After Yu Dong got her hands on the land deed of the Mei family's restaurant, she walked out leaving a very shaken Li Wan who sat on her chair with a look of defeat.

"You are really going to let her have the deed just like that?" Her aide couldn't help but ask as she looked at Li Wan who was sitting as if she had lost a battle.

"What do you think I can do?" Li Wan questioned her aide with a look of helplessness. She raised her head and rubbed her forehead before saying, "You are forgetting that the taxes that Yu Dong pays are triple compared to the officials in fact it wouldn't be wrong to say that she is the financier of the second princess and her army."

"If she gets angry, do you think that we will stand a chance?" Li Wan knew very well what kind of person Yu Dong was, if she was to get furious then she wouldn't think twice before joining hands with Xian Xieren.

Since Li Wan could not allow that to happen she could only compensate Yu Dong.

"But it's really weird," Li Wan stated with a cold voice after a short pause. "How did the assassins sneak inside?" They have been keeping tight patrol and even made sure that no one would be able to enter without proper identification.

Her aide furrowed her brows and questioned, "Do you believe that someone is helping the Empress?"

"This can be the only explanation," sneered Li Wan. Her expression chilled down as she realized that she had overlooked the officials of the town, she had been too busy trying to settle Xian Zhenya and her concubines which was why she had no idea what was going on in the town. However, it seemed like some officials joined hands with Xian Xieren long ago.

To think that someone dared to allow two officials to sneak inside.

"Li Si, go and take a look at the activities of the officials in the Yamen. They were the ones who were responsible for properly identifying those who entered the town, it looks like we have a rat to catch."

"Well this thing is done," Yu Dong arched her back as she stepped out of the magistrate's office. She looked at the sky that didn't have even the smallest cloud and sighed, from the looks of it there wouldn't be any rain for a while.

But this had nothing to do with her. Yu Dong didn't know why there was no rain but when she thought about how this must be bringing trouble to that b*tch sitting on the throne, she decided to leave this situation as it was—— after all, if she helped the people then they wouldn't even think of dealing with Xian Xieren.

At the capital in the throne room,

Xian Xieren was breathing harshly. She looked at the officials and then questioned, "What did you say? Repeat it!"

"The people are asking for you to step down, Your Majesty. There are rumours that you have killed the late Empress and that you haven't buried her corpse which led to the heavens getting angry and punishing everyone by not making it rain," one of the ministers said while trembling from head to foot.

She really did not want to deal with Xian Xieren but there was no choice, as the commoners were getting more and more dissatisfied with Xian Xieren.

"How dare they!" Xian Xieren was furious when she heard that the people wanted her to abdicate the throne that she had got after years of scheming and fighting. "How can they demand me to give up when this throne belongs rightfully to me?" Continue reading at empire

She was the oldest of all the daughters that the Empress had, it was only right for her to become the Empress. And yet her mother only paid attention to Xian Zhenya, Xian Xieren could never forget the praises that her mother had for Xian Zhenya and as for her, she was treated as if she was a fool.

The ministers shook in their shoes when they heard Xian Xieren shout at them. What were they supposed to do? It wasn't as if they were the ones who were demanding Xian Xieren to abdicate.

"Catch them all! Catch those who dare to question me and throw them in the prison!" Xian Xieren announced. "I do not need such people who question their empress! Behead them!"

"Your majesty, you cannot!"

"Your majesty, this is not right!"

"Are you going to tell me what is wrong or right now?" Xian Xieren questioned as she looked at the people in front of her with eyes brimming with anger. The ministers all turned quiet as they looked at Xian Xieren who was losing all rationality. If this goes on, it wouldn't take long for her to turn crazy!

While Xian Xieren was going crazy, the information about her actions in the court was sent to Xian Zhenya.

"She has finally turned crazy, hasn't she?" Xian Zhenya remarked as she looked at the letter in her hands. "I cannot believe that she is actually thinking of ruling the country like a tyrant."

"The eldest princess was never fit to be an empress," stated Ma Ying with a frown. "It's just that she never understood her flaws and blamed it on everyone else. She is too petty and impulsive to be sitting on that throne."

Xian Zhenya sighed before turning to look at the third letter of the day, and when she finished reading it, her brows furrowed even more before she turned to look at Ma Ying and then questioned, "Do you have any children in your family who are good at stealth and intel collecting?"

Ma Ying blinked her eyes and replied, "There are indeed a few, but why are you asking this, your highness?"

"There is a debt that I need to pay."
