Chapter 31: The Wind Dragon.
Venti looked at the group. "Eveyrone get ready"
Aether then spoke in his mind. 'system the dagger and armour will help Eula ans Luminis safe right, I did get it from you"
The system answee him
[ The weapon and armour were ment for you, but yes and yes they can crit with does as well, even in defense, also heads up you may have to use me ]
Aether looked at the golden screen. "That is not worrying at all"
As the group approached Stormterror's lair, Aether kept his thoughts to himself, his mind racing about the system's cryptic message. He glanced at Eula and Luminis, both looking ready and determined with their new gear.
Venti raised his hand, a soft breeze picking up around them. "This won't be easy, but if we work together, we can save Dvalin."
Aether sighed internally. 'I have a bad feeling about this…'
Paimon floated beside him, noticing his expression. "Aether, are you okay? You look a little tense!"
Aether nodded slightly, gripping his sword. "Yeah... just making sure we're prepared for whatever's coming."
They all looked ahead, where the massive form of the wind dragon loomed in the distance, and the tension in the air thickened as they prepared for the battle.
They arrived to the highest part of Mondstandt, as Venti started to play the lyre, as then a Dvalin came up, as he saw all them.
Dvalin looked at Ventis. "Barbatos, you came"
Venti looked at Dvalin. "Dvalin listen please, we are here to help, your heart has been Curropted so pleased allow me to help you"
Divalin stopped and looked at Ventie his dragon eyes looking at him. "Help me... I se-"
As then a blast was sent to Venti only for Luminis to block, as eveyrone saw Cryo abyss coming from Dvalin back
The Abyss let out laugh. "Don't trust them all mighty dragon, if they wanted to help why would have brought the dragon child here"
Dvalin eyes moved to Luminis, he looked and then roar. "Barbatos your betrayed me"
Aether just looked at the Abyss and spoke in a quite voice. "5th magic Blue actived, I traget the mage"
As Aether activated the Fifth Magic, the air around him shimmered with a faint blue glow. The Abyss Mage, still smirking atop Dvalin's back, barely had time to react before he felt a sudden surge of magical energy wrapping around him. Aether's eyes narrowed, focusing on the Abyss Mage.
The mage's smug expression quickly faded. "What is this...?"
Aether muttered under his breath. "Blue Magic targets the source." In a flash, the Abyss Mage found himself frozen mid-laugh, his connection to Dvalin starting to weaken. The corruption tethering him to the wind dragon began to unravel.
Venti, seeing the chance, strummed the lyre again, this time more urgently. "Dvalin, listen to me! They are trying to use you. Fight the corruption!"
Luminis stood in front of the group, still holding his dagger, his small form brimming with determination. "Papa, did it work?"
Aether, keeping his focus on the Abyss Mage, replied, "It's not over yet. Be ready."
Dvalin growled, his gaze shifting between Venti and Luminis, clearly torn. The Abyss Mage struggled to regain control, but Aether's magic was already taking effect, weakening his influence.
"Barbatos... why did you bring the dragon child here?" Dvalin roared, his voice filled with confusion and anger.
Venti, still playing the lyre, responded calmly, "Because he is part of our future, just like you are, Dvalin. Let me help you—let us help you."
The battle was far from over, but the tide was beginning to turn in their favour.
Aether looked at Dvalin. "First why are looked at Luminis with hate".
Dvalin's eyes locked onto Aether, his massive form trembling with both fury and confusion. "Because he reeks of dragon blood, yet he is not one of us. Why would Barbatos bring a child who is part of the very thing I was betrayed by?"
Aether stepped forward, keeping his voice steady. "Luminis is no enemy. He's not a part of the past you were betrayed by. He's my son, and we're here to help. Whatever hatred or fear you feel towards him, it's being twisted by the Abyss."
Luminis clutched his dagger tightly, looking up at Dvalin, unsure but unafraid. "Papa's right. I just want to help you too."
Venti continued strumming the lyre, his eyes fixed on Dvalin. "This isn't about betrayal, Dvalin. The Abyss has fed off your pain and twisted your mind. You know me, and you know Aether. Trust in that."
Dvalin growled lowly, his gaze shifting between Venti, Aether, and the Abyss Mage still struggling under Aether's Fifth Magic. "But his presence... it stirs something old in me."
Aether frowned, thinking. "That's because of the corruption, Dvalin. It's making you associate Luminis with what happened to you long ago. But the truth is, he's just a child who wants to protect those he cares about."
The tension was thick in the air, but Dvalin's eyes slowly softened, though doubt still lingered. The Abyss Mage, realising his influence was slipping, desperately shouted, "No! Don't listen to them, great dragon! They will only betray you again!"
Aether clenched his fist, his voice firm. "You're not the same as the ones who hurt Dvalin. And neither is Luminis. We're here to end this cycle of pain, not continue it."
Dvalin's breathing slowed, his wings lowering slightly as the corruption began to wane. "Barbatos... is this truly your will?"
Venti nodded, his tone soothing. "It always has been. Let us heal you, Dvalin. Together."
The weight of Dvalin's decision hung in the balance.
The Abyss mage tryed to speak again. "Great dragon Listen to me beliv-"
As then a arrow by Amber hits The mage in the chest, a lighting snake by Lisa rapper around and aether shifter the world to bring to him.
Aether looked at the mage. "You talk to much"
As then he sent the mage to Dlicu as Dilcu just killed the abyss mage it's body turning to dust
As the Abyss Mage disintegrated into dust under Diluc's final strike, the tension in the air began to dissipate. Dvalin's eyes shifted away from the fading remnants of the Abyss, his gaze still conflicted but calmer.
Venti continued strumming his lyre, the soothing notes filling the air around them. "Dvalin, you've been deceived by the Abyss for too long. Your pain, your anger—it's all been manipulated. But this is your chance to be free again."
Dvalin lowered his head, his massive body still radiating immense power. "Barbatos... I want to believe you. But the scars run deep."
Aether took a step forward, his voice steady but empathetic. "We all carry scars, Dvalin. But those scars don't have to define us. You can still choose to heal, to break free from this cycle of hate."
Luminis, standing next to Eula, held his dagger tightly but with determination in his young eyes. "Please, mister dragon. Don't hurt anymore. I don't want to see anyone in pain."
Dvalin's eyes softened at the sight of the young boy, the weight of his words hitting something deep within him. Slowly, the massive dragon began to lower himself, bringing his head closer to Venti and the others.
"I... I want to be free," Dvalin finally admitted, his voice full of sorrow.
Venti smiled gently, still playing his lyre. "That's all I needed to hear."
As Venti's melody grew stronger, Aether raised the dragon tear in his hand. The gem began to glow with a soft, blue light, reacting to the music and the lingering power of the dragon. Aether closed his eyes, feeling the connection between the tear and Dvalin's pain. Slowly, the corrupted energy surrounding Dvalin began to lift, spiraling into the air as the dragon's essence was cleansed.
The group watched as the dark, oppressive aura around Dvalin dissipated, revealing the majestic wind dragon beneath. His scales shimmered with a newfound purity, and his eyes, once clouded with anger, were now clear and full of relief.
Dvalin let out a deep breath, the sound reverberating through the air. "Thank you, Barbatos. And thank you, travelers. I can feel... my heart again."
Venti grinned, his lyre still humming softly. "It's good to have you back, old friend."
Aether lowered the tear, its glow fading now that its purpose had been fulfilled. He looked at Dvalin and smiled. "We told you we were here to help."
As the wind around them began to calm, the group relaxed, though their victory had not come without its share of strain. Aether looked at everyone, feeling a mix of relief and exhaustion.
Paimon floated beside Aether, her expression filled with pride. "We did it! We actually helped Dvalin!"
Amber, who had been quiet during the cleansing, finally spoke up. "It's hard to believe... the great wind dragon, saved by all of us working together."
Kaeya gave her a smirk. "Teamwork, Amber. It always works wonders."
Diluc, his arms crossed, nodded in approval. "We've done well. But this is only the beginning. The Abyss won't stop here."
Eula, holding Luminis close, spoke softly. "We need to stay vigilant. The Abyss will try again. But for now... this is a victory."
Lisa laughed lightly, her lightning still crackling around her fingertips. "Oh, darling, I think we've earned a bit of a rest before worrying about the next threat."
Aether, still feeling the weight of the situation, looked at the sky as the sun began to set over Mondstadt. "For now... let's just take in the fact that we made it through."
Dvalin rose into the air, his wings spread wide. "I will return to the skies, Barbatos. But I will keep watch over this land. Should you need me again, call upon the winds, and I will come."
Venti nodded, his usual playful expression softening with gratitude. "Go in peace, Dvalin. Mondstadt will always be your home."
With a powerful beat of his wings, Dvalin took off into the sky, disappearing into the horizon. The group watched him go, the weight of their journey lightened now that the wind dragon had been freed.
Aether turned to his companions, a tired but satisfied smile on his face. "Let's head back to Mondstadt. I think we all deserve a drink."
Diluc raised an eyebrow. "You do know who owns the bar, right?"
Aether chuckled. "I wasn't expecting a discount, Diluc. But after all this... I think we've earned at least one free round."
Venti raised his hand enthusiastically. "Now that's something I can agree with! To the tavern!"
With the weight of their victory behind them, the group made their way back to Mondstadt, the sun setting on a hard-fought day. Peace had returned, but in the back of their minds, they all knew this was just one battle in a larger war against the Abyss.
For now, though, they would enjoy the quiet victory, knowing that together, they could face whatever challenges lay ahead.
Dvalin's words hung heavy in the air, causing everyone to pause. The once-clear sky now seemed to carry a somber weight as the wind dragon's gaze softened, focusing on Luminis with a strange mixture of curiosity and resignation.
Aether frowned, stepping forward slightly. "What do you mean, Dvalin? Your time has come? What's going on?"
Dvalin let out a deep breath, his large form lowering slightly to be closer to the group. "The boy... Luminis, you said his name was? He is no ordinary child. If he hatched from a blue egg, then he carries the legacy of the ancient dragon kin—the Anemones and Cryo Dragons."
Venti, for once, wasn't smiling. His lyre rested still in his hands as he listened intently. "I didn't think any of the dragon eggs survived after the great calamity... Are you saying Luminis is connected to that past?"
Dvalin nodded solemnly. "Indeed. I am one of the last of the original wind dragons that survived the great purge of the dragon kin. But Luminis... he represents something much older, something far beyond even my own time. The blue egg is a symbol of rebirth, and those who hatch from it are meant to continue the legacy of the dragons."
Eula, her arms protectively wrapped around Luminis, looked at Dvalin with concern. "But what does that mean for him? Is he in danger?"
Dvalin's dragon eyes locked with Eula's, filled with understanding. "Not danger, no. But a responsibility. You see, Luminis may carry the power of both Anemo and Cryo dragons, but there is a deeper meaning. Those who hatch from the blue egg are destined to be the bridge between dragonkind and humanity, uniting both worlds. And when that happens... my purpose will be fulfilled. The winds will no longer need me to protect Mondstadt, for the boy will be the new guardian."
Luminis, still young and unaware of the weight of Dvalin's words, looked up at Eula with wide eyes. "Mama... is Papa still going to be my hero?"
Eula, trying to mask her own concern, smiled softly and kissed the top of Luminis' head. "Of course, sweetie. Your Papa will always be here for you."
Aether, taking in Dvalin's words, felt a pang of responsibility. He glanced at Venti, who was deep in thought. "Dvalin, if Luminis is meant to take your place... what does that mean for you?"
Dvalin raised his head high, his massive wings spreading slightly. "It means I will rest. My time as Mondstadt's protector has been long, and I have done my duty. But with Luminis here, the winds will shift. It is time for the next generation to rise, and for the old to step aside. I will always be part of this land, but my role will change. I will guide from afar, and one day, I will return to the winds themselves."
Venti placed a hand on Dvalin's side, his expression a mixture of sorrow and understanding. "You've done more than enough for Mondstadt, Dvalin. If this is your time to rest, then we will honor your legacy."
Aether looked at Luminis, who was still clinging to Eula. The boy was clearly special, but this destiny was something even he wasn't prepared for. "What about Luminis? How do we prepare him for something like this?"
Dvalin's gaze softened as he looked at the young boy. "He will grow into his power, just as I did. But he does not have to face this alone. You, Aether, and those who care for him—his family—will be his strength. Protect him, guide him, and when the time comes, he will know what to do."
The group fell silent, the weight of Dvalin's words settling over them like a thick fog. This journey had been about more than just saving a corrupted dragon; it had been the beginning of something much larger. Luminis was at the heart of it, a child destined to bridge two worlds.
Eula held Luminis a little tighter, her fierce protectiveness showing. "He'll always have us. No matter what this destiny is, we'll be there for him."
Aether nodded, his resolve firm. "We've faced impossible odds before, and we'll do it again. Luminis won't face this alone."
Dvalin rose once more, his massive form casting a shadow over the group. "Then my heart is at peace. I trust you all will protect him, and I will watch over Mondstadt from the skies as long as I can."
With that, Dvalin beat his wings once more, ascending into the sky with the grace and power of a wind dragon reborn. As he disappeared into the clouds, the group stood together, united not only by their victory but by the new responsibility that lay ahead.
Venti finally spoke, his voice soft. "A new era begins... and with it, a new protector will rise."
Aether looked at the sky where Dvalin had flown, feeling both the weight and the hope of the future. "We'll be ready."
Luminis looked up at his father and smiled. "Papa will always be my hero."
Aether smiled back, ruffling the boy's hair. "And you, Luminis, are going to be the greatest hero of them all."
The winds of Mondstadt blew gently around them, carrying the promise of a new dawn and the strength of those who would see it through.
