Happry Potter: The New Player

Chapter 32: Investigating the Unseen

Upon hearing Evan's words, the three couldn't wait to return and speak with Myrtle. But from that day on, Filch would take a chair and sit in front of the bathroom every night, seeming to believe that Evan would enter when he wasn't there.

In fact, all four of them had the intention to do so.

But not even Hermione was allowed entry, as Filch had decided that Evan was the culprit. Though Filch did not know why Evan wanted to enter the girls' bathroom, he was determined to block his way.

For a few days, Filch wandered where Mrs. Norris had been petrified, wanting to clean it with Mrs. Skower's All-Purpose Magical Mess Remover, but it was in vain, the words continued to shine as brightly as before.

His failure to clean the walls made Filch even more hysterical.

Filch would hide in a corner on the third floor and watch every student who approached with his two red eyes, punishing people for anything, whether they were breathing too heavily or their clothes were too wrinkled.

"God, I must hit the madman who did this, but before I am expelled, I just hope I can petrify Filch," Ron said after being unable to enter the bathroom again.

But upon seeing Ginny's pale face, he quickly added that it was just a joke.

Ginny was in a bad mood those days, appearing restless after what happened to Mrs. Norris.

Evan asked Colin if Ginny stayed at the Halloween Party and he said she left for five minutes.

It was quick, but enough time to open the chamber and release the basilisk.

In the current situation, Ginny was the most likely to have opened the Chamber of Secrets, but no matter how much Evan asked, she denied knowing anything about Tom Riddle and the diary.

In the past few days, Ginny even started avoiding Evan.

Things became more perplexing as he became entangled in an infinite loop with how he kept questioning Ginny.

On one hand, according to the original plot, Tom Riddle controlled Ginny and opened the chamber. The questions Evan posed to Ginny were somewhat ambiguous, but they would undoubtedly alert Tom Riddle.

If that were the case, the next target would most likely be Evan.

On the other hand, due to the butterfly effect, it's possible that Lucius did not give the diary to Ginny, but the Chamber of Secrets has been opened, so Tom Riddle is controlling someone in the school.

Evan tried to recall everything he knew about the Malfoy family, but could only remember a few vague details, and the more he thought, the more confused he felt.

In the end, he had to give up his plan to find Tom Riddle.

So he had to return to his original plan, no matter where Tom Riddle was hiding, as long as he could defeat the basilisk, everything would be fine.

Evan knew where the Chamber was so Harry could open it, but the issue was his strength.

It's easy to say, but for a young wizard, it's difficult to defeat such a powerful magical creature. Thus, Evan has to accelerate his learning of curses and also has to quickly learn standard dueling spells.

Additionally, he planned to ask Hagrid for a rooster.

But he had no way to transport it, so he had to devise a way to record it crowing.

The Basilisk only fears the rooster's crowing, but there is no spell to record sound, so Evan had to spend a lot of time researching in the library, which made him look very worn out.

Indeed, the attacks have had an impact on nearly all the students.

The young wizards were concerned about what was in the Chamber of Secrets, so almost all the books from Hogwarts: A History were borrowed from the library.

Rumors were flying everywhere, people...

By the time the latest issue of Magic at Hogwarts came out, over 1300 copies were sold immediately, as Evan and Hermione analyzed the Chamber of Secrets.

The article was based on reliable historical facts, with Evan adding some of his conjectures. However, not everyone was satisfied; they wanted to know who the heir was.

Subsequently, the students began to suspect Harry.

On Halloween, the four people who found Mrs. Norris petrified were Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Evan. Hermione and Evan were out of place because their parents were Muggles; Ron's house was full of wizards, all Gryffindors, and Ron was just too weak. Thus, the only one left was Harry, who had defeated Voldemort. In the minds of the young wizards, only the most powerful dark wizard could defeat the Dark Lord.

During dinner, Evan witnessed Justin Finch-Fletchley hastily avoiding Harry and muttering "descendant of Slytherin" and so forth.

It made some people uncomfortable. Harry secretly approached Evan, and the four individuals left the Great Hall and went to the third floor. Fortunately, Filch wasn't there this time. As they were about to open the door, someone emerged from it.

It was Penelope Clearwater. She looked into the eyes of the four and hurriedly ran off.

"She must think we're up to no good," Ron muttered as he walked towards the bathroom.

At that moment, a voice suddenly shouted.

"Ron, what are you doing?" Percy asked, his face displaying complete surprise.

"It's the girls' bathroom!" Percy gasped. "What are you...?"

"Nothing, just wanted to take a casual peek," Ron shrugged. "We're looking for clues, you know."

"Looking for clues?!" Percy exclaimed. "I don't think there are any clues in a girls' bathroom, so get out of here now."

Percy urged them to leave promptly.

"Everyone else is eating, but you come here and try to enter the girls' bathroom."

"Why can't we enter here? You don't know anything," Ron said, stopping and glaring angrily at Percy. "I know what you're thinking. Listen, we didn't do anything to that cat!"

"I told the same to Ginny, but she still thinks you'll be expelled. I've never seen her so sad, suddenly crying like that. You should think about her; the first-year students have been distracted by this incident!" Percy said.

"Evan is also a first-year, but I haven't seen him upset about it," Ron said, his ears turning a bright red. "But you don't care about Ginny; you're only worried about messing up your future as a Prefect."

"Gryffindor loses five points!" Percy said sternly, deducting points using a device. "I hope this teaches you a lesson. Don't get involved in any detective activities, or I'll write to Mom!"

Percy walked away with his neck as red as Ron's ears.

"Ron, you shouldn't fight with Percy; he's just concerned about us," Evan whispered.

"Do you think I'm annoying?" Ron asked, turning around to face Evan. "First, it was flying the car to school, then the worms, apologizing to Myrtle, and now trying to enter the girls' bathroom. Everything is fine with you; I'm always wrong."

"Ron, Evan didn't mean it that way..." Harry interjected hastily.

"I've had it!" Ron exclaimed. "The madman could only attack a cat, so let him go and attack."

After that, he ran to Gryffindor Tower.

Harry and Hermione stood momentarily frozen before hurriedly following Ron, leaving Evan alone in front of the bathroom.
