Girl, Are You Well?

Chapter 8 - Desire

Chapter 8: Desire

Desire screams!

“Come! Follow me, I can give you everything. Even if I can’t, it’s because you’re not worthy.”

Life is truly bitter and tiring, striving and yet not gaining. So, why should I even try?

They say desire pushes you into hell on one hand, and can lead you to heaven on the other. Is it better to have desires? Or is it better to have none? Is it better to have big desires? Or small ones?

A person’s thirst for knowledge, a person’s will to survive – if not strong enough, even small setbacks, trials, and difficulties in the journey of life can defeat you.

The word “desire” – it depends on how you think about it, it depends on what you apply it to. When we apply it to the thirst for knowledge and the will to survive, of course, we want it to be bigger. When we apply it to the pursuit of material things, of course, we want it to be smaller.

Desire is like a fire. If the fire is too strong, you’ll end up burning yourself. People with strong desires will be tormented and suffer for not getting what they want.

Desire depends on where you place it, on what position you put it in. Find a way to control desire, to live a life with rhythm.

Don’t be sad for what you can’t get, don’t suffer for what you can’t have. Live happily.

Even though life is short, we still hope to live happily. Even though happiness is fleeting, we still hope for happiness. Even though we don’t know whether surprises or accidents will come first, we still need to face them with a calm mind. Life, besides surprises and accidents, is mostly filled with ordinary days.

Be happy when you’re alone, because that special someone is on their way.

Take care of yourself when you’re alone, for that special someone will eventually find their way to your side.

Make yourself better, cultivate a good character. When flowers bloom, butterflies naturally flock to them. When you blossom, your own brilliance will shine.

Any distant journey begins beneath your feet. As the ancients said, “Without accumulating small steps, one cannot reach a thousand miles.” Every far-off destination is reached through action. Even if you only improve a little each day, you’re still moving closer to your dreams.

We live not to approach death, but to live vibrantly, with an upward striving force.

Tyler said, “Let life be as splendid as summer flowers, and death as serene as autumn leaves.”

We all desire a remarkable life, but reality is often mundane. Why is your life so ordinary? Perhaps you hesitate to step outside your comfort zone, to leave your safe harbor, to venture beyond your cozy bed…

Not everyone can become Shakespeare or Dante. So what are you missing? Is it a lack of desire, or perhaps your desire isn’t strong enough? Does success hinge on the intensity of your ambition, or is it simply a matter of taking concrete action?

Putting your good ideas into practice is far more valuable than empty talk.

A snail can reach the pyramid’s peak, not through brute strength, but through unwavering persistence.

If heaven hasn’t bestowed upon us divine power, let’s earn it through hard work!

Meng Jinfei: Are you there? What are you doing?

Guoguo: Yes, I’m here, chatting with you.

Meng Jinfei: If life only gave us one chance…

Guoguo: What’s wrong?

Meng Jinfei: If life only gave us one chance, at least let me love you once.

Guoguo: Haha, is this your way of confessing?

Meng Jinfei: You may not love me, but you can’t stop me from loving you.

Guoguo: Hmm.
