Happry Potter: The New Player

Chapter 13: A Feast of Surprises

Half an hour later, Harry and Ron left Snape's office heading to the Gryffindor common room.

The castle was quiet as dinner had ended.

"I wonder how Evan is doing; I wish we could have gone to dinner," said Harry.

"Professor McGonagall doesn't want us to draw attention to ourselves," replied Ron.

"She didn't want anyone to think it's a good idea to drive a car to school," said Ron.

"Yes, but she could have at least told us which house Evan is in."

"He must be in Gryffindor like Ginny," said Harry.

"Given how smart he is, he could end up in Ravenclaw." Harry seemed a bit concerned; he likes Evan and wants him in Gryffindor.

"As long as it's not Slytherin, Ravenclaw is also a good option."

The two walked and chatted until they reached the entrance to Gryffindor, hidden behind an oil painting of a fat lady in a pink dress.

"Password," said the fat lady as they approached.

"Oh," Harry couldn't reply.

They hadn't met any Gryffindors, so they didn't know the password for the school year, but soon their savior appeared. It was Hermione, rushing towards them.

"Hermione, do you know which house Evan got sorted into?" Harry asked.

"Gryffindor! They flew him to school in a car and risked being expelled," Hermione said impatiently.

"Don't lecture us; we've been lectured all night. Just tell us the password quickly," Ron requested.

"The password is Wattlebird," insisted Hermione.

She waited outside to scold them and make them realize their mistake before entering the common room.

As the entrance to the common room opened, their words were immediately interrupted by applause, and Harry and Ron were pulled inside.

The Gryffindor students were still awake, all crowded around the common room, Harry and Ron becoming the new topic of conversation.

Evan was delighted to see them enter; he was finally free, so he quietly moved away from the center of the crowd.

"Evan!"

Evan saw Hermione's solemn face sitting in front of him and, in a pitiful voice, said, "Let me go, Hermione, scold me tomorrow, I'm hungry!"

Hermione shut her mouth but didn't move, pulling out a piece of chocolate from her pocket. Evan ate it, feeling much better.

With Percy's nagging, the Gryffindor celebration didn't last long, so everyone returned to their dormitories to sleep.

"Congratulations on being sorted into Gryffindor. I know I shouldn't be proud, but..." Ron said as he approached Evan, seeing Hermione looking at him with a horrified expression.

"How did I not see Fred and George?" Harry said awkwardly.

"I asked them to go to the kitchen to bring me some food," Evan replied.

"Oh..." Ron rubbed his stomach and looked cautiously at Hermione. "No matter, Harry and I have already eaten in Snape's office, so we're going to head up now, a bit tired!"

After a few minutes, only two people were left in the common room, him and Hermione, the fire burning silently, creating a somewhat strange atmosphere. Evan saw Hermione going over her schedule while underlining Lockhart's classes.

"Hermione, you know I bought many things in Diagon Alley, and I believe they should arrive tonight," said Evan.

"Yes, I remember, you promised to lend me some books, remember?" Hermione said tersely as she looked up.

"Of course, you can re..."

Evan could see that Hermione was still dissatisfied with how they got to school.

As soon as he spoke those words, he could see several owls appearing outside the Gryffindor tower window, so Evan hastily opened the window.

Around fifty books on magic appeared in front of the two individuals.

Hermione's attention shifted to the books Evan had purchased; there were many different types of books, even complete series.

As they chatted, the common room doors swung open, Fred and George entered carrying plates full of food.

"It seems we've returned too early; our hero Evan is out with Hermione," Fred remarked.

"And it looks like they've relocated the school library," George added.

"Finally, you're back; I'm famished!" Evan eagerly exclaimed as he rushed towards them.

"Of course, our dear Mr. Mason, it's a pleasure to serve you!" Fred said as he moved away from Evan and produced some red candles.

"This is your meal, so we won't disturb you during your candlelit dinner with Miss Granger!" George stated as he approached and lit the candles.

Both Evan and Hermione blushed as Fred and George placed the dishes before them as if they were waiters at a high-class restaurant.

Fred and George gazed at the embarrassed pair with smiles, about to turn around and leave when they noticed something outside the window.

"Look, what's that?" they exclaimed simultaneously.

Through Evan and Hermione's eyes, they saw a giant approaching the Gryffindor tower.

A few seconds later, Evan could discern it was a convoy of dozens of owls. The owls kept descending and appeared exhausted, so Evan hurried them inside.

As the owls landed, the ground shook slightly.

"Don't worry, it's something I purchased," Evan explained quickly. The expressions of the three individuals were of surprise.

"What is it?" Fred and George asked in unison.

"It's a newspaper printing device that I spent a fortune on in Diagon Alley," Evan said while feeding the owls and signing for the package.

"Did you buy professional printing equipment?" Fred asked aloud.

"Don't tell me you're starting a newspaper," George remarked.

"Yes, I'm starting a newspaper, akin to the Daily Prophet. I think I'll call it 'Magic of Hogwarts,'" Evan announced.

Evan unwrapped the outer packaging of the printing press, revealing before the four individuals a sophisticated silver magical device. Compared to Muggle printers, this device relied entirely on magic to operate and also had a precise calibration function.

"Think of all the wizards who graduate from Hogwarts; they have countless fond memories. Hogwarts is full of secrets, so we can start a newspaper that recalls, explores, and interprets those mysteries," Evan whispered. "Believe me, we will succeed, even more so than the Daily Prophet. We will become the most read newspaper in the magical world."
