Chapter 71: Inheritance dungeon!
Just then Whittaker received a message from his system.
[Guardian has slain 2-star Bone-Pick Giant Goblin. Obtained 200 Experience Points]
It was unexpected but Whittaker had received Exp for slaying a monster in the dungeon. Suddenly a large grin appeared on his face.
This was a large surprise to him as Whittaker didn't expect that slaying a monster in the dungeon will give him experience points. According to the books and mana net, the dungeon in the academies wasn't real, after all. They were only life-like!
"This is great news! I can hunt in the dungeon to make big bucks and increase my strength at the same time!" Whittaker exclaimed.
On the other hand, right after the ugly and fat goblin breathed its last, a blinding light flashed from its body and a green number rose from the middle of its head. The number said ten. Seeing it, Whittaker's eyes widened in glee and he dashed to the number while pulling out his Student ID card from his chest pockets.
He touched the green number with his Student ID and the ten points were absorbed into the back of the ID card. His Royal credits point increased by 13 points. He has earned thirteen platinum bars in some seconds, even though the monster he slew was classified as an E-ranked monster, it's still impressive to earn so much in a little bit of time.
Just then though Whittaker had received another message from this dungeon system.
‹Congratulation, you are the first F-ranker to complete the F-rank floor of dark door monster dungeon in less than 15 seconds›
‹You are awarded the earring of the city in the sky›
"City In The Sky?" Whittaker blurted out in amazement, and his eyes widened in shock when he thought of this well-known city of the Wind Kingdom. The city in the sky is the imperial land of the Wind kingdom. The elder brother of the mage king rules this place, and the mage king supports him by paying the expenses necessary to keep this piece of land afloat in the sky.
After the announcement, a light shone from the rooftop and an earring shining with blinding azure lights materialized in front of his crystal white eyes.
Dungeons were the same for everyone, but the entry point varied. For a normal F-ranked mage, being teleported right before the boss of a dungeon meant certain death, but for Whittaker, it was child's play. First of all, he could see in the dark. This gave him a massive advantage over the boss of the first floor of this dungeon. Secondly, not everyone would choose to target the nether region of their opponent but Whittaker likes to hit where it hurts the most. For that reason, he had made the perfect plan to effectively make the 5-meter tall zombie fall and expose its defenseless area, attacking which earned him a clean victory. Because of these two reasons, he managed to clear the dungeon in less than fifteen seconds and obtained a hidden reward from the inheritance dungeon.
Whittaker gazed at the earring, and the system's notifications popped up.
[Item: Azure Sky Earring
Rank: B-rank

A: Mana storage. Automatically store mana. Can store 500 units of Mana.
B: Flight: With a single thought, the Guardian will be able to activate the power of the earring, enabling him to fly while wearing it. Once the spell is invoked, the guardian will kick off the ground and start flying in the air. The effect will end anytime the guardian wishes it tom
C: Boost speed: The spell will increase the flying, walking, and running speed of the guardian by 100%. Decreases with the increase in rank. (Useable once per day)]
"This is way better than any earring a person like me can get from the market," Whittaker exclaimed in awe. Normally, to buy a B-rank item, a mage will have to join one of the following: a noble family, the army, a guild with a lot of influence, become a high-ranking association member, lastly join a special group otherwise it was simply impossible to get one hand's on a treasure like such.
No doubt, he snatched the shining earring as fast as he could. A B-rank treasure, whether it be equipment or accessories cost more than 100000+ platinum bar. He thought like a true merchant,
'If I am to sell it then hehe, becoming a millionaire is longer a pipe dream. But I will get in trouble if I did that!'
Selling it will attract unwanted trouble and since he has no backing, a person can even frame him for stealing a treasure. Whittaker has read a lot of novels and he knew that treasure attracts unwanted attention.
Right after, a return portal opened by his side.
He can leave the dungeon by taking the return portal. Just as Whittaker was about to leave, a white-bearded old man with hairs longer than his own suddenly appeared.
"Young adventurer, I am Zachary from the City In the Sky." The old man's voice was filled with vicissitudes and wisdom. The sudden appearance of the old man shocked Whittaker into a jump. He had even thought the old man was some expert that had appeared to steal his treasure. However, he let loose a breath after noticing that the old man was merely a holographic image but this image seems to possess intelligence!
"Zachary... elder are you the famous wine-brewer from the Wind kingdom?" Whittaker respectfully asked with an innocent smile on his young face.
"Indeed, it is I, Zachary the celestial wine brewer!" The white-bearded elder shook his head in agreement. He continued with a smile, "You are the first person to pass my hidden trial. If you wish to get more impressive treasures and become stronger then I can help you with that, but are you willing to accept the inheritance trials of mine? If so then bind with the earring and I will open up a portal, taking which you can go to the hidden part of this dungeon, my trials! If not then you can take the return portal to return to my old friend Yeon's home. The decision is yours to make."
