Harry Potter: Wizards Supersmacy

Chapter 18: Chapter -18 New pets.

Chapter -18.

That night, under the guidance of the boys' prefect, a big snake-catching mission kicked off in the boys' dormitory.

"Look! There's a little one! Quick, it's getting away!" shouted a nervous voice.

"Hey! There's an egg here—it laid eggs!" Another boy exclaimed, thrilled to be holding a few snake eggs.

"Stay back! No! It bit me!" Once again, Madam Pomfrey was on the scene to rescue someone.

"Don't try to grab it by hand! Use magic! Silver-scaled snake, come here! Oh no…" A senior student attempted a summoning spell on a silver-scaled snake but accidentally pulled in the rack the snake was wrapped around too. He ended up pinned under the rack, managing to catch the snake's head just before it lunged at him.

"Petrificus Totalus!" Brian cast the full-body bind curse to immobilize a snake, then bent down to pick it up.

In the light, the little silver snake appeared almost like a piece of art—its gleaming silver scales and graceful body highlighted by its small red eyes that sparkled like rubies.

"It actually looks kind of cute like this," Brian remarked, stroking his chin thoughtfully. "It seems pretty tame."

He tossed the snake into a glass tank nearby and secured the lid.

Before long, all the commotion in the boys' dorm caught the attention of Professor Snape, the headmaster, who glided in silently wearing his black morning robes, his expression very serious.

"Zabini has faced the consequences of his actions, but still, fifty points will be taken away." Snape was visibly furious; things could've turned dire. Brian had never seen Snape look so stern; it seemed like he could unleash the Killing Curse at any moment.

"Of course, Brian took timely action tonight, saving that fool's life," Snape continued, his tone softening slightly. "Brian Walker, twenty points."

"But why haven't I heard any reports? Reports about someone bringing dangerous creatures to school?" Snape cast a cold gaze at the young students around, making them bow their heads in fear.

"I hope tonight's events serve as a reminder," he added smoothly, "even fools shouldn't trip over the same stone twice."

As Snape departed, he took the silver-scaled snake with him along with the largest snake that had been on the loose.

That snake had bitten Malfoy before slipping out of the dormitory, and amid the chaos, it had snuck back in, landing on Crabbe's bed.

Snape easily caught it with his magic, leaving with a cage stuffed full of snakes. Brian sincerely hoped they wouldn't end up as potion ingredients.

The next day during break, Brian visited Malfoy, who was still in the hospital wing.

While his condition had improved, his face remained swollen, and he refused to leave the hospital bed.

Malfoy was quite unhappy about Snape's point distribution from the previous night; he felt he deserved a lot of credit. If he hadn't shouted, Zabini and the others might have had a much worse fate.

"That night, I was wrapped up by that big snake. It bit me and stared at me like it wanted to swallow me," Malfoy recounted once he felt better. "I knew Zabini must have had a much scarier experience, so I yelled loudly to scare the snake away, hoping to grab everyone's attention and wake Brian up to save the others…"

No matter what anyone else thought, Zabini appreciated their efforts.

He was quite thankful to both Brian and Malfoy for rescuing him and managed to maintain a good relationship with them afterward.

Zabini had always struggled to make friends due to his self-centered nature and his mother's poor reputation. She was a well-known serpent woman who had been widowed six times, each time inheriting a fortune. People speculated about how long her latest husband would stay.

The day after Zabini was bitten, his striking serpent of a mother came to visit him, shedding tears like a rain-soaked blossom as she embraced him. Out of gratitude, she gave Brian a big hug and even kissed his cheek.

This made Brian feel a bit bashful.

Mrs. Zabini was indeed stunning, with cascading golden hair, an alluring figure, and an innate charm in her every smile and gesture, radiating an enchanting grace. To Brian, she resembled a seductress, yet her presence was distinctly more noble and elegant.

She also moved in the same circles as Brian's mother.

Brian's father had once said she was the most beautiful, mesmerizing, and dangerous woman he'd ever laid eyes on. This made Mrs. Walker quite upset, leaving her with a discontented expression for quite a while.

"She truly is a remarkable woman, and quite dangerous," Brian thought to himself, consciously keeping a respectful distance from her.

Eventually, in the presence of Brian and Malfoy, Zabini dialed back his usual self-importance and managed to engage positively.

However, it was clear that Zabini developed a genuine aversion to snakes, gasping and shuddering whenever he spotted the snake on the Slytherin badge.

It was apparent that he wouldn't be playing with snakes anymore.

Malfoy teased him for being a coward, yet he himself was still evidently rattled.

He opted not to tell his father about the incident, feeling that being scared by a snake to the point of screaming would be too humiliating and a letdown for his dad.

This little event stirred up quite a buzz among the Slytherins for a while.

"I heard someone say that Professor Snape released those snakes into the Forbidden Forest," Daphne mentioned the latest rumor.

"Some gossip suggests he even turned them into specimens," Brian chuckled, shaking his head.

There were all manner of theories about what became of those snakes, but only Snape likely knew the truth.

Interestingly, Brian stumbled upon a silver-scaled snake egg left in a damp, hidden corner of the dormitory.

He pondered for a moment, thinking about hatching it and using magic to train it.

After all, silver snakes were quite rare and valuable due to their potent venom, making them popular and beautiful.

He created a ventilated glass container in a corner of the dormitory to mimic a suitable environment for the egg to hatch, reinforcing the box with numerous protective spells. As long as nobody intentionally let it out, it would definitely stay contained.

Malfoy displayed interest, claiming that he loved snakes the most and that the events of that night were merely an accident.

Daphne, on the other hand, was not a fan of snakes; despite them being the emblematic animal of Slytherin, she believed they were best suited as sculptures. She preferred cuddly, cute pets like cats.

She owned a fluffy, white long-haired cat with pale blue round eyes that looked just like a soft snowball, named Daisy.

Daisy was quite particular about her food, strictly demanding fresh fish and medium-rare beef. Daphne lovingly called her a spoiled little princess, caring for the cat as if she were a treasure because it had been a birthday gift from her sister.

Daisy liked to curl up in an armchair by the fireplace to bask in the warmth, her meows soft and sweet. She was quite fond of Brian, often jumping into his lap while he studied, and when he got distracted, she'd accidentally tip over his ink bottle, leaving messy black paw prints all over his homework.

Brian thought the cat could use a bit of discipline; maybe allowing her to go hungry for a few days would help curb her picky eating habits, a notion Daisy wholeheartedly resisted. Still, Brian enjoyed petting her fluffy fur, finding peace in the experience.

Lately, Brian had been contemplating how to create some more powerful potions.

His magical skills were progressing slowly, so he was eager to use a recently acquired point of testimony to level up from beginner to proficient.

Magic typically develops gradually with age, knowledge, and practice, so upgrading his abilities with this point wasn't a loss.

However, he noticed that even with that improvement, he struggled to cast some high-level spells.

His magical abilities couldn't be significantly enhanced right now, especially at his young age. He needed to consider alternate methods, given that his current situation felt a bit precarious and required caution.

He decided to concentrate on potion-making, which seemed a more promising route at the moment.

Brian discovered a book in the restricted section titled "Powerful Potions," filled with recipes for many potent concoctions, including the Polyjuice Potion. He copied the material.

From that book, he found the formula for an explosive potion that functioned similarly to a Molotov cocktail, capable of exploding and sustaining flames.

He paused for a moment, reflecting on how he already knew how to make a Molotov cocktail, which meant he wouldn't actually need to brew a potion.

Nevertheless, potions were undeniably more convenient to carry, safer, and more stable.

During his spare time in the Room of Requirement, he brewed ten bottles of the explosive potion, believing he had completed the task.

Yet he recognized the dangers involved. If he miscalculated the dosage of certain materials or the cooking time, it could easily lead to an explosion.

Even with the safety of the Room of Requirement, Brian still managed to get covered in debris, having to use the protective spell activated by the alchemical item his mother gifted him a few times.

"This really lives up to its reputation as a book from the Restricted Section; it's far too dangerous," Brian sighed, wiping the soot off his face.
