years because he just rambles on," Draco said sitting down and pulling out his textbook. Obelia suddenly realized, she never really put much thought into Draco's character.
'I remember he was an asshole, but I suppose it's only to Harry Potter and muggle-blood wizards.' She sat next to him and thought about to pros and cons of having a friend like him.
'Better to know the evil next to you than not to.' She nodded to herself and slowly pulled out her textbooks. She had extensive knowledge of Magic and Alchemy because it was required to make items, but having someone teach that knowledge was different from her learning from books.
'This might be my favorite class, no magic, just a voice telling you about magic.'
Professor Binns spoke in a slow and monotone voice, and many students found themselves growing tired. They slowly started to fall asleep, as if a curse had fallen upon them.
Draco also seemed to want to fall asleep but his tired eyes didn't cave in and marked his notes slowly. Obelia also got tired of hearing to old ghost talk about things she thought were irrelevant but still chose to write everything he said down.
Both heard he never awarded points, maybe because he was a ghost, or maybe because he just didn't care. Either way, they both worked hard to fight the tiredness and make a strong impression on the ghost.
Once the teacher dismissed the students only a few of them got up, the rest of them were still asleep. Obelia glanced at Draco who seemed to be in a daze before tapping his shoulder making him shoot up.
"Class is over, it's time for lunch right?"
___
"I think it went pretty well for our first day," Obelia said before reaching for a small dessert. She thought it was too early for lunch but enjoyed the sweets they had.
"It was something." Draco still rubbing his eyes said. He was still recovering from the History of Magic class. "What do you plan on doing with the short break after lunch?" He asked reaching for a dessert as well.
"Visit the library, Hogwarts has many valuable books." Obelia took one look at Draco's face before letting out a small smile. "Did you have something else planned?"
"Yes," he stood up, "we should strike Harry Potter." Draco suddenly announced, causing both his goons and Obelia to drop their spoons in shock.
"What do you mean?" Obelia asked, she was sure Draco didn't intend to hurt Harry Potter but wanted to make sure. 'I mean Harry has plot armor so I'm sure he will be fine, but…' She remembered the promise she made to Dumbledore and bit down her spoon.
'I need that key, my life depends on it.' To her, the key holds the knowledge she needed to survive, the master key to every place she could dream of. 'Once I get my hands on that key I'll be able to get stronger since knowledge of the future can only take you so far.' With new knowledge she would be able to understand magic to a new degree, expanding her crafts and upgrading old ones.
"What's our next class again?" Obelia stood up, Draco following right after.
"Potions." He said with a cheeky smile before walking with her to the library. Obelia suddenly felt a chill at the back of her neck and froze.
"You…don't plan on doing anything on the first day right?" She asked unsure, walking right next to him and looking at his smiling face.
"No, of course not, no." Draco shook his head profusely putting Obelia even more on edge, she suddenly felt bad for Harry. 'I'm sure he will be fine, he has to be…' She said to herself, repeating the phrase over and over.
"Stay here, I'll come pick you up for potions class." Obelia saw the figure of Draco slowly disappeared before walking in.
'Why… am I so on edge?'
