Chapter 58: Chapter 58: The Mysterious Disappearance of Names

Stopped Nagini's fall? How did I stop it?

Robert was confused. It seemed like he had simply used a Transfiguration spell to shrink Nagini. Everything after that had been left to Dumbledore.

Could it be that Dumbledore had killed Nagini?

That didn't seem possible. Dumbledore wouldn't do something like that…

Robert pondered the situation.

Meanwhile, Tom, who had been bracing himself for another round of "bullying" from Robert, suddenly noticed something strange—Robert had gone silent.

But Tom wasn't about to complain. In fact, Robert's silence was exactly what he wanted. If only he could stay quiet forever!

Since Robert couldn't figure out an answer, he decided not to dwell on it. The system had credited him with a large number of merit points, proving that he had done something good. As for Nagini's whereabouts, he could just ask Dumbledore later.

Feeling satisfied, Robert let go of Tom, who was still a little tense.

"It's already past ten o'clock. Why are you still in bed? Shouldn't you be up early reading? You're at the age where you should be striving for excellence, yet you're still lazing around?"

Tom looked at Robert in bewilderment. "Wait… didn't you forbid me from reading spell books?"

"Huh? You're just making excuses for being lazy. You should reflect on yourself instead of blaming me. If I didn't let you read spell books, couldn't you have read something else? Like Transfiguration, Potions, or Herbology? Honestly, kids these days…" Robert sighed and walked away, shaking his head.

Tom stared at Robert's back in disbelief.

You bastard… It was you who punished me by banning spell books!

And if it weren't for your Stunning Spell, how could I have slept until after ten?!

How did this suddenly become my laziness? How can you be so shameless?!

Tom opened his mouth to argue but stopped himself in the end.

Forget it… At least now I can study again.

I can't beat you now, Robert, but one day… I'll make sure you feel the pain I'm enduring!

Robert was about to head out with his toiletries when he bumped into Dumbledore, who was carrying a familiar-looking cage.

"Professor?"

Robert's eyes widened in surprise. Wasn't that Nagini inside the cage? How had Dumbledore brought her back?

"I came to tell you two things," Dumbledore said seriously.

Robert had never seen such a grave expression on the professor's face before.

"What's wrong, Professor?" he asked, puzzled.

Dumbledore glanced around cautiously before pulling Robert into a nearby empty guest room. He waved his wand, placing multiple protective enchantments to block any sound from leaking out.

"The first thing… we must keep it secret. No one can know," Dumbledore said as he pulled out a chair and sat down, his tone heavy with urgency. "Do not ask about that senior sister's name anymore. Do not look up her information. I will personally guide you in ancient magic, but unless absolutely necessary, do your best to keep the fact that you know it hidden. Do you understand?"

Robert's heart skipped a beat.

This had to be related to the letter he had written to Dumbledore that morning.

But he hadn't expected the professor to act so quickly. Based on the timing, Dumbledore must have Apparated back the moment he received the letter.

"What exactly happened?" Robert asked, though he already had a guess.

Dumbledore hesitated, his brows furrowed. "It's difficult to explain…"

Even he found the situation hard to believe—a person's name disappearing from the world without anyone noticing?

"Professor… is it that you can't remember her name anymore?" Robert asked cautiously.

Dumbledore's expression darkened. "How did you know that?"

Robert wasn't supposed to know the senior's name. If he hadn't known it to begin with, how had he figured out that Dumbledore had forgotten it?

"Because last night, when I asked you about her, you never mentioned her name. And when you spoke about her career, you left it out as well. This morning, I felt something was off, so I wrote you a letter."

Dumbledore, who already trusted Robert, felt a wave of relief upon hearing his reasoning.

"You're very observant, Robert. Yes, that's exactly the problem. In fact, if I hadn't received your letter, I might not have noticed anything at all! This is strange—far too strange."

Dumbledore sighed and continued, "Her name is gone—not just from my memory but from every record in Hogwarts. Even the admission book that contains the names of every student has a blank space where her name should be."

"She's… completely disappeared?" Robert asked in shock.

"No, it's more like part of her has disappeared." Dumbledore shook his head. "I even asked Headmaster Dippet, and he couldn't remember her name either. When he checked the admission book, her name had vanished—but the birthdate beside it remained. The same goes for every other document that recorded her. The information is still there, but her name is missing."

"In other words… all traces of her existence remain, except for her name?" Robert was stunned.

"Yes. It's too bizarre. Whoever did this must be incredibly powerful—capable of affecting everyone's memory without them realizing it."

Dumbledore's expression turned grim. "I will do everything I can to uncover the truth. But for your safety, I urge you—do not ask any more questions about her. And more importantly, keep your knowledge of ancient magic a secret for now."

Robert remained silent, deep in thought.

The only thing that connected him and the missing senior was their ability to use ancient magic.

And now, her name had disappeared.

She had vanished shortly after graduation.

Was someone targeting those who could use ancient magic?

If so… was he the next target?

Dumbledore seemed to be thinking the same thing. His usual twinkling eyes were now filled with worry.

Robert clenched his fists.

Who could possess the power to erase someone's name from the world?

And why?
