Haikyuu - I Am A Different Hinata!

Chapter 58: Chapter 58 - VS Johzenji (Final)

"Ah… what a pain… looks like we don't have what it takes to beat them!" sighed Terushima from the bench as he grabbed a water bottle to drink.

"At least we managed to score 17 points on them; we pulled off some cool plays!" said Futamata, smiling.

"Besides, we've already made it to the semifinals! We've surpassed ourselves and had enough fun. Now, we just need to wait for the match to end and let our free-spirited style shine even more to enjoy what's left," said Terushima, laughing.

"SLAP!" The sound of a smack on Terushima's neck, delivered by Okudake, echoed.

"Hey! What's your problem? Why'd you do that?" Terushima asked.

"You wouldn't stop blabbering with that lame, defeatist speech! We made it to the semifinals, and now you're talking about giving up? Does that even make sense to you?" Okudake shot back.

"Who cares? Even if we try our hardest, we won't be good enough to win. It would just make the game tiring and boring," replied Terushima.

"Listen up, you idiot! I won't have the privilege of playing at Spring High at the end of the year because I need to focus on my studies. So I have to give it my all now!" said Okudake, grabbing Terushima by the collar.

"Hey! You two, stop fighting!" said Misaki, stepping in to separate them.

"It's this idiot who started picking a fight with me!" Terushima complained.

"Look, just take a good look at those guys!" Misaki said, pointing at Karasuno's players.

"What about them?" Terushima asked.

"Not too long ago, no one believed in them. People said they weren't even a shadow of the team they used to be. But now they've beaten several strong teams and are defeating us with no trouble. Yet, look at their faces… they're still serious," Misaki explained.

"I don't get what you're trying to say!" Terushima said, slightly annoyed.

"She's saying that no one's asking you to abandon our free-spirited style—after all, I helped implement it—but use it with the goal of winning! I know you can do it!" said Anabara with a serious expression.

"Alright, if you all insist so much, I'll try to play seriously until the end!" Terushima said.

"LET'S WIN!" shouted Okudake.

"Yes!" everyone responded in unison.

"Looks like the other team got fired up again!" said Takeda.

"That's even more reason for you all to stay serious and give everything you've got to reach the finals!" said Ukai.

"YES!" the team shouted together.

The second set began with Okudake serving. The ball flew toward Nishinoya, who silently received it.

"Nice receive!" said Kageyama as he positioned himself under the ball for a set. But at the last second, he tapped the ball over the net, performing a dump shot that was headed straight for the ground.

"No!" said Terushima, sliding toward the ball and using the tip of his foot to save it. He quickly got up and moved to the center of the net, waiting for Futamata's set.

"It's yours!" Futamata shouted, delivering a quick set to Terushima, who, after saving the point with his foot, instantly got up, ran to the center of the court, and jumped to spike the ball.

"They're playing seriously now, but their style hasn't changed… that guy just got up and went for a spike in a position that isn't even his!" thought Kageyama, slightly irritated.

"Don't you think that's fun?" asked Hinata, pulling Kageyama out of his thoughts.

"They just do whatever they feel like, and these unpredictable plays come out… it's pretty funny!" said Hinata, laughing.

"It makes sense you'd like that. You're as crazy as they are," said Kageyama.

"That's a compliment, right?" asked Hinata.

After Terushima's point, Okudake served again, and Daichi received it cleanly.

"It's yours, Kageyama!" said Daichi.

"Nice receive!" said Kageyama as he jumped to set the ball for Hinata at the back of the court.

"This is exactly what I wanted!" said Hinata, leaping before the midline. As the ball came toward him, he noticed the block forming and decided to hit it with his left hand, as the blockers didn't seem to account for it. The ball slipped past the block with ease and hit the ground.

"Oh, he hit it with his left hand? That's cool! I want to try that!" thought Terushima.

After the rotation, it was Kageyama's turn to serve. His powerful jump serve headed straight for Higashiyama.

"Damn it! Cover me!" Higashiyama yelled as the ball deflected off his wrists and flew to the other side of the court.

"I got it!" said Bobata, preparing to set the ball with a bump.

"Here!" Terushima raised his arms.

"Got it!" Bobata said, setting the ball to Terushima, who surprised everyone by letting the ball pass and hitting it with his left hand.

"YOU DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING!" he shouted, watching the ball slip past the triple block and head for the ground on Karasuno's side.

"Free ball!" said Daichi, calmly positioning himself to receive the soft, almost dump-like ball.

Seeing the ball heading toward him, Kageyama jumped and smashed it with an over-the-line spike that passed by Bobata's outstretched arms.

"Hey! What was that?" Okudake asked angrily.

"I saw him do it, so I thought I could copy it…" Terushima said, embarrassed.

"HAHAHA, it was so weak!" said Futamata, laughing and pointing at Terushima.

With Karasuno leading 10-6, Bobata was subbed out for Sekimukai to serve.

"Go, Sekimukai-san, show us what you've got!" Hinata yelled.

"Shut up, you idiot!" Sekimukai snapped, visibly nervous.

"Alright!" Sekimukai said, tossing the ball up, jumping, and hitting a float serve.

"FLAP!" The ball clipped the net and started dropping toward Karasuno's court.

"It's mine!" yelled Nishinoya, diving to save the ball with one hand just before it hit the ground and directing it to Kageyama, who set it for Tsukishima to slam into the floor for another point.

"That was a good serve, Sekimukai-san, but it's a shame you had to serve against Nishinoya-san," Hinata thought, watching Sekimukai get subbed out again.

The game continued with Johzenji's chaotic and unpredictable plays, now with a determined look and a desire to win. However, it wasn't enough to beat Karasuno, who won the second set 25-15.
