Genshin Impact: The Crit Archon

Chapter 50: Luminis' Sudden Growth

The morning sun filtered softly through the curtains, casting a golden hue over the room. Aether and Eula slowly awoke, stretching and yawning after a peaceful night's rest. The room felt unusually quiet, save for the soft rustling of the blankets.

Eula's eyes fluttered open, and she glanced to her side, noticing something peculiar. "Luminis, you're up early," she commented, her voice still laced with sleep.

Aether groaned, rubbing his eyes. "Yeah, you're up early too." He tried to sit up, feeling the weight of his exhaustion slowly fade.

But as the two of them adjusted to the morning light, they felt an odd sense of... change. The air felt different, and they glanced toward the side of the bed where their son, Luminis, usually slept.

To their surprise, the small dragon-human child that had once nestled in the covers was nowhere to be seen. Instead, standing at the foot of their bed, was a completely different figure—a boy, no longer the 5-year-old they knew, but a fully grown 10-year-old human-looking dragon boy, his wings fully spread out behind him. His hair was longer, now a mix of yellow and blue that flowed in the morning light, and his eyes gleamed with a more mature, mischievous glint.

"Luminis...?" Eula muttered, blinking in disbelief. "Is that really you?"

Aether sat up fully, wide-eyed as he took in the sight of his rapidly growing son. "What in Teyvat…"

Before they could fully process the change, a loud scream echoed from Luminis' direction, sending a wave of alarm through the room. The screech was high-pitched but carried an unmistakable sense of panic.

"Luminis!" Eula exclaimed, leaping out of bed and rushing to his side. She had barely taken a few steps before the door burst open, and the rest of the household came rushing in.

Jeane, who had been in the area making her rounds, was the first to arrive. Her face immediately turned serious. "He's grown, but this is way too fast…" she muttered, her brow furrowed. She reached out, checking Luminis' pulse and assessing the situation.

The others arrived shortly after, some with puzzled expressions and others looking genuinely concerned. Kaeya entered with his usual casual grace, but even he couldn't hide the surprise in his eyes. "Is this normal, Lisa?" he asked, his tone lightly teasing, but also filled with uncertainty.

Lisa stood in the doorway, tapping her chin thoughtfully. "Dragons do tend to grow fast, especially ones like Luminis. After all, he's the Dragon Prince, but he's very human, too. I honestly thought he'd grow at a much slower rate... but this?" She threw her hands up, as if admitting defeat. "Yeah, I'm stumped. This doesn't normally happen."

Everyone stood there for a moment, processing the situation. Luminis, now fully awake and aware of the situation, scratched his head awkwardly, his wings folding behind him like a drake's proud display. "Uh... hi, everyone," he said, his voice a little deeper than before, though still carrying that mischievous, youthful tone.

Aether rubbed his temple, trying to wrap his mind around the sudden change. "Okay, so, we went to bed with a 5-year-old... and now we have a 10-year-old dragon-human kid. Not sure how to feel about this."

Jeane, after taking a few more quick notes on Luminis' condition, turned to the group. "This rapid growth is definitely unusual, especially considering his human nature. But... there's one thing I can say for sure—his body seems to be going through a very accelerated stage of maturation. Perhaps it's due to some kind of internal magic or a trigger we don't know about."

Aether's eyes met Eula's as they both tried to make sense of this bizarre development. "Does this mean his growth will continue like this?" Eula asked, her voice quiet but tinged with concern.

Lisa sighed, crossing her arms. "That's the million-mora question, isn't it? If we're going by dragon biology, it's likely that his growth could either slow down or stabilize at some point, but given that Luminis is a unique hybrid, we can't be sure." She gave a small smile to the now-older Luminis. "I guess we'll have to keep a close eye on him. Wouldn't want him growing up too fast, right?"

Luminis, looking somewhat embarrassed by the attention, scratched the back of his head. "I didn't mean to cause all this trouble, I swear!" he said sheepishly, though the proud glint in his eyes didn't entirely disappear.

Paimon, who had been hovering near the door, gasped and floated into the room. "Whoa! Luminis! You grew so fast! What's going on?" she asked, circling around him in confusion.

Luminis shrugged lightly. "I don't know! One minute I was just chilling out, and the next thing I know, bam, I'm this tall!" He gestured to his now grown body, clearly still getting used to the changes.

Aether rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "I'll have to talk to someone about this—maybe someone with more knowledge of dragons or magic. This can't be a random event."

Eula looked down at Luminis, her expression softening as she knelt down to meet his new height. "You're still our son, Luminis, no matter how much you grow. Just remember that, okay?"

Luminis nodded, his wings flapping nervously as he tried to hide his slight discomfort. "I will, Mama."

Kaeya, seeing the situation was starting to settle, flashed a grin at Aether. "Well, I guess you're going to have your hands full now, huh? It's a whole new chapter in your fatherhood journey."

Aether chuckled, ruffling Luminis' hair. "Looks like it, Kaeya. Looks like it."

As the room slowly began to clear, and the commotion died down, Aether glanced at Eula, his mind still buzzing with questions about Luminis' rapid growth. For now, however, there was only one thing left to do.

"We'll figure this out," he said softly, his voice filled with determination. "But no matter what happens, I'm not going to let anything happen to my son."

Eula gave him a gentle smile, placing a hand on his shoulder. "We'll face this together."

And with that, the strange new chapter in Luminis' life began—one that Aether and Eula would have to navigate together, with their family now facing a mystery that was as unexpected as it was intriguing.

The room fell silent for a moment as Aether's words hung in the air. Everyone, including Luminis, turned to him with a mix of curiosity and apprehension. Even Paimon seemed to sense the weight of his reluctance.

Lisa raised an eyebrow at Aether, her arms crossed over her chest. "Well, I figured as much. But that doesn't change the fact that we need a solution for this, Aether. Blue Magic is powerful, and right now, I can't think of anything else that could potentially reverse or stabilize Luminis' growth."

Paimon, ever the blunt one, chimed in with her usual exuberance. "Yeah! You've got that crazy Blue Magic! Why don't you use it?" she asked, flying up beside him and looking at him with wide eyes.

Aether sighed deeply, a familiar weight settling in his chest. His eyes briefly flicked over to Eula, who gave him a quiet, understanding look. "You all know, I don't like using the 5th True Magic Blue unless absolutely necessary. I've seen what it can do," he said, his voice heavy with caution.

The room was filled with an uneasy stillness, the gravity of Aether's words slowly sinking in. He had never used the full extent of his Blue Magic in front of most people—only when the situation demanded it, and only when he felt there was no other option. The power contained in the 5th True Magic was unpredictable at best, and it came with consequences that even Aether wasn't sure he fully understood.

"True..." Lisa acknowledged, her tone shifting to one of quiet concern. "It is risky. We've seen the destructive potential of Blue Magic before. But Luminis... he's growing far too fast. If we don't act soon, who knows what might happen."

Aether ran a hand through his hair, his gaze now locked onto Luminis, who stood in the center of the room, still a little disoriented by the rapid changes his body was undergoing. He was trying to act nonchalant, but it was clear that he, too, was struggling to adjust.

Aether's eyes softened as he looked at his son. Despite his reluctance, he couldn't bear the thought of Luminis facing even more instability. "I don't want to cause any harm," Aether murmured, almost to himself.

Paimon floated up beside him, trying to encourage him. "Come on, Aether! You've saved Teyvat before, right? You've got this!"

Eula stepped forward, her expression steady and reassuring. "We'll be right here with you, Aether. You're not alone in this."

Aether's eyes lingered on Eula for a moment, her calm demeanor giving him the strength to make a decision. He exhaled slowly, mentally preparing himself for the task ahead.

"Alright..." he finally said, looking around at the group. "I'll do it. But I need you all to be ready for whatever happens. This might not be as simple as we hope."

Without waiting for further response, Aether stepped closer to Luminis, who looked up at him with a mix of wonder and uncertainty. "It's going to be alright, Luminis," Aether said softly, placing a hand on his son's shoulder.

Luminis nodded but couldn't fully hide his anxiety. "I trust you, Papa."

With a deep breath, Aether raised his hand, the familiar sensation of the 5th True Magic Blue beginning to course through his veins. His fingers crackled with energy, a soft blue glow beginning to radiate from his palms.

As the power gathered, Aether felt the weight of the magic intensify. The 5th True Magic was called upon only in dire situations, its effects often being both overwhelming and unpredictable. The sheer scope of the magic could alter the very fabric of reality if not controlled.

"Here goes nothing..." Aether muttered under his breath, focusing his intent on stabilizing Luminis' growth.

A surge of energy blasted from his palm, encasing Luminis in a bubble of blue light. The room held its breath as the magic enveloped the dragon-human child, the glowing light growing brighter before it slowly began to dissipate.

Luminis felt a sudden wave of warmth wash over him, and for a brief moment, his body seemed to hum with energy. The rapid growth that had consumed him earlier began to slow, his wings folding tightly against his back as his body seemed to stabilize, returning to a more manageable size for his age.

The blue light finally faded, and the room fell silent as everyone waited for the results. Aether, still holding his hand out, looked at Luminis with a careful eye.

Luminis blinked a few times, running his hands over his now more stable body. "I... I think it worked!" he said, a surprised yet relieved smile crossing his face. His wings seemed more compact, and his height was now that of a 7-year-old child, no longer the towering figure from earlier.

"Is it really over?" Aether asked, his voice still filled with caution. He glanced at Lisa, who was now carefully examining Luminis, her eyes glinting with a mixture of surprise and satisfaction.

"Well, it seems to have worked," Lisa said slowly, her voice tinged with relief. "His growth is under control for now. It looks like the Blue Magic helped stabilize him."

Aether lowered his hand, the glow of the 5th True Magic fading from his fingertips. He exhaled deeply, feeling the weight of the power lift from his body. "Good... I'm glad it worked. But I still don't like using it."

Kaeya walked up to him, clapping a hand on his shoulder. "Well, you did good, Aether. Luminis is safe, and that's what matters most."

Eula gave Aether a soft smile. "You did what you had to do. You've always done what's best for our family."

Luminis, still feeling the residual effects of the magic, flew up into the air with his wings, testing them out. "Thanks, Papa! I feel great!" he cheered, his voice bubbling with excitement.

Aether couldn't help but chuckle at his son's enthusiasm. "Just... try not to grow any faster, okay?" he teased.

Luminis laughed, nodding. "I'll try!"

As the tension in the room finally began to ease, Aether couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over him. For now, his family was safe, and Luminis' growth had been stabilized. But the mysteries of the 5th True Magic—and its unpredictable consequences—were far from solved.

"Let's keep an eye on him," Aether said quietly, his gaze lingering on Luminis. "We need to figure out what caused this rapid growth, and we can't let it happen again without understanding it first."

The group nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation.

And as they all turned to leave the room, Aether's thoughts were already on the next steps. There was much more to uncover about Luminis' origins, his unique nature, and the magic that bound them all together. But for now, he was just grateful for the peace they had, and the family that kept him grounded.
