Godslayer: Reincarnated with SSS Rank Cultivation System

Chapter 128: Comprehending the Laws of True Ice

Wen Ran paused for a moment, a flash of surprise flickering across his face. But in the next instant, a twisted smile spread across his lips, a smile that was more mocking than pleased.

"Hahaha," he laughed, the sound echoing through the cold, "Do you take me for some naive fool, a boy who's never had a woman before? No matter how beautiful you are, I would never take someone as deceitful and scheming as you as my wife. You think I'll fall for that? Hahaha!" Find your next read on My Virtual Library Empire

Wen Ran's words hit with a sharp sting, and the Ice Empress, the once most sought-after beauty in the world, fell silent. She had always been worshipped, her appearance enough to make any man kneel at her feet, but in this moment, she realized she had finally met her match. There was someone in this world who did not care about her looks, someone who had seen through the mask of her charm and manipulation.

Her soul trembled in quiet acceptance as Wen Ran continued, his voice filled with disdain. "You thought your beauty could save you, huh? You're just a tool, and I've had enough of your games."

The woman, once a goddess of ice, remained still, a silent acceptance of her fate in the chilling silence that followed his words. Wen Ran finished the technique, and just like that, she was sealed away, her form now resting in the palm of his hand, contained in a small black box that was visible to the naked eye.

As he stared at the box, a dark thought ran through Wen Ran's mind. "What an idiot. I can feel the divine energy within you, and yet, you offer yourself to me like some simple prize. And for a wife? Heh... my life is too messed up for something as foolish as that."

He chuckled bitterly, turning away as he stored the box safely, his thoughts consumed by the storm of power within him and the cold, hard reality of his ambitions.

"Well then..." Wen Ran muttered to himself, his gaze drifting around the frozen room. The entire space was still encased in thick ice, but now, with the icy woman sealed away in the palm of his hand, the cold no longer bothered him. Yet, a lingering headache gnawed at his mind. He had been forced into wielding a power he hadn't exactly wanted. Yin energy, despite its usefulness, didn't perfectly align with his fiery nature. It was a tool he could wield, yes, but it wasn't something he had needed. Still, as his thoughts wandered, he realized that mastering both ice and fire might actually give him a unique advantage. The duality was strange but intriguing.

"I guess I could make use of this... having control over both is more beneficial than I first thought," Wen Ran mused. A slight smile tugged at his lips as he thought about how much power this new control would grant him. "Still... it's not something I needed right away... and yet, here I am, with these abilities at my fingertips."

He glanced at the thick ice wall in front of him, pondering his next move. "I need to break through this layer of ice... that will take a while. My time is limited here, though..." He sighed and settled down, crossing his legs in front of the wall. Unbeknownst to him, just on the other side of the cave, another individual was deep in their own thoughts.

A young woman with her focus sharp and intense sat in front of her own ice barrier. She was trying to comprehend the laws of ice, those laws that would grant her access to the inheritance that had already slipped away into the hands of someone she couldn't have imagined. The woman's mind was fixated on her goal as she cleared ninety percent of the ice blocking her path already, unaware that Wen Ran was so close to her on the other end of the ice.

"Senior sister is so amazing..." The young girl whispered, her voice filled with awe as she observed the progress of the woman in front of her. The others, disheartened, had already given up on comprehending the complex laws of ice. It was simply too much for them. Most youngsters, especially those below the Spirit Pagoda realm, would only start to grasp such laws once they reached higher cultivation. Those who could do it sooner were either geniuses or descended from divine bloodlines, god sent rare and extraordinary individuals.

"Of course, she is..." a voice broke the silence, dripping with admiration. A young man, standing slightly apart from the group, gazed at the back of his idol with an almost obsessive intensity. "Senior sister will one day be the true Ice Empress, and the entire world will bow to her might." His words were steeped in devotion, the kind that only a fanatical follower could utter.

The longing in his voice, however, wasn't just about her power. His eyes were clouded with a deeper, darker desire. "If only I could have her favor..." he muttered to himself, a wicked smile playing on his lips. "I would do anything. Anything to warm her bed. If it takes sweet words or even licking shit, I'd do it. Whatever it takes to be by her side..." His obsession was so deep, it tainted the very air around him.

Wen Ran felt an unexpected ease as he absorbed the laws of ice, much simpler than the fire laws he had struggled with back at the sect. The cold energy flowed through him naturally, almost as if it were meant to be a part of him. It wasn't just any ice; it was the true ice, the kind that could freeze even the heavens themselves, and without realizing it, Wen Ran was taking in more and more of the laws that governed it. These were powerful laws, far beyond what he had encountered before, and they wrapped around him like a second skin.

The energy coursed through his body, its chilling touch at first uncomfortable, then exhilarating. His skin prickled as the laws of ice took root within him. He could feel his power growing and surging with each passing second. The pressure within his body became overwhelming, like a storm brewing deep in his core, and then, with a sharp jolt, Wen Ran broke through. His body shook from the force of the breakthrough, and before he could even process it fully, he realized that he had advanced to the eighth circle of the Spirit Flow stage.
