Game Of Thrones : Merchant of Two Worlds

Chapter 77: 77. Place 100 Soldiers

Boris recently took his five apprentices and assistants, along with the medicine Jason Liu had bought him , and went around the village near Winterfell, treating people for free. This also gave him a chance to practice his skills and teach his students.

Meanwhile, Jon was in the room next to Boris and had fallen asleep.

When Jason Liu woke up in the afternoon, he washed his face while Bella helped him and then stepped out of his room. He was surprised to see hundreds of people wearing new off-white linen clothes, lined up in five rows in the open space near the storefront. These were the newly recruited young soldiers.

Jason Liu and the one hundred young men, who were all around 18 years old, stood there for a moment, staring at each other. He felt he should do something, but perhaps it was because he had just woken up after drinking at noon that he felt a bit confused.

After some thought, he decided to assign McCann, dicken, Bud, and the other ten who had been trained by Jon to take charge of the ten newly recruited soldiers while they practiced.

Since they hadn't had time to buy weapons yet, the young Northerners picked up wooden sticks from a nearby construction site and clumsily tried to practice with them. These sticks were leftover pieces from tree cutting and weren't suitable for building houses.

Watching the one hundred newly recruited soldiers swinging their wooden sticks with confused expressions, Jason Liu rubbed his forehead, realizing he needed to find a place for them to sleep that night. He felt a bit overwhelmed.

Looking around, he saw that the new storefront was the only place large enough to accommodate everyone.

So, Jason Liu asked Martha to buy hundreds of coarse quilts in the winter market town and found two nearby women to help clean the empty ground.

He placed hundreds of futons directly on the floor of the spacious storefront, which could easily fit 100 people for sleeping if they squeezed together.

In the evening, when Boris returned from practicing medicine, tired and riding in a carriage with his two men, three women, and five assistants, he passed by the new shop across the street and saw young men lying all over the place.

"What happened here?"

Boris and his five assistants were stunned. "Where did Mr. Jason recruit so many people while I was gone today?"

The assistants exchanged glances, unable to answer Boris. They all referred to him as "Bachelor" to show respect, even though he had never been officially recognized in the city and didn't wear a necklace to prove his status.

At first, Boris felt embarrassed by the title, but after correcting them several times, he stopped caring. After all, being called "Bachelor" was nice!

Boris, in his thirties and never having received a bachelor's necklace, didn't know if there was such a thing as an "old man who can become a bachelor." Hearing his assistants call him that still made him feel good inside, even if he couldn't admit it on the outside.

As soon as Boris entered the store, Jason Liu immediately stopped him. "Boris, how did your medical practice go today?"

Without waiting for an answer, Jason Liu continued, "I just recruited 100 soldiers today, and you probably saw them just now. I need you to register their personal details."

"I need this done by tomorrow night. Can you manage that?"

Boris, feeling thirsty after a long day, lowered his eyes and gulped the glass of water handed to him. Finally, he turned to Jason Liu and nodded quickly. "Yes, Lord Jason, I will get the registration list to you by tomorrow night!"

"Thank you!" Jason Liu noticed the glass of water in Boris's hand and saw his dry, chapped lips. He smiled, "Drink up. It looks like you've worked hard today!"

Boris chuckled awkwardly as he drank from his cup. After finishing two cups of water, he sighed contentedly.

Meanwhile, in Casterly Rock, a grand castle built on a coastal rock, the Lannister family ruled over a wealthy region rich in gold, especially from their many gold mines. Casterly Rock City, the center of their power, was the most prosperous city in the western region.

In a tavern in the city, Odover gathered a group of small businessmen from the West to discuss buying natural gold nuggets for Jason Liu.

"So, Odover, is what you said true? Lord Jason in the East, who has countless amazing goods from the Far East, is willing to buy natural gold nuggets at a high price?" asked an old man wearing a deerskin hat.

"Yes, that's right! I put more than half of my net worth into a small piece. If he doesn't buy it, I'll lose out!"

now my money is tied up in it. Odover, I trust you, you wouldn't lie to me!"

"I have some too! Odover, if you're lying, watch out for my fists!"

The other businessmen clamored and stared at Odover, wanting to confirm his claims because this was a big opportunity.

Due to slow information flow, even though word had spread in the North about the high price being offered for natural gold nuggets, few people in the West knew about it.

"Of course it's true! I heard it from a reliable source; it's absolutely legit!" Odover said, slightly sweating. He was both nervous and excited. "Everyone here has so much natural gold, and Mr. Jason will surely be very pleased. There will be no problem getting the goods we want!"

Thinking of how Odover's goods from Casterly Rock had been quickly sold out by the nobles in the city, even Lord Tyrion Lannister sent someone to inquire about more paper, pens, and soap, Odover felt confident.

It was no wonder that these small businessmen listened to Odover and were willing to invest most of their net worth to buy natural gold nuggets from various mines in the Western region.

They were not jealous of Odover's success; they hoped to make their own fortune with Mr. Jason's goods.
