Chapter 13: Chapter 13
Returning to Mondstadt, though the storm had subsided, the damage it caused was still clearly visible.
Repairing everything would take a lot of time and manpower.
"Looks like you've got your work cut out for you."
Diluc glanced around, his tone indifferent, as if it had nothing to do with him.
"Yeah."
Kaeya smiled wryly.
"But the problem isn't solved yet. We'll deal with this later."
Although the storm had ended, the source of the disaster—Stormterror Dvalin—had yet to be dealt with.
So, the situation wasn't completely resolved.
"I'll take my leave now."
With that, Diluc walked off in a different direction. Kaeya and Lisa didn't say anything.
Lumine just glanced curiously at Diluc's retreating figure but didn't ask any questions.
Kaeya and Lisa went to report to Jean, while Paimon, Lumine, and Famas made their way to the Good Hunter restaurant.
"Lumine, Famas! We've been working so hard. Let's grab something to eat!"
The ever-hungry Paimon was immediately drawn in by the delicious smells wafting from the Good Hunter as they passed by.
"I heard that to reward the Knights of Favonius for protecting Mondstadt, the owner Sara is hosting a mysterious event!"
"A mysterious event?"
Famas peeked into the restaurant. The owner, Sara, was busy in the kitchen preparing dishes, and the outdoor tables were packed with customers. Business seemed completely unaffected by Stormterror.
"Yeah, I heard it's a collaboration with the Liyue Qixing from the distant east. Apparently, there's some kind of secret code you need to say…?"
"With Stormterror attacking the city, Sara still has the mood to host a mysterious event?"
Lumine looked curiously at the diners, who were enjoying dishes she had never seen before. It looked like…
"Big Golden Finger-Lickin' Chicken?!"
Famas was stunned, almost shouting the name of the dish.
The three approached the Good Hunter, where Sara was swamped with work but still rushed to the counter to greet them. "Welcome to the Good Hunter! What can I get for you?"
"Mondstadt Hash Browns, Flaming Red Bolognese, Calla Lily Seafood Soup…"
Paimon, the food connoisseur, immediately went into ordering mode, listing off four or five dishes before finally turning to Famas and Lumine.
"Hehe, did I order a bit too much?"
Paimon smiled sheepishly, though she didn't seem the least bit remorseful—in fact, she looked quite pleased.
"Got it. Will that be all?"
Sara smiled, quickly jotting down the order before turning back to start cooking.
"Owner Sara, what are they eating?"
Famas hopped onto the counter, eyeing the Big Golden Finger-Lickin' Chicken the other diners were enjoying. A terrible thought crossed his mind.
"Oh, that's our new dish—Big Golden Finger-Lickin' Chicken and Crispy Drumstick Burgers."
"If you can guess the secret code, there's a special gift waiting for you!"
Sara brought out a plate of Flaming Red Bolognese, smiling at Famas.
She had seen the notice from the Knights of Favonius about a talking Pyro Slime named Famas in Mondstadt. This must be him.
A talking Slime? If Famas could help promote the Good Hunter, it would surely attract more customers.
Sara thought to herself, her hands moving even faster.
"But no one's figured out the secret code yet, so the special gift is still up for grabs!"
Sara finished the last dish Paimon had ordered and placed everything on a tray, handing it to Lumine and Paimon, who were waiting nearby.
"Ahem…"
Famas already knew what the secret code was, but with so many people around, did he really have to shout it out?
"Uh, Sara, 'A Meeting Across Worlds…'"
Famas whispered to Sara.
"What?"
Sara, busy in the kitchen, didn't seem to hear him.
"'A Meeting Across Worlds, Savor the Flavor…'"
Just as Famas was about to shout the code, Lumine and Paimon behind him looked at him strangely.
Famas's heart tightened.
"Say it!"
Sara came to the counter, her eyes widening as she heard Famas's words.
"'A Meeting Across Worlds, Savor the Flavor!'"
Famas, under immense pressure, finally blurted out the embarrassing phrase.
"Code correct! Congratulations! Famas, you've won a Liyue Qixing-exclusive Wind Glider and two new dishes—Big Golden Finger-Lickin' Chicken and Crispy Drumstick Burgers. On the house!"
Sara excitedly picked up Famas, gave him a tight squeeze, and then set him down.
"Wow, Famas, you actually knew the secret code!"
Paimon, holding the tray, flew over to Famas, spinning around in excitement. Lumine also nodded enthusiastically.
"New dishes! Completely new flavors we've never tried before!"
Seeing Paimon and Lumine's reactions, Famas breathed a sigh of relief, wiping away nonexistent sweat as Sara handed Lumine a red-and-white patterned Wind Glider.
"This is a really unique Wind Glider. Is it specially made by that nation called Liyue?"
Lumine took the Wind Glider from Sara, curiously running her fingers over it.
"How about we eat first, Lumine? You can try it on later."
Feeling the envious stares of the other diners, Famas quickly stopped Lumine from inadvertently showing off.
"Sure!"
Lumine slung the Wind Glider over her back, then picked up Famas from the wooden counter, nuzzling her face against him.
"Thank you, Famas!"
"N-no problem."
Famas just wanted to finish the meal and leave as soon as possible.
Lumine carried Famas, while Paimon held the tray. The three found a table and sat down. Paimon set the tray down, revealing a plate of perfectly cooked rice, each grain plump and inviting.
Lumine's tray held three aromatic dishes. One was a golden, crispy fried patty that Famas recognized all too well.
It was a potato pancake. Closing his eyes, Famas could almost feel the gentle breeze and taste the sweetness of dew. The dish was beautifully plated, making it even more appetizing, and came with a small bowl of fruit jam.
Next was the Flaming Red Bolognese, thin noodles drenched in a rich meat sauce, dyed a fiery red by the tomato sauce. It looked incredibly appetizing, with a sweet and tangy aroma.
Finally, there were the Good Hunter's signature new dishes—Big Golden Finger-Lickin' Chicken and Crispy Drumstick Burgers.
The chicken was coated in a seasoned batter and deep-fried to perfection. The mere smell evoked images of crispy skin and tender, juicy meat. One bite, and the delicious juices would flow, making it impossible to resist.
The Crispy Drumstick Burger, with its soft bun, fresh vegetables, and a piece of crispy, flavorful chicken, was equally irresistible.
No utensils were needed. Lumine simply opened her mouth and took a big bite of the juicy burger.
The Good Hunter's new dishes were so delicious that even Famas, who rarely ate, had several pieces of chicken. If not for their limited budget, Paimon might have eaten through the entire restaurant's supplies.
"Save some for later… We're running low on Mora…"
Lumine, who had only eaten one burger and a plate of Bolognese, looked on helplessly as Famas and Paimon devoured the food.
