Chapter 549: The 536th machine fights Armor A (part 1)

```
There was trouble, but just a bit.
That was Bai Zhongqi's assessment.
When the humanoid mecha's weapon, which served both as a sword and a cannon, fired, Bai Zhongqi piloted his fighter through a violent barrel roll, dodging the powerful light beam from the handgun.
With a cold smile on his lips, Yuan fired his blade cannon repeatedly, hurling light beams at an extreme speed with a power that could match the main cannon of an ordinary escort ship warship.
This made Bai Zhongqi shiver; although the weapon wasn't large, its output was at least 500WM. While each shot's output couldn't catch up with the Incandescence Cannon of Bai Zhongqi's fighter, this weapon was capable of rapid-fire.
Bai Zhongqi's quick emergency maneuvers showcased the Iridium Star Chancellor's astonishing skill in piloting and operating a fighter. Having previously been the man behind the scenes, Bai Zhongqi had never had a real chance to join the battlefield, but that didn't mean he lacked the ability to become an ace mechanic.
This super fighter far surpassed the average tactical space fighter. Under Bai Zhongqi's control, it responded perfectly, and even though Yuan's mecha assaults were fierce, Bai Zhongqi still narrowly avoided each attack.
To Bai Zhongqi, it wasn't too complicated a task; although it was extremely energy-consuming, Yuan's attacks were quite predictable. Light beams might be fast, but with preemptive calculations and trajectory predictions, Bai Zhongqi could dodge them with ease. This was thanks to the computer systems installed in the fighter, which was always a strength of Iridium Star's weaponry. Although these weapons were no longer of Iridium Star, Bai Zhongqi was the Iridium Star Chancellor, and within his First Universe, an Empire still slumbered. Having a thorough familiarity with Iridium Star's combat style, he could naturally adapt these elements using the technology of the Swarm and the Elder Race.
Bai Zhongqi's performance made Yuan find him an annoying fly. The Three-Star Bishop snorted coldly as the optical components (written as LED) on the mecha emitted a burst of light, seemingly enveloping the entire mecha in a blaze of intense light.
Energy erupted from the mecha's core and converged on the blade cannon. What had once been a slender beam now increased several fold, striking with even more ferocity and speed.
Seeing the situation turn grim, Bai Zhongqi grew more alarmed at the mecha's horror. His hands moved swiftly, immediately propelling the fighter into a short-range warp, escaping hundreds of kilometers in an instant, causing all of Yuan's attacks to miss.
Bai Zhongqi's brow furrowed deeply, certain that this mecha had some connection to the Elder Race. However, the Elder Race was quite diverse because many Elders lived in states of non-communication, and conflicts between them were rare. Each Elder Race was relatively independent, and even though each held high levels of technological knowledge, there were still significant differences.
Like the mecha in front of him, Bai Zhongqi suspected it was the work of some "kin" who had nothing better to do and used techniques not known to Bai Zhongqi to create such a terrifyingly powerful set of equipment.
However, Bai Zhongqi had no intention of admitting defeat. Just because a stray dog was equipped with a tiger's claws and teeth didn't mean it could actually beat a tiger. For a tiger to kill a stray dog, it was still a matter of a simple swipe.
Bai Zhongqi's hand gripping the joystick, his thumb twisted slightly before pressing down on the button.
The Incandescence Cannon fired again, its terrifyingly powerful shot aimed directly at the mecha. No matter how vicious its previous attacks were, once Bai Zhongqi jumped to its rear and locked on, a single shot was fired.
And just as Bai Zhongqi had done, Yuan sensed the instant Bai Zhongqi began the short-range warp to dodge and immediately initiated his own short-range warp. To many high-level civilizations, this technology was as difficult as ascending to the heavens, yet on two war machines of the Elder Race, it was as simple as eating and drinking.
At this moment, on the small asteroid, members of the Star Warrior Sect were closely watching this fight to the death.
```

When Yuan originally took out the Soul Extinction, the people of the Star Warrior Sect were overjoyed, but seeing Bai Zhongqi's fighter go toe-to-toe with it, also managing to give as good as it got, they were all stunned.

A single mecha, a single warplane, engaging in instantaneous transmission in space, firing bullets capable of sweeping across a wide swath of targets—this level of attack capability and strength left everyone feeling dazed.

The members of the Star Warrior Sect were astonished to be witnessing such an incredibly brilliant yet perilously fierce battle. This mode of fighting was not at all a normal space battle; it was too bizarre and fantastical for comprehension.

Yuan dodged Bai Zhongqi's Incandescence Cannon in the same manner and began to regard his opponent with a bit more respect. He was now convinced that the fighter in the hands of his adversary, although not as formidable as his Soul Extinction, was nevertheless a very powerful weapon of war.

"If I could also get my hands on this fighter, my strength would surely climb to the next level!" Yuan looked at the miraculous fighter with great fervor.

He suddenly pushed the mecha's engines to their limits, and two beams of blue light ejected from the rear exhaust, propelling the mecha toward Bai Zhongqi at an incredibly high speed.

Bai Zhongqi was taken aback; he hadn't expected the mecha to fly faster than his own fighter. This wasn't so hard to understand, though, as space had no aerodynamics to contend with, meaning there was little resistance for the mecha, and the force applied was entirely dependent on the thrust.

As Yuan charged forward, he also opened fire, using an even more erratic flight pattern this time to create different angles of attack, which caused his gunfire to come from various directions, making it even harder for Bai Zhongqi to dodge.

Both war vehicles were now unable to initiate short-range warp immediately; Bai Zhongqi would also have to wait a little longer before he could fire the Incandescence Cannon again, but the Soul Extinction could continue to attack his plane with relentless suppressive fire.

Bai Zhongqi really was risking his life trying to evade the strikes, but this also spurred him to unlock his potential as he continuously dodged the barrage.

After avoiding hundreds of shots, Bai Zhongqi still couldn't avoid taking a hit. Although the shot did not break through the fighter's shield, it did push his fighter a considerable distance away.

Yuan's eyes shone with a fierce light as he continued to wield the Blade Cannon in a frenzy of attacks.

But Bai Zhongqi remained composed, showing not the slightest fear.

He initiated a short-distance warp, and in less than a second, Bai Zhongqi's fighter appeared behind the mecha, less than five meters away.

Bai Zhongqi let out a smirk, firing the Incandescence Cannon once more.

Two white beams struck the Soul Extinction with a roar, the bright light almost covering half the sky. This dreaded attack, once capable of piercing through the shield of the Sect's main battle ship and even sinking it directly, now, as it hit the Soul Extinction, caused everyone on the asteroid from the Sect to panic.

The strike just now was made from an incredibly close range. Bai Zhongqi had been building up power before the warp, and as soon as the warp completed, he attacked instantly. Even Yuan didn't have time to react and was squarely hit.

As the luminosity faded, the mecha Soul Extinction was seen standing in the original spot, its left arm holding up a shield, almost deformed but the mecha had not suffered any substantial damage.
