Chapter 539: 526 Proposal

A layer of frost instantly formed on Bai Zhongqi's face.

This familiar name had tormented Bai Zhongqi countless times in his agony. Although during the Wuyagong incident, Bai played only an accomplice's role and barely spoke, having a very thin presence, without him, the Wuyagong incident would not have proceeded so smoothly.

Bai Zhongqi considered Bai one of the three main culprits he detested the most.

Bai Zhongqi had taken him across the vast universe, sent him back to his home planet, and even enhanced his home planet, providing its people with new lives and dignity. Perhaps these actions hadn't directly benefitted Bai, but Bai Zhongqi never believed he owed anything to him.

Bai's betrayal was something Bai Zhongqi had never understood.

However, today, Bai Zhongqi heard a string of titles belonging to Bai.

He softly asked Lan Xue, "What exactly is the Star Warrior Sect?"

Lan Xue paused the video transmission, allowing others to see only her poised and proper demeanor. Then she began to explain to Bai Zhongqi, "The Star Warrior Sect is one of the most mysterious organizations in the Galaxy; it's said to have existed for over ten thousand years. It is a vast force composed entirely of Star Warriors and has even derived a belief system from Star Energy. The Star Warrior Sect is different from other forces as they are rooted in different civilizations, but they also have their own base, called the Sanctuary, yet no one knows where it is located.

The Star Warriors firmly believe that Star Energy is the origin of the universe, and that they are the chosen ones of the universe, destined to possess true knowledge of the world and the fate of the universe, thus deserving worship. The Star Warrior Sect provides protection to hundreds of civilizations, and correspondingly, Star Warriors born within these civilizations must become members of the Sect. The Sect provides better resources to the Star Warriors and trains them to constantly grow stronger, thereby making the Star Warrior Sect even more powerful.

The civilizations under the protection of the Star Warrior Sect all believe in the supremacy of Star Energy and worship the Star Warriors as demi-gods walking among them."

Bai Zhongqi was somewhat amazed, "These people are quite impressive, managing to establish such a system. If what you say is true, then the Star Warrior Sect should be no weaker than the High Council."

Lan Xue shook her head and said, "That may not necessarily be true. The civilizations under the Sect are mostly mid-level or lower-level civilizations, not very strong. The Star Warrior Sect has launched several holy wars, targeting mid-level civilizations and never daring to confront High Level Civilizations. Even so, after years of holy wars, the Star Warrior Sect has performed very poorly. It's said that thirty years ago, the Sect even fought with the Enslaver Civilization, losing more than ten planets consecutively and eventually being forced out of the Kanna Star Region."

Bai Zhongqi seemed to have captured some valuable information. If the Star Warrior Sect had been at war with the Enslavers and even lost, then Bai Zhongqi inevitably needed to reevaluate Bai's identity. From start to finish, no one had truly proven that Bai was from the Taoran Star, although his story had been confirmed, but no one could verify whether Bai indeed came from that escape a hundred years ago.

If Hu was really a spy implanted by the Star Warrior Sect, then he indeed only needed to bring the people of the Star Alliance to Taoran Star, because there, the Star Alliance would definitely clash with the benefactors. And if Hu had been a sage in the Star Warrior Sect from the start, then his assistance to Xiao Yu in the rebellion, weakening the Star Alliance's power and even profiting from it, all made sense.

Although these things were merely Bai Zhongqi's speculations, Bai Zhongqi firmly believed that, in that rebellion, Hu definitely had his own agenda. And even if there were nothing, his status as Bai Zhongqi's enemy would not change in the slightest.

Bai Zhongqi gestured for Lan Xue to continue, although Lan Xue couldn't understand why Bai Zhongqi was asking about these things. Her knowledge of the Star Warrior Sect was due to her mother and aunt, who had been collecting information on the Sect for years. The Hu she just mentioned was also of great interest to them.

In the holographic video, the person who claimed to be the archbishop of the Star Warrior Sect looked indifferent yet arrogant. He was not flamboyant, but he couldn't hide the air of "forgive my bluntness, but everyone here is an idiot" in his eyes.

The leader of the Satellite Wolf Mercenary Corps, a fellow called Grey Mouse, spoke in a slightly mocking tone, "Mr. Archbishop, if you're trying to make us back off, I think it's a waste of words. Though the Star Warrior Sect is powerful, your presence today is insufficient to contend with everyone here."

Grey Mouse was a furry, intelligent creature with a large tail, whose head resembled both a wolf and a mouse. Lan Xue explained to Bai Zhongqi, "Grey Mouse is a Dotari. Most of the leaders in the Satellite Wolves are Dotari people. The Dotari are ruthless and united. When they come together, they are formidable foes."

Bai Zhongqi nodded and continued listening to their bickering.

With that, Grey Mouse had clearly pitted the Star Warrior Sect against other factions. The archbishop, a wise man, remained unflustered. With a scornful look, he clarified, "The Golden Great Sail Ship is right there. Whoever has the capability can seize it. It's fair competition. The Star Warrior Sect has always been upright and has no intention of playing the villain."

Everybody breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this from the Star Warrior Sect. Although they had only one ship, it was manned by several Star Warriors; no one knew the extent of their formidable combat power. If the person who came had been the archbishop's master, a Star Warrior master, then practically everyone present could forget about the treasure and might as well wait to be slaughtered.

However, the archbishop then proposed, "To seize the Golden Great Sail Ship, some basic strength is necessary. Those of you with ships and ample hands here are certainly credible competitors. However, those various riff-raff on the ground are really an eyesore, and they are destined not to get anything. Their presence here hinders our actions. I suggest we eliminate them first."

Bai Zhongqi and Lan Xue could not help but be shocked, and the lone wolves who had just joined Bai Zhongqi's warship were secretly relieved that they were on Bai Zhongqi's ship; otherwise, they would have been among those on the ground being indiscriminately slaughtered.

Bai Zhongqi's face remained impassive; he had no intention of saving those people below. Since they had come to this planet, their lives were essentially forfeited.

All the forces in control of warships were indeed appreciative of the archbishop's suggestion. Suddenly, the cannons of multiple ships were aimed at the crowd on the ground…
