Flame and Crimson: OC x Ruby (DBXV x RWBY)

Hey everyone Novaflame6_Badal here, hopefully you guys enjoyed last chapter. This chapter will be kind of a filler chapter as it will start getting into the dragon ball xenoverse side of the story. Also I forgot to mention this, but there will be some elements of Black Clover in this story (Magic and Demons, Mainly.) no actual Black Clover characters appear in this story unfortunately. Much as I'd like to include them, I'm not sure I'd be able to keep the character of the Black Clover cast unblemished lol.

For this reason, I'm simply just focusing on the magic side of said series. As for pairings I have narrowed each pairing down and here's what I have so far:

This is what i have so far but some of those could change. As you'll notice i changed Kanna's name to Khanna. This is just so it's spelled different, so it's unique.

I can't list who the other option for Jaune is because that would be spoilers for something taking place later in the story, same for Hailfire's pairing. Anyways, that's all for now. onto the story!

P.s.- I don't own any characters from dragon ball Xenoverse or Rwby. This belongs to their respective creators (Akira Toriyama/Toei Animation and Rooster Teeth/Monty Oum). I only own the main oc's who appear in this story and have permission to use the characters Tarro and Daikon from a friend.

Ruby is seen walking towards class one sunny afternoon. She thought of the events that transpired a few days ago. She smiled when thinking of the friends she's made since coming to Beacon. On the way towards class, she happened to spot Odyn, one of the teens she'd become friends with. Ruby didn't know very much about him, but she felt like she would if she made a concerted effort to spend more time with him.

The girl bounded up to the dark teen and his companions, smiling as she greeted the group.

"Morning, Odyn, Roy, Hailfire, and Flare! Oh! and to you guys as well, Khanna, Daikon, Baron, Note, and Beat!," Ruby said greeting the group of teens.

Odyn turned to the girl and smiled back at her. It was odd, but Ruby brought an air that just seemed to brighten up anyone's day. He knew someone that was alot like that... his sister, Sarai. Unfortunately, Sarai had been tragically killed many years ago when discrimination against Dark Elves was at its highest. This girl was similar to Sarai in alot of ways, and he hadn't even known her for that long.

"And a good morning to you too, Ruby.," He smiled back.

"Nice to see you again, Ruby.," Roy greeted her.

"Good morning to you too, Ruby. Thanks for a the other day, you really helped out alot.," Hailfire said.

"Morning, Miss Ruby.," Flare said.

Ruby politely smiled at the fox faunus and responded to her greeting.

"You don't have to call me miss, Flare. Just call me Ruby. Miss Ruby is um... a little to formal for me, heh heh-heh-heh," Ruby laughed.

Flare nodded and smiled back at the girl, happily understanding her request.

"That's understandable. Sorry if I made it awkward there.," Flare apologized.

Ruby waved it off and just continued chatting with Team OHRF and KDNBD as they walked to class.

Yang and the others saw Ruby's interaction with Odyn and smirked.

"😏 Those two get along awfully well, don't they?," Yang said smirking.

"It is rather surprising how well she gets along with him when she doesn't know him all that well yet.," Weiss said in observation.

Blake just smiled at this, she thought it would be good for Ruby to further deepen her friendship with Odyn.

" 😌 It's not really that strange to be honest. Odyn is a nice guy, but he's only ever really nice to Ruby. I think it'll be good for her to spend more time with him. Odyn may even cause Ruby to come out of her shell more.," Yang said smiling.

"She's got a point there, princess.,"Daikon said.

Weiss sighed and glared at Daikon.

"💢My name is Weiss! Also, why are you calling me that?," Weiss said annoyed.

"😏 Oh.. no particular reason. You just seem interesting when he make that expression. I guess your reactions are pretty amusing when you think about it.," Daikon said.

Weiss was already annoyed with this boy, Blake sighed at this. This would be a reoccurring theme with them, wouldn't it?

They followed the rest of the group to class for the day. As they walked though, Yang couldn't help but to smirk and inwardly smile at seeing her sister's interaction with Odyn.

There was just something about Odyn that she felt made Ruby happy.

"😏 Rubes says she doesn't have romantic feelings towards Odyn, but how much longer can she really keep telling herself that?," Yang inwardly smirked.

In Class

It was during class in a match between Cardin Winchester with his dust weapon named "The Executioner" (🙄 seriously who names their weapon that?) and Jaune Arc who was opposite him with his sword named Crocea Mors (🤷‍♂️ seriously I can't even with these weapon names.. 😆) drawn. He was leaning on his weapon, as if exhausted, in the spotlight shining on the Beacon Academy auditorium stage.

The Elves of teams OHRF and KDBNB scowled at seeing how Cardin was treating Jaune. Nevertheless, they watched, hoping there was something or another they could glean from this lecture. After all, they came to this school to learn more and prepare themselves for what was coming in the future.

Jaune looks at Cardin, who laughs at his opponent's fatigue, and Jaune gathers his strength to charge forward and swing his blade at Cardin, only for him to jump out of the way. Jaune looks back, surprised, as The Executioner sends Jaune's shield - and himself - flying back. Now only armed with his sword, Jaune continued to try and attack, but is blocked by the mace's hilt. Their weapons locked, Cardin forces himself up, towering over a struggling Jaune.

Cardin: "This is the part where you lose."

Jaune: "Over my dead-!"

Jaune is cut short as Cardin knees him in the gut, making Jaune drop his sword and fall to the ground in pain. Cardin raises his mace and is about to slam it down on a worried Jaune just when the buzzer rings, the lights come back on, and Glynda Goodwitch's voice causes him to stop.

Glynda: "Cardin, that's enough!"

Cardin relents and he walks away as Glynda comes onto the small stage tapping her tablet.

Glynda: "Students, as you can see, Mr. Arc's Aura has now dropped into the red. In a tournament-styled duel, this would indicate that Jaune is no longer fit for battle, and that the official may call the match."

While Jaune still lays on the floor in defeat and Pyrrha Nikos looks sad, Glynda turns her head to look at the losing warrior as he pulls out a smaller tablet with his low, blinking stats and that of his entire team.

Glynda: "Mr. Arc, it's been weeks now. Please try to refer to your Scroll during combat. Gauging your Aura will help you decide when it's appropriate to attack, or when it is better to move to a more... defensive strategy. We wouldn't want you to be gobbled up by a Beowolf, now, would we?"

Cardin: "Speak for yourself..."

Glynda heard that and immediately reprimanded him for that comment.

Glynda: " I believe that is quite enough out of you, mister Winchester!"

Cardin silently scoffed.

Cardin: "Fine."

Although he complied, one could tell that he really didn't mean what he said at all. Glynda adjusted her glasses and continued as she was now addressing the class. Several students she noticeably turned towards as she spoke became excited.

Yang punched the air in anticipation, Weiss was seen shaking her hands in excitement, and Ruby shook with almost uncontrollable excitement as she silently squealed.

Glynda: "Remember, everyone, the Vytal Festival is only a few months away! It won't be long before students from the other kingdoms start arriving in Vale, so keep practicing! Those who choose to compete in the combat tournament will be representing all of Vale!"

The bell rings, and students start leaving while Pyrrha continues to frown sadly. Jaune, still sitting on the floor, hangs his head in shame. Khanna placed ahand on Jaune's shoulder and looked him directly in the eyes before she spoke to him.

Khanna: "Look Jaune, you can't keep this up.

Jaune: "I know. It's just... *sighs in defeat* Nothing seems to go right for me these days. Why should I even try?,"

Khanna: 💢 What was that? I'm afraid I didn't hear that clearly, you Blonde haired weasel!

Jaune looked still looked to the floor as Pyrrha began to become nervous.

Pyrrha: um.. Jaune? Maybe you should listen to Khanna... 😨

The black haired and dark skinned teen stood over Jaune, her eyebrow twitching in anger. Everyone paled at seeing this potentially play out. This was going to hurt.. alot, unless Jaune remedied the situation.

Jaune looked up only to receive a karate chop to the noggin.

Pyrrha: 😅 Khanna? I think you hit him a little too hard.

Khanna looked and sure enough Jaunes eyes were white as he laid on the floor unconscious.

Khanna: 😅 oh... yeah you're right about that. Oh um... I didn't mean to hit him that hard.., Sorry Pyrrha.

Pyrrha: it's fine Khanna, but uh... what are we going to do with him?

Khanna: I'll take responsibility for him. I'm the one that knocked him out.

Pyrrha smiled as she and Khanna walked over and took Jaune towards the cafeteria.

Cafeteria

The scene switches and then comes back to a zoom up of Nora's turquoise eyes as she tells the story of a dream she's been having.

Nora: So! There we were, in the middle of the night...

Ren (off screen): It was day.

The camera then pans to Blake, who's not paying any attention because she's lost in her book, and Yang who is seen hanging on her every word with her hands cupping her face.

Nora: We were surrounded by Ursai...

Ren: (holding a coffee cup) They were Beowolves.

Nora: "Dozens of them!

She screams this as she stands at the table where team Rwby, JNPR, OHRF, and KDBNB are listening. Of course, Weiss is seen filing her nails and looking uninterested, Odyn and his team are politely listening along with Ruby and Pyrrha. Khanna and her team are also listening with varying degrees of interest. Jaune, (who is conscious now) meanwhile is messing with his food.

Ren: Two of 'em.

Ruby and Pyrrha look at a distant Jaune in concern now. Odyn seems to notice this and raises a curious eyebrow. He turns to Ruby (who just so happened to be sitting next to him... okay that's a little too coincidental 😂 Starting to see a pattern here 😆) and asks her if she knows anything about what's going on with their blonde haired friend.

Odyn: Say, Ruby..

She turns to him at the mention of her name.

Ruby: Yeah, what is it Odyn?

Odyn: Perhaps I'm reading too much into this but.. is there.. something bothering Jaune? He seems really down.

Ruby: I don't know Odyn... I was trying to figure that out myself. Sorry.. wish I could help.

Odyn: ah don't worry about it, you've helped me plenty.

Nora then continues and finishes her story as the teens gathered at the table listen.

Nora: But they were no match... And in the end, Ren and I took them down and made a boatload of Lien selling Ursa skin rugs!

Ren: (sighs) She's been having this recurring dream for nearly a month now.

Pyrrha is seen looking at her leader in concern before she speaks.

Pyrrha: (looking at her leader) Jaune? Are you okay?

Jaune snaps out of it and turns his attention back to the teens gathered at the table.

Jaune: Huh? Oh, yeah! Why?

Ruby: It's just, you seem a little... not okay...

Odyn: Ruby's right Jaune. You definitely don't seem like yourself lately.

The others he could understand, but he was a little surprised Odyn picked up on something like that.. and so quickly too.

Jaune: (the others stop what they're doing and stare at him) Guys, I'm fine. Seriously! Look!" (he holds up a thumb while laughing nervously until his attention is focused on the members of Team CRDL, standing around a girl with brown rabbit ears jutting from her hair as Cardin laughs at her and Sky Lark holds up his hands to his head in a mock interpretation of her unusual features)

This catches the attention of Note, Beat, Daikon, and Flare as they feel their tails start to twitch in anger upon seeing Cardin and his team's behavior. Odyn follows the line of sight and scowls, he absolutely hated people like that. Khanna wasn't sure how much more of that incessant cackling of theirs she could take and everyone at the table could see it in her eyes.

Pyrrha: Jaune, Cardin's been picking on you since the first week of school!"

The other two teams couldn't help but to agree with the redhead.

Daikon: I have to agree with Nikos on this one. That fool has been messing with you every chance he gets.

Jaune: "Who? Cardin Winchester? Nah... He just likes to mess around! You know, practical jokes!"

Hailfire: I'd call what he's been doing to you more than just practical jokes.

Ruby: Hail's right, he's a bully.

Jaune: (scoffs) "Oh, please! Name one time he's 'bullied' me."

Roy: Sure. I can name one time. There was the time in the hall...

Jaune is seen on the way to class as Cardin is going the other way down the hall. When the two pass, Cardin knocks his arm into Jaune and makes him drop his book, then continuing on his way with his hands out as if daring anyone to challenge him.

Jaune: "Ah, come on!"

Odyn: There was also the time you were on your way to another class...

Jaune and Cardin are about to pass through a doorway, but Cardin clicks on Jaune's sheath and extends it into its shield form as he's going out, causing him to run into his own defense and have it block the exit.

Jaune: (grunts in frustration as he tries to lift his shield back out) "Come on...!"

Daikon: Oh, and let's not forget about the time in the locker room recently either!

Glynda is in the locker room with several students, gesturing at the devices.

Glynda: "Each of you will be assigned one rocket-propelled locker to store your weapons and extra armor. Additionally, your locker can be sent to a custom location based on a six-digit code."

Hearing this, Cardin looks at Jaune - standing between him and the only open locker in the room - and the cliché plays itself out as Cardin quickly pushes a shocked Jaune into the small dark space and closes the door on him, pressing random buttons on the pad right after that.

Jaune: "What?! No, wait, wait! You've gotta get me out of here! Please! Don't! Don't! Don't do it!"

It's too late to protest when the locker scrunches down and launches up with a burst of blue fire coming from its base. Cardin watches as the locker slowly soars across the sky.

Jaune: (still heard from within the locker) "Ahhh, coooome oooooooon...!"

Khanna: Need we list any other examples?

The others are totally focused on him now.

Jaune: (attempts to laugh it off) "I didn't land far from the school!"

Baron: Jaune... you're deluding yourself if you think that's not harrassment.

Pyrrha: They're right, Jaune. Jaune, you know if you ever need help, you can just ask.

Flare: It certainly wouldn't hurt you to do that once in awhile.

Nora: "Ooooh!" (gets up from the table and presents her diabolical plan with a not-entirely-sane grin) "We'll break his legs!"

Jaune: "Guys, really, it's fine! Besides, it's not like he's only a jerk to me; he's a jerk to everyone."

They all look over as the laughing grows louder, mixed in with cries of pain from the rabbit girl when one of her ears are tugged on by Cardin.

Khanna, Baron, and Odyn notice their tailed friends reaction to this and start getting angry too.

Khanna: Excuse me for a second.. that is getting rather annoying back there.

Odyn: Khanna wait! (He grabs her wrist)

She turns back towards him, looking her cousin right in the eyes.

Khanna: What?!

Odyn: I'm coming with you.

Khanna: And why would you do that?

Odyn: Because I know how you are. Plus.. someone needs to make sure you don't go overboard. You'd do the same thing for me.

Khanna gave him a look before sighing, she knew he was right.

Khanna: (sighs) Fine, you have a point.

Odyn nodded as the two made their way over to Cardin and his team of hooligans.

Velvet: "Ow! That hurts!"

She grimaces as she stops struggling.

Velvet: "Please...stop."

Cardin continues laughing as he turns to his cronies.

Cardin: "I told you it was real!"

Russel Thrush: (still guffawing with his teammates as they continue to mock the rabbit faunus) "What a freak!"

Khanna speaks up in an angered tone behind him.

Khanna: Freak is she? Well then you're even more of a fool you idiots!

Cardin turned around, angered at who said that only to meet the burning eyes of both Khanna and Odyn.

Cardin: Well she is! An animal shouldn't be trying to be a huntress, I mean we'd be the laughingstock of all 4 kingdoms if we-

Khanna: SHUT YOUR MOUTH, YOU IGNORANT IDIOTIC FOOL!

Cardin: 💢 What did you call me?!

Odyn: You heard her, your royal doofusness! You're nothing but an insensitive racist minded fool of an individual!

Cardin: You little! I don't have to take this, you'll pay for saying that!

Cardin lunged forward, before his stomach lit up in unbearable pain as he hunched over. It was revealed that Khanna had her fist embedded into his stomach.

Cardin: hurgh! Y-You!

Khanna: 😏 Oh I'm sorry, looks like my hand must've slipped.

Cardin: You and your an-

Odyn: 💢 I know you weren't about to call my teammates and friends what I think you were, were you little cardinal?!

Khanna: So here's the deal, little red birdie... you and your band of little birds here are going to walk away and never bother any faunus students again, okay? Cuz if I hear you harassing or making problems for them again.. (cracks her knuckles)

Odyn: There will be consequences. You won't be walking away with just a few scrapes and bruises. GOT THAT, YOU OVERGROWN CARROT TOP?!

Cardin: Tch! Russel, Sky, Dove, let's go. This is boring now. Ooh, that hurts!

The three bullies then walk away leaving those there absolutely stunned that anyone was able to stand up to Cardin that way. This included Velvet who had finally found her voice after what she just witnessed.

She went up to Odyn and thanked both him and Khanna for what they did with a noticeable blush on her face.

Velvet: U-Um! T-Thank you for what you did back there!

Odyn smiled at the rabbit Faunus.

Khanna: Think nothing of it, someone had to teach those bullies a lesson.

Odyn: We're just glad you're alright.

Velvet: (blushing still) Th-Thank you still. I've never seen you guys before though, who are you?

Khanna: oh us? Guess you could say that we're fairly new here. My name is Khanna Andross, it's nice to meet you officially.

Velvet: R-Right! I'm Velvet Scarlatina.

Odyn: And my name is Odyn Albanar. It's nice to meet you, Velvet. I'm glad we could help you out.

Velvet smiled and slight bowed to them before walking away. Odyn and Khanna turned to meet by the stunned faces of team Rwby and JNPR.

Odyn: What?

Blake: You two, that's what.

Yang: We've never seen anyone able to do what you two did. How are you two so... unafraid of what anyone thinks?

Odyn: I suppose that was to do with the environment the two of us grew up in.

Khanna: The two of us grew up in a very harsh environment. You had to be thick skinned or you'd get eaten alive by what people who never cared to get to know you thought.

Odyn: We were the subject of all fault, the butt of all jokes, not to mention our people were blamed for every single bad thing that ever happened on Remnant. Do you know how horrible that makes a few kids that are just a little different from everyone else around them feel?

Ruby's eyes widened in horror and put of concern. Her expression softened, there was obviously pain there that both were still harboring and hadn't moved on from yet.

Ruby: Odyn... we're sorry. We had no idea you went through something like that.

Odyn recomposed himself upon recognizing how concerned he made the others in the room feel.

Odyn: Sorry abou that guys.. Wasn't trying to make you guys feel sorry for us.

Yang: Ah it's fine, Odyn. You needed to get that out of your system. We don't blame you for doing so.

Weiss: Yes. It is quite unhealthy to keep something as horrible as what you experienced as a child bottled up inside for too long.

Blake: I can relate to how you were treated odyn.. in a way that is.

Roy then spoke up, gaining everyone's attention.

Roy: Um.. not to be "that guy" but uh.. has anyone seen Jaune?

The teens looked around and noticed the blonde was missing. Jaune had disappeared during the conversation between the rest of the teens. A worried look crossed Pyrrha's face as her mind started thinking about where Jaune could have possibly run off to.

Yang: Okay new plan guys, we split up and find Jaune!

Pyrrha: I agree! We can't just leave Jaune out there by himself.

Yang: I'll go with... Roy over here to look.

The blonde slides up next to Roy and moves dangerously close to him.

Yang: What do you say you and I go look for Jaune together? Good lookin'~

Roy: 😅 Riiigghht... Guess I'll be going with Yang then.

Roy was practically dragged away by the blonde as Odyn felt sorry for him.

Hailfire: I suppose I'll accompany Blake here. I mean, if that's not too much trouble for you?

Blake: Nah, it's fine. I've been meaning to talk to you anyways for awhile now.

The Faunus and the Auburn haired Elven girl left together, as they began to chat on the way.

Khanna: Guess I'll go with Pyrrha,  Nora, and Ren. If you'll allow me to?

Pyrrha smiled at her. This would be the perfect opportunity to get to know the aforementioned girl more. Plus, they may find that they have alot in common.

Pyrrha: Certainly. We would appreciate any help you can offer Khanna.

The group of three, plus Khanna, all walked off together.

Baron spoke up then weighing his options beforehand.

Baron: I'll go with Flare then. We'll search in town for him.

Flare looked at him unsure voicing her uneasiness concerning Baron's decision of who he would go with.

Flare: U-um.. are you s-sure Baron? I'm not all that interesting of a person.

Baron: Nonsense, you're very interesting Flare. Besides, I'm not all that knowledgeable about the faunus.. maybe you could tell me some things about them while we look for our friend?

Flare: O-oh yeah, s-sure. I think I can do that.

Baron and Flare then left to go look for Jaune as well.

That left just four people left, Ruby, Odyn, Weiss, and Daikon. Note and Beat had decided to go off together and look, which made sense for them since they were always together.

Weiss wasn't liking these odds, the last person she wanted to be with was Daikon of all people. She went to say something, but noticed Ruby and Odyn had gone off together too. Now, she had no choice but to be with Daikon.

Weiss: Ruby wai- oh bother. This is just great, I'm with the one person I'd rather not be with right now!

Daikon: Come on, princess we don't really have a choice. So let's just get this over with.

Weiss: 💢 I didn't for your snarky comeback you! Ugh, fine! 🙄 Why me? Also.. 💢💢 My name is Weiss!

Daikon: 😏 I know what your name is priiinnncess.

Weiss: 💢💢 Y-You!!!! I am so going to give him a piece of my mind later!

Daikon: Time's a wasting shnee!

Weiss: 😡 I know it is! 💢 would you please shut up?!

Daikon: 😏 Make me if you can, princess.

Weiss:💢💢💢 You little-! I swear you'll pay for that insult later!

The two continued to bicker back and forth as the left to search for Jaune.

The next day...

Unfortunately, no one was able to find Jaune the previous day. On the way to class Ruby caught up with Odyn and the others while walking.

Ruby: Odyn! Wait up!

Odyn turned to look and then saw Ruby approach him.

Odyn: Ruby?

Ruby: (panting) I. Finally. Caught. Up. With. You!

Odyn raised a curious eyebrow at this and wondered why Ruby was in such a rush to catch up to him.

Odyn: What's the rush that you feel the need to catch up to me?

Ruby: oh, right! I wanted to ask you if you were okay from yesterday. You seemed... really upset. Just wanted make sure it wasn't anything my team or.. myself did to upset you.

Odyn smiled at the girl she was so innocent... much like how his late sister was. Odyn patted her head as he smiled in a reassuring manner towards the silver eyed girl. He assured her that it was nothing she did or said to make him upset.

Odyn: You're fine, Ruby. Nothing you or your circle of friends said upset me. I suppose my emotions when thinking of the past flared up again and came to the surface.

Ruby: oh. Well I'm glad you're feeling better then. But.. uh.. do you mind if I ask you something?

Odyn: Sure, go ahead.

Ruby: Okay. What did you mean by 'my people' back there? You speaking as if you weren't human or faunus.

Odyn: Right... I suppose it's only natural for you to be curious about something like that. Very well, I'll tell you since I trust you, Ruby. But you have to promise that what I'm about to tell you stays on the down- low.

Ruby nodded.

Ruby: I promise. I keep your secret safe.

Odyn smiled at her and then revealed to Ruby what he meant, while making sure no one was around.

Odyn: Well Ruby, I'll put it this way... my race is one that has been forgotten about for a very long time. No one remembers us other then a few from the older generations. We're known as Arkynorean Dark Elves, but for sinplicity's sake we are referred to as just Dark Elves or Elven kind.

Ruby: Elves? Like those mystical people who live in forests in fairy tales?

Odyn: 😅 You.. could certainly look at us that way I suppose. But we're also quite a bit different.

Ruby: Different how?

Odyn: For one, us dark Elves are trained warriors. Strong ones too. Several of my kind are very gifted swordsman, spearman, and bowman. They're skilled with dust weapons as well.

Ruby: They sound awesome!

Odyn: That they are Ruby. But that's not all they can do. They can also use Dust in it's purest form without the use of weapons. In other words..

Ruby: They can use magic?!

Odyn put a hand over Ruby's mouth to shush her, they didn't need anyone else hearing that.

Odyn: 🤫 Shh! You need to keep that under wraps!

Ruby: Oh! Right, sorry Odyn!

Ruby promptly looks around her to see if anyone heard her outburst. Luckily, no one did as the other students just continued on with their business.

Ruby: 😌 that's a relief... no one heard me! (Whispering this time) But.. really, magic?!

Odyn nodded. Ruby then turned to him with a question.

Ruby: Does that mean.. y-you can use magic too, odyn?

Odyn: While I certainly won't deny that fact, It's not like I go around broadcasting that fact to everyone in sight. I try and keep that fact hidden. If people knew myself and my companions that I came to Beacon with were able to use magic without dust, it'd be a giant mess.

Ruby: Uh yeah... 😅 I could see why that'd be a headache to deal with. I'll make sure no one else knows about this. But um....

Odyn: What is it Ruby?

Ruby: You uh... think you could teach me how to use whatever that other energy is you guys use?

Odyn was confused at this question until Ruby explained.

Odyn: other energy we use?

Ruby: Yeah! You know, how you guys can shoot laser beams from your hands!

Odyn: uh.. 😅 Laser.. beams? Oh.... you mean Ki, don't you?

Ruby: What's that?

Odyn: Long story short, Ruby.. It's energy every living being has inside of them. The art of Ki is simply harnessing that energy and learning to project it outside of your body as a weapon and defense. Ki helps you to exceed the normal limitations of the body, but it takes alot to learn and master. You sure you want me to teach you how to use it?

Ruby nodded emphatically to reiterate her point.

Odyn: Very well then. But I'll warn you, ki is far more destructive in nature than aura is. You'll need to be careful with it.

Ruby: I promise I'll be careful. Anyways, we should get to class. Maybe we can practice some after this whole situation with Jaune is dealt with?

Odyn: Yeah. I think we can make that work.

Ruby and Odyn smiled at each other before both of them headed off to class.

Unknown to them and eerie shadow like creature with beady red eyes was seen hiding behind the corner of a building spying on them. This creature, while small was all black with a pair of horns and two bat like wings, followed by a tail. The creature had an unsettling grin cross its face as it followed it's  two targets.

Classroom

 A uniformed, sleeping Jaune Arc with his head resting in his hands while a constantly-zooming and fast-talking Professor Bartholomew Oobleck is in the middle of his hyperactive lecture, educating Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, Pyrrha Nikos, Velvet Scarlatina, and a leaned-back Cardin Winchester directly behind Jaune.

Ruby and Odyn's teams sat next to each other, while Khanna's sat behind Cardin.

Oobleck: "Yes! Yes, prior to the Faunus Rights Revolution--more popularly known as the Faunus War--" (zooms up to the front of the class and the map covered in papers behind his desk) "--humankind was quite, quite adamant about centralizing Faunus population in Menagerie." (points at the map of said-area with his stick, then zooms off to the side for a sip of his coffee before appearing in front of the desk) "Now! While this must feel like ancient history to many of you, it is imperative to remember that these are relatively recent events! Why, the repercussions of the uprising can still be seen to this day!" (zooms around the classroom more, sipping his coffee again before continuing to zoom and talk) "Now! Have any among you been subjugated or discriminated because of your Faunus heritage?"

All of the silhouette students, along with Flare, Beat, Note,  and Daikon raised their hands. Velvet, after a moment of hesitation, does the same. But then what surprised the students was the fact that all of the Elven students raised their hands as well.

Ruby knew why, but her teammates and even Cardin were rather confused at this. Yang, Blake, and Weiss all looked towards Ruby with questioning looks.

Ruby: I'll explain later.

Weiss: You'd better have a really good explanation for that.

They then refocused on the class.

Oobleck: "Dreadful, simply dreadful! Remember, students, it is precisely this kind of ignorance that breeds violence!" (takes another sip of his coffee) "I mean, I mean, I mean just look at what happened to White Fang! Now, which one of you young scholars can tell me what many theorize to be the turning point in the third year of the War?" (a hand is raised) "Yes?"

This hand was revealed to be Weiss' as the Shcnee heiress stood up from her seat to answer the question.

Weiss: "The battle at Fort Castle!"

Oobleck: "Precisely! And, who can tell me the advantage the Faunus had over General Lagune's forces?"

Unseen by the professor, Cardin flicks a paper football at Jaune's head, causing him to wake up.

Jaune: "Hey!"

Oobleck: (zooming over into Jaune's face) "Mr. Arc! Finally contributing to class! This is excellent! Excellent! What is the answer?"

Jaune: "Uhhhh... The answer... The advantage... that the Faunus..." (looks behind Oobleck's focused face at Pyrrha, who coughs and motions to her lips as she gives him the answer) "...had over that guy's stuff..." (he sees Pyrrha cup her hands around her eyes and goes for the most obvious answer) "Uhh... Binoculars!"

While Jaune looks pleased with his answer, the class laughs at him and Oobleck (back at the front of the class) sips his coffee. Pyrrha sighs and slaps a hand to her forehead as Cardin pounds his fist on his desk while chortling. This only lasts a moment before Khanna glares at him causing the bully to stiffen up and look away.

Khanna: 😏 Uh huh that's what I thought ya big bully.

Oobleck: (zooming back behind his desk) "Very funny, Mr. Arc! Cardin! Perhaps you would care to share your thoughts on the subject!"

Cardin: "Well, I know it's a lot easier to train an animal than a soldier."

Pyrrha: (as Oobleck shakes his head) "You're not the most open-minded of individuals, are you, Cardin?"

Cardin: "What? You got a problem?"

Pyrrha: "No, I have the answer! It's night vision. Many Faunus are known to have nearly-perfect sight in the dark." (Cardin growls at the correct response)

Blake: "General Lagune was inexperienced, and made the mistake of trying to ambush the Faunus in their sleep. His massive army was outmatched, and the general was captured." (turns to Cardin) "Perhaps if he'd paid attention in class, he wouldn't have been remembered as such a failure."

Cardin: Why you!

Oobleck: (as Cardin gets up from his seat, fist clenched) "Mr. Winchester! Please take your seat."

Daikon:💢 I believe he said sit down you fool!

Cardin glared at him for saying that, the whole time the Elves were saying not to antagonize the saiyan.

Odyn: Don't do it Cardin...

Roy: He better not call him that name..

Cardin: What? Is the widdle monkey in the red suit gonna shut me up?

Odyn: 😨 No he didn't!

Khanna: I'm afraid he just did...

Roy: 🤦‍♂️ What an idiot!

Baron: Well, nice knowing you Cardin..

Daikon:💢💢💢💢💢💢💢 I believe the professor said to SIT DOWN YOU FOOL!

Daikon then grabs Cardin by the head and slams him down face first into his desk, effectively shutting him up as the Bully's eyes were white with his mouth hanging open. Daikon cracks his knuckles and the dusting his hands clean as if he touch something dirty.

Oobleck: Well thank for that, mister Koizumi.

Daikon: It was no problem professor, someone had to shut up that overgrown buffoon.

Oobleck continued as he zoomed up to Jaune who was seen laughing at his tormentor.

Oobleck:"You and Mr. Arc can both see me after class for additional readings." (takes yet another sip of his coffee)

Jaune felt his shoulders slump at this.

Jaune: "Oohhhh..."

Oobleck: (zooming away) "Now! Moving on!"

The lesson had just ended as all of the other students started to leave the classroom. Among students included were: Nora Valkyrie,  Lie Ren, Weiss Shcnee, Daikon Koizumi, Flare Kitsune, Hailfire Caldern, Baron Caldern, along with the rest of the gang.

Pyrrha was the only one who had stopped in the doorway as the rest of the students other than her teammates continued to walk out of the classroom.

Pyrrha: "You go on ahead. I'll wait for Jaune." (they look back inside as the after-class talk occurs to the two boys)

The two teammates of Pyrrha nodded and proceeded to walk out of the classroom. Now Pyrrha was alone waiting for Jaune... or so she thought. She heard footsteps and looked up to see that it was Khanna that stood next to her.

Pyrrha: Khanna?

The black haired Elven maiden smiled at her before responding.

Khanna: Mind if I wait here with you?

Pyrrha: But what about your team?

Khanna: They understand. I'll catch up to them later.

The two sat in silence before Pyrrha spoke to break the awkward silence.

Pyrrha: I've been wondering something Khanna.. perhaps you could enlighten me about it?

Khanna: Sure. As long as I'm able to answer your question.

Pyrrha: Well it's just... Your appearance, and Odyn, Baron, and even Roy's as well.. I can tell you all are human like but also... not human at the same time. But.. you're not faunus either.. at least, not any that I'm aware of.

Khanna: So... you noticed huh?

Pyrrha: Who or rather... what exactly are you guys?

Khanna: I should've known we couldn't hide it forever. You're a smart girl Pyrrha so I'm not surprised you figured out that myself and my companions aren't exactly... "normal" people. But.. that's a difficult question to answer.

Pyrrha: How so?

Khanna: You wouldn't believe the answer to that question. No offense.

Pyrrha: Try me.

Khanna: (sighs) Very well then. Myself, Baron, Hailfire, and my cousins Odyn and Roy... we're from a race of people that both humans and Faunus have chosen to forget about.

Pyrrha: 🙁 Why would they do that?

Khanna: Well Pyrrha, it is because us Dark Elves and you humans are fundamentally different in one way.

Pyrrha: wait.. did you say dark elves? And what way are we different?

Khanna: Yes I did.  (She then pulls back her hair to reveal long and beautiful pointed ears to which earns a shocked expression from the redhead)

Pyrrha: oh my... what beautiful ears.

This makes Khanna smile, but only briefly, as Pyrrha inspects the closer. Upon a closer look, she reels back in horror to see scars that littered Khanna's beautiful ears.

Pyrrha: Y-Your ears! What happened?

Khanna: Those scars are from years of bullying and discrimination by humans... and some faunus. To them, especially humans, we're freaks of nature. See, Elven kind can live for far longer than humans can. And because we don't show any signs of physically aging after 15 or 20 in some cases, we're unnatural to them. Not only that, but our strength in battle far surpasses that of a human and is even greater than the strength of a faunus soldier.

Pyrrha: And... because of that, they ridicule, alienate, and physically harm you?

Khanna: unfortunately, yes they do.

Pyrrha: that's... not right. It's inhuman!

Khanna: 🙂 If only there were more humans who thought and felt the way you do about us, we wouldn't have to hide ourselves in plain sight.

Pyrrha: Khanna, I-

Khanna: No, it's alright Pyrrha.  One day we will be able to reveal ourselves without being afraid of the others around us mistreating us. I don't know why I'm telling you this. Perhaps it's due to your soul being similar to a certain cousin of mine.

Pyrrha: To odyn?

Khanna: (shaking her head) No, not him. You're similar to a cousin that I lost many years ago. Her name was Sarai and she was Odyn's only sister.

Pyrrha: His.... sister?

Khanna: oh dear, it appears I've said too much.

Pyrrha: Khanna, please tell me about her.

Khanna: Another time perhaps. It looks like they're about done.

Pyrrha: oh right! But... you will tell me later, won't you?

Khanna: Yes Pyrrha.  I'll tell you at a later time.

Pyrrha smiled at Khanna, she felt like she had gotten to know the girl fairly well in the few minutes she spent talking to her. The two waited patiently for Jaune.

With Jaune and Cardin...

Oobleck: (sips his coffee) "You two have been struggling in my class since day one! Now, I don't know if it's a lack of interest, or just your stubborn nature, but whatever it is..." (takes a longer sip of his coffee) "It stops now! You've worked hard to gain entrance to this school, and we only accept the best of the best, so I expect you to act like it. History is important, gentlemen! If you can't learn from it... you're destined to repeat it. Pages fifty-one to ninety-one! I want an essay on my desk by next class! Now! Run along."

With that, he zooms out of the classroom and past a waiting Pyrrha in a green and white blur. Jaune comes out first, and Cardin emerges behind him, pushing him to the ground an emitting an "Ow!" from him that makes the bully laugh before Khanna nonchalantly kicks him in the back making him tumble face first onto the floor.

He gets up and glares before realizing who it was that kicked him.

Cardin: Who did that?! (Spots Khanna looking at him with wide eyes) Was it you?!

Khanna: Goodness, Cardin! You should really watch where you're going, wouldn't want a broken nose would we?

Cardin: 💢 I know you kicked me, you freak!

Cardin lunged towards her only to get knocked down by a punch to the gut and a kick to the face. He ended up sprawled on the ground with a mark on his face from Khanna's boot, blood dripping down his nose slightly. Khanna crossed her arms and glared down at the bully, her eyes boring into him.

Khanna: I'm sorry there was annoying little orange dog that kept yapping its head off that needed to get dealt with and my foot must've slipped. Got that, you annoying little bug?!

Cardin felt himself sweating as he litterally couldn't say anything due to feeling like this girl was staring into his soul. He just gulped before scurrying away as fast as he could.

Khanna spat off to the side as if she just tasted something vulgar.

Pyrrha: 😯

Jaune: 😱 (turns to Pyrrha) Remind me, never to make Khanna angry at me.

Pyrrha simply nods dumbstruck at what she just saw.

Khanna: Insensitive Racist dumbbell.

Jaune/Pyrrha: 😲

Khanna: What? Someone had to say it.

Pyrrha:  (pulling Jaune back on his feet) "You know, I really will break his legs. That is if... Khanna doesn't beat me to it first.."  (Jaune sighs, and Pyrrha looks like she is struck by inspiration) "I have an idea! Here, come with me!" (she grabs a confused Jaune by the arm and drags him along as she turns down the corridor, Khanna following behind them.)

Balcony above the dorms

A dejected Jaune and Pyrrha come onto a rooftop of one of the buildings, with a clear view of the glowing green orbs in the central tower of Beacon.

Jaune: Pyrrha, I know I'm going through a hard time right now, but I'm not that depressed. (looks over the edge of the roof, to the confusion of Pyrrha) I can always be a farmer or something...

Pyrrha has a look of horror cross her face as she responds to Jaune's comment about himself.

Pyrrha: N-n-no! (dashes to push Jaune away from the edge) "That's not why I brought you up here!" (the camera pans out to show the two on the roof as they talk with Cardin leaning in his windowsill right below them) "Jaune, I know you're having a difficult time in class and that you're still not the strongest of fighters, so... I want to help you!

Jaune: Wh-what?

Pyrrha: "We can train up here after class where no one can bother us!"

Jaune: You think I need help?

Pyrrha: N-no! No, that's not what I meant.

Jaune: But you just said it.

Pyrrha: Jaune, everybody needs a little push from time to time. It doesn't make you any different from the rest of us. You made it to Beacon! That speaks volumes of what you're capable of!

Jaune turns away from her and lowers his voice as if he's ashamed of something.

Jaune: You're wrong. I-I don't belong here.

Pyrrha: That's a terrible thing to say! Of course you do!

Jaune: (He turns back around, now angered) No, I don't! (sighs as Pyrrha looks bewildered and he reveals the truth) I wasn't really accepted into Beacon... (turns his back to her so he doesn't have to face her)

Pyrrha: Wh-what do you mean?

Jaune: (voice going higher and higher as he confesses) I mean I didn't go to combat school, I didn't pass any tests. I didn't earn my spot at this Academy! (looks at her again) I lied! I got my hands on some fake transcripts, and I lied!

Pyrrha: What? But... why?

Jaune: Cause this is always what I've wanted to be! (turns away again) My father, my grandfather, and his father before him were all warriors! They were all heroes! I wanted to be one, too. I was just never good enough.

Pyrrha: (approaching him, placing a hand on his shoulder) Then let me help you!

Jaune: (suddenly turning on her with mad frustration) I don't want help! I don't want to be the damsel in distress! I want to be the hero!

Pyrrha: Jaune, I-

Jaune: I'm tired of being the lovable idiot, stuck in the tree while his friends fight for their lives! Don't you understand? If I can't do this on my own... then what good am I?

Pyrrha attempts to reach out for his arm and console him, but he leans back from her touch.

Jaune: Just... leave me alone. Okay?

Pyrrha: (head bowed, sad) If that's what you think is best...

She walks away, her footsteps getting softer and softer until she leaves the roof. Khanna looks on disappointed as she approaches Jaune.

Khanna: (sighs in disapproval) 😩 You really are an idiot, Jaune. But since Pyrrha respects your decision,  so will I. We'll still be around if you change your mind.

Khanna then walks away as Jaune begins to think on her words.

Jaune paces a little until he hears a mocking laugh and Cardin appears on the roof from his window.

Before he speak, Cardin looks around frantically to make sure Khanna wasn't anywhere near them.

Cardin: The she-devil isn't here is she?

Jaune: umm.. she devil?

Cardin: Just answer the question!

Jaune: umm.. no. You just missed her.

Cardin inwardly breathed a sigh of relief, now he wouldn't have to with the flame eyed devil of a girl. He regained his smirk and mocking attitude towards Jaune.

Cardin: Oh, Jaune...

Jaune: C- Cardin!

Cardin: I couldn't help but overhear you two from my dorm room. So, you snuck into Beacon, huh? I gotta say, Jaune, I never expected you to be such a rebel!

Jaune: (taking on a begging tone) Please, Cardin, please, don't tell anyone!

Cardin: Jaune, come on! I'd never rat on a friend like that!

Jaune: (approaching) A... a friend?

Cardin: Of course! (traps Jaune in a headlock under his arm despite his struggling) We're friends now, Jauney boy! And the way I see it, as long as you're there for me when I need you, we'll be friends for a long time. (finally releases Jaune, who gasps as he leans on the ground) That being said, I really don't have time to do those extra readings Dr. Oobleck gave us today. Think you could take care of that for me, buddy? (leans down to rub Jaune's hair and gets up with a grin) That's what I thought. (heads back to hang onto the edge) Don't worry, Jaune; your secret's safe with me.

Cardin drops back down to his room as Jaune rubs his neck in pain and worry before the scene fades to black.

Beacon Academy dormitory

Pyrrha Nikos looks out the window sadly as Lie Ren loads StormFlower and Nora Valkyrie is jumping on her bed in the room for Team JNPR. She sighs in sadness.

Nora: How come Jaune gets home so late?

Ren: He's become rather scarce since he started fraternizing with Cardin.

Nora: That's weird... Doesn't he know we have a field trip tomorrow? We need our rest! (she proclaims this while twirling in midair so her back hits the covers)

Pyrrha: (angered) I'm sure our leader knows exactly what he's doing.

Nora and Ren exchange glances, not knowing that Jaune himself is looking in through the crack of the door.

Nora: Mmmm... I guess so.

Jaune hangs his head and closes the door, just as a voice interrupts his thoughts.

Ruby: Hey, Jaune! (startled, Jaune turns around to see her in her pajamas, and she giggles at his reaction) Long time, no see! Did you lock yourself out again?

Jaune: Oh, uh, nope! (raises his Scroll, attempting to laugh) Got it!

During this, another voice interrupts his thoughts.

Odyn: Jaune? Surprised to see you here.

Ruby: oh, Hey Odyn! 

He greeted the silver eyed girl.  Jaune smiled at this, he always thought Ruby and Odyn got along well together and he liked seeing them together. They just looked so... natural together to him.  Ruby then spoke up, pulling him from his thoughts.

Ruby: So! Where have you been lately?

Jaune: I, uh...

He tries to come up with something, but just sighs and lowers his head.

Odyn: I'm going to out on a limb here and guess... Here's what you're thinking and tell me if I'm wrong: I messed up. I did something I shouldn't have, and now Cardin has me on a leash, and Pyrrha won't even talk to me, and.. now you're starting to think that coming here was a mistake. And that you're a failure. Or... am I wrong about that?

Jaune: How did you-?

Odyn: How'd I know all that? Well, it was kinda more or less written all over the look on your face.

Jaune: Well, you're right about one thing especially... I'm a failure.

Ruby: Nope!

Jaune: (looking at her in surprise) Nope?

Ruby: Nope! You're a leader now, Jaune. You're not allowed to be a failure.

Jaune: But... what if I'm a failure at being a leader?

Ruby: (thinks about it for a moment, then gives her answer) Nope!

Jaune: (laughs as she joins him on the floor) You know, you're not the easiest person to talk to about this kind of stuff.

Ruby: Nope! (as Jaune leans into the door some more) Jaune, maybe you were a failure when you were a kid... (Jaune groans and sinks lower to the ground) ... and you might've even been a failure the first day we met! (he groans and goes lower still) But, you can't be one now. You know why?

Jaune: Uhhh, because...?

Ruby: Because it's not just about you anymore. You've got a team now, Jaune. We both do! And if we fail, then we'll just be bringing them down with us. (she gets up and places her hands on her hips as she speaks) We have to put our teammates first, and ourselves second. Your team deserves a great leader, Jaune. And I think that can be you. (she walks over to her door and opens it as Jaune, now slightly inspired by her words,watches her wave) Have a good night, Jaune! (she goes inside)

Odyn smiles and then turns to Jaune before he walks into his dorm room too.

Odyn: She is right you know. You can't afford to be a failure anymore Jaune, not when you have a team counting on you to be their leader. How you choose to move forward though, well... that's up to you. Have a good night, Jaune. And I hope our advice helps you in some small way, you got this. (He opens the door to his room and goes inside)

With new energy, Jaune pushes himself off the ground and faces the door, ready to turn the knob and face his team, but his Scroll beeps and he pulls it off of his side to open it, seeing Cardin's contact relaying a message.

Cardin (on-Scroll): Hey! It's your buddy Cardin! I know you're probably busy with that Dust project I gave you, buuuut I'm gonna need you to go out and get me a bag of Rapier Wasps." (as Jaune makes a terrified sound in response) And make sure they've got some really big stingers! It's important, so don't screw this up!

Jaune closes his Scroll just when it begins to beep again. Sighing, he wearily heads down the hallway and away from his room.

The next day...

An overhead shot of a forest bustling with red leaves and gray trunks is seen as the camera descends and shows Glynda leading teams RWBY, JNPR, OHRF, KDBNB, and CRDL through the area.

Glynda: (to the group) Yes, students, the forest of Forever Fall is indeed beautiful. But we are not here to sight-see. Professor Peach has asked all of you to collect samples from the trees deep inside this forest, and I'm here to make sure none of you die while doing so.

The group stops, and Jaune, grunting and carrying a large case with six empty glass jars on top, tries to catch up with them and ends up bumping into Cardin. The bully scowls at Jaune, who attempts to feign innocence by whistling tunelessly.

Glynda: (still instructing her group, holding up a full jar of their objective) Each of you is to gather one jar's worth of red sap. However, this forest is full of the creatures of Grimm, so be sure to stay by your teammates. We will rendezvous back here at 4 o'clock. Have fun!

Yang and Ruby smile at each other, which Ruby turns to Odyn and does the same. Jaune attempts to (noisily) sneak away from Cardin to his team, but the blackmailer sees this and grabs Jaune by the back.

Cardin: Come on, buddy - let's go!

Jaune miserably looks up at his team, where Nora and Ren are already walking into the forest's depths and Pyrrha is staring sadly at the scene. The redhead then felt ahand on her, it was revealed to be Khanna's.

Khanna: I know you want to help him Pyrrha, but let's just wait this one out.

Odyn: Jaune can get out of this on his own, you'll see. Have some more faith in him Pyrrha. (He then walks off to join his team and Ruby's)

Pyrrha: (sighs) Alright... I'll trust your word. But.. if I feel like he really does need help I'm jumping in.

Khanna: Of course. You're his teammate and that's what teammates do.

Pyrrha turns around ans walks off to join the rest of her team. Dropping his gaze, Jaune turns and follows CRDL, to the disappointment of a sighing Pyrrha before she continues on.

With Jaune & Team CRDL

Team CRDL is making themselves as comfortable as possible by leaning on stones, trees, and the ground while Jaune returns to the group with six full jars, setting them down just as he collapses face-down. The surrounding team gets up in response.

Cardin: Hey, great work, Jauney boy! Now that wasn't too hard, was it?

Jaune: (still on the ground, cross-eyed and sounding dizzy) I think I'm allergic to this stuff...

Cardin: Greeeeat, great, great. So, Jaune, I bet you're asking yourself, 'Why did my buddy Cardin ask me to collect eight jars of tree sap when there's only five of us?

Jaune: (nodding, still exhausted) That is one of the many questions I have asked myself today, yes.

Cardin: (as Jaune sits up) Well, come with me, and you'll find out.

Jaune moans and gulps in worry.

Now perched on a hilltop overlooking the other students, team CRDL - plus Jaune, squeezed between Cardin and Russel Thrush - peak their heads over the crest and watch as everyone is retrieving their samples of sap. Ren, kneeling to collect it from a tree, passes a full jar to Nora, who "Mmmm!"s at the gift as Ren trades it for the other jar in her care. He turns back to the tree and starts filling it up while several licking sounds are heard off-screen until the camera pans back to Nora, now with an embarrassed smile covered in red and an empty jar in her hands.

Jaune: (turning to his left) Cardin, wh-what's going on?

Cardin: (still staring at the unsuspecting group sharply) Payback.

Jaune: (widens his eyes in understanding) Pyrrha...? And Khanna.. ? (watches her gather more sap from a tree) Wh-what are you-?

Cardin: (pounds his fist on the ground) That's the girl. Red-haired know-it-all, thinks she's so smart. And then there's the black haired she devil, thinks she can toss and boss me around.. We'll show them! Alright, boys... (pulls out a buzzing cardboard box with a large "W" written on its sides) Last night, old Jaune here managed to round up an entire box of Rapier Wasps, and now, we're gonna put him to work.

Russel grabs Jaune by the shoulder, who barely laughs in nervousness.

Odyn and Khanna looked over to where Jaune was before returning their attention to their teams and the assignment for their class.

Odyn: (in mind) Come on Jaune, you can do it!

Khanna : (in mind) Stand up for you and your team, don't let him push you around. I know you have it in you, Arc!

Cardin: Now, according to one of the essays you wrote for me last week, these nasty things loooove sweets. (Pyrrha and Khanna  are seen finishing their sap collection) I'm thinking it's time we teach them a thing or two.

The members of CRDL get up. Cardin offers his hand to Jaune, only to painfully yank him up on his feet and shove the jars into his grasp.

Cardin: And you're gonna do it.

Jaune: Do what?

Cardin: Hit them with the sap! (leans in close to Jaune's face) "Either that, or I'll have a chat with Goodwitch, and you'll be on the first airship out of Beacon.

Jaune looks down at the jar of sap in his hands and then up at the four grinning teammates waiting to see what happens. Jaune turns towards the group and aims his throw at an oblivious and smiling Pyrrha, trying to steel his nerves and shaking hand to do the deed, but ultimately steels himself for what he's about to do.

Jaune: No.

Over in the distance, both Khanna and Odyn smirked. They knew what happened.

Khanna: 😏 Heh, I knew he had it in him!

Odyn: 😌 We knew you'd pull through, Jaune.

Cuts back to Jaune & Team CRDL

Cardin: What did you say?

Jaune: (gripping the jar tightly) I said... NO!

He turns and throws the jar at Cardin, instantly recoiling his hands to himself as he looks at Cardin's breastplate covered in sap. The other team leader, however, just looks at himself and laughs darkly.

Cardin: Oh, you've done it now...

Jaune humorously laughs to himself once more with his hands still raised in an attempt for defense as Dove Bronzewing and Sky Lark grab Jaune's shoulders and pull him in so his terrified eyes can fill the screen before it goes dark.

Jaune is now pushed to the ground, groaning as he looks up and sees a sap-covered Cardin looming over him. The bigger warrior picks Jaune up by his front and grins while punching him back to the ground.

Cardin: You know that wasn't very smart, Jauney boy. (picks up a bruised Jaune again while the rest of Team CRDL watches) I'm gonna make sure they send you back to mommy in teeny tiny pieces.

Jaune: (head hanging back) I don't care what you do to me... (looks at Cardin with fury) ... but you are not messing with my team, or those who believe in me!

Cardin: (looking momentarily shocked) What? You think talk like that makes you tough? You think you're a big strong man now?

Jaune smiles in defiance. An enraged Cardin roars and raises his fist again, but just as the hit is about to connect, a shockwave comes out of nowhere and strikes the bully in the face and temporarily knocks him to the ground. Cardin gets up angered at that and glares, looking for who hit him.

Cardin: 💢 Alright.. who did that?! Who hit me?!

The others shrugged at this not knowing where the shockwave came from.

Odyn: 😑 what happened to not getting involved in this Khanna?

Khanna: 🤷‍♂️ He was annoying, so I thought I'd shut him up temporarily.  I don't see what the problem is here.

Beat: 😅 Should we say anything?

Note: 😅 Unless you want to get beat up by her for saying something stupid,  I'd say no.

Baron: 😅 Have to agree with Note on this one, Beat. I don't think you want to see Khanna mad...

Daikon: 😅 I'd also... not advise that. It's better to be on the safe side.

Beat: 😅 Yeah, guess you guys are right. Our team leader can be pretty intimidating. Never mind then.

Odyn: 🤦‍♂️ Why do I even bother?

Hailfire: Are you okay, Odyn?

Odyn: 🤦‍♂️ Yeah... just dandy. Don't worry about it.

Hailfire and Roy just look at each other and shrug.

Cuts back to Jaune

Cardin raises his fist again, this time, the hit connects. But when it does, a bright light shines from Jaune, and when the white fades from the screen, Cardin is crying out in pain as he holds his hand. Jaune, now back on the ground but completely healed, looks confused at his hands as they faintly glow white. While he stares, though, Sky Lark kicks Jaune in the back and gets him on his stomach, but he looks up and glares at the approaching Cardin.

Cardin: Let's see how much of a man you really are...

Just as he says this, a low growl is heard, and a surprised Team CRDL turns around and sees a large paw crash onto the scene, belonging to a huge Ursa Major with dozens of jagged spikes sticking out from its wide back. It leaps forward and stands over the terrified students, lifting its head in the air to smell the sap on Cardin's breastplate. It lands back on its forelegs and roars at Cardin while his teammates "heroically" flee.

Russel: That's a big Ursa!

Cardin is rooted to the spot when the Grimm swings its claws and knocks him sideways, revealing Jaune cowering behind him. The Ursa continues to sniff, uninterested in Jaune and following its nose to Cardin. He watches at it towers over Cardin, who gets his wits and pulls out The Executioner only for the monster to swipe it away to Jaune's feet. He looks conflicted, wondering whether to fight or run away.

Back with the others

Meanwhile, the roar of the giant Ursa is heard by the members of Teams RWBY, OHRF,  KDBNB,  and JNPR still collecting sap on the other side of the forest.

Ruby: (getting up, concerned) Did you guys hear that?

Odyn: Sure did, Ruby. Khanna!

Khanna: On it! My team and and I will evacuate the students, and see what help we can get from the teachers... not that you'll need it.

Odyn nodded and then signaled to his team that they were going with team Rwby to check out that Ursa problem. 

Suddenly, the remaining members of Team CRDL are seen running the other way from the roar through the other students.

Russel: (looking back) Ursa! Ursa! (he runs into Yang accidentally)

Yang: What?! (completely unfazed by his collision, she picks him up by the front of his shirt) Where?

Russel: (struggling and still running in air, but points back from where they came) Back there! It's got Cardin!

Pyrrha: (dropping her jar of sap) Jaune!

Hailfire: Pyrrha, calm down. I'm sure Jaune's fine, we'll get there to help him.

Pyrrha: I- (sighs and relaxes herself, realizing Hailfire was right) You're right Hailfire,  Jaune will be okay. I need to have more faith in him.

Hailfire smiles at this.

Hailfire: 🙂 That's the spirit, Pyrrha.  We'll get there in time too, don't worry.

Ruby: (going into leader mode) Yang! You and Blake, go get Professor Goodwitch! (dropping Russel, Yang and Blake nod before following the orders)

Pyrrha: (to Lie Ren and Nora Valkyrie as she and Ruby activate their weapons) You two, go with them! There could be more!

Ruby, Odyn, Hailfire, Roy, Flare, Weiss,  and Pyrrha all hurry off towards where Jaune was at. They just hoped they could get to him in time.

Cardin is attempting to run from the following Ursa, but it leaps over its prey and claws him away. He tries to get up and crawl away.

Cardin: Crap! Crap, crap!

Odyn and his team, along with Ruby, Weiss, and Pyrrha appear on the scene shortly after.

Pyrrha : Oh, no!

They watch as the Ursa leans over the helpless victim, raising its paw and swiping it down... only to be blocked by Jaune's shield, Crocea Mors. (Seriously these weapon names lol 🤣) He struggles to defend a stunned Cardin from its attempts to lean on him, but Weiss lifts Myrtenaster as she prepares to go help.

Pyrrha: (to Weiss) Wait!

Jaune takes the shield out from the Ursa's paw and slashes at its stomach, causing it to lash out and try to crush him. He rolls out of the way and jumps over its swipe at his feet, but he is unprepared for when it launches a claw at him in midair. He lands far away, yet is immediately back on his feet and passing Cardin as he charges again. The Ursa knocks Jaune behind it when he tries for a leaping attack, and he looks at the Scroll in his shield to find out that his Aura level is in the red. He grows angry again and starts to run at the Ursa as it also begins to dash towards him.

As they are just about to clash in slow-motion, Pyrrha sees that Jaune has left himself completely open to the Ursa's attack, and lifts her hand out to him, gathering dark red energy in her arm. Just as the Ursa is about to hit him, the glow surrounds Jaune's shield and makes it lift up to block the swipe. Jaune uses the surprise defensive move to lean on the ground, push his shield back up, and swing his blade right through the Ursa's neck. The head falls to the ground as the body slams onto the ground.

Hailfire: 😏 What happened to not helping Pyrrha? Eh?

Pyrrha: He just needed a little opening is all.. a-and I didn't directly help him.

Hailfire: 😏 Riiiigggghhhttt... Pyrrha,  you're not fooling anyone with that excuse. But alright.

Ruby: (as Pyrrha's hand stops glowing and she smiles) Uhhh... What?

Weiss: (equally amazed) How did you...?

Pyrrha: Well, Ruby has her speed, you have your glyphs. My Semblance is polarity.

Ruby: Whoa, you can control poles...

Weiss: No, you dunce! It means she has control over magnetism!

Ruby: (still impressed, whispering) Magnets are cool, too...

Odyn: (whispers to ruby) Actually Polarity just means she can control metal objects and pull them towards each other however she wants.

Ruby puts has one hand in a fist and the other flat in a palm, she strikes it like a lightbulb went on in her head.

Ruby: Ohhhh..... Still that's cool you can control metal too!

Weiss: 🤦‍♂️ Did you need to explain it to her?

Odyn: 🤷‍♂️ Well someone had to.. otherwise you know it would bother you that she didn't know.

Weiss looked at Hailfire who just shrugged. Roy put a hand on the heriess' shoulder and sighed.

Roy: You get used to stuff like that when you're around Odyn enough.

Weiss was about to say something else when she noticed Pyrrha walking away from the scene.

Weiss: Wait, where are you going?

Ruby: Yeah! We gotta tell them what happened!

Pyrrha: We could... Or perhaps we could keep it our little secret?

Ruby and Weiss smile to each other in understanding and a bruised Jaune sheathes his weapon before going over to Cardin.

Cardin, still covered in sap, looks up at Jaune as his savior offers a hand. Cardin smiles as he takes it and is lifted back up on his feet.

Cardin: Holy crap, Jaune!

Jaune: (threateningly) Don't ever mess with my team - my friends - ever again. (as Jaune stares Cardin dead in the eye) Got it?

Cardin looks intimidated, possibly even apologetic. With his order spoken, Jaune turns and walks away from a frozen Cardin.

Odyn, Roy, Khanna, and Ruby stay behind and wait for him as they each spoke up giving him their congratulations.

Odyn: I knew you could do it Jaune, proud of you.

Khanna: So how'd it feel, standing up for yourself and your team? Also nice work out there champ.

Roy: I knew you had it in you! But nicely done out there, Jaune.

Ruby: We were all rooting for you Jaune. Just know all of us have your back if you ever need help again, that's what friends are for right? 😊

Jaune: Thanks you guys. And yeah, heh heh I'll be sure to rely on you guys more often in situations like that.

Khanna: Well? You're team's waiting on you champ, get going already. We'll see you later!

Jaune: Y-yeah! See ya guys!

The teens look at each other and smile before walking off to rejoin their teams as well.

Beacon: Night time

Rooftop above the dorms

Later that night, on top of the dorm building, a uniformed Jaune stands on the edge and looks into the distance at the green lights of Beacon.

Pyrrha (off-screen): No Cardin tonight?" (walks to his side) "I thought you two were best buds?

Jaune: (turning to her) Pyrrha... I'm sorry. I was a jerk! You were only trying to be nice, and... I had all this stupid macho stuff in my head-

Pyrrha: Jaune! It's okay! (as they smile at one another, she adds:) Your team really misses their leader, you know. (she begins to walk to the exit) You should come down! Ren made pancakes! No syrup, though - you can thank Nora for that!

Jaune: (smiles, but holds out his hand and calls out:) Wait! (Pyrrha turns around, and Jaune looks sheepish) "I know I don't deserve it after all that happened, but... would you still be willing to help me... to help me become a better fighter?

Pyrrha turns around so a worried Jaune won't see her satisfied smile. She goes up to Jaune and suddenly pushes her leader to the ground.

Jaune: (whining) Hey!

Pyrrha: (standing over him with her arms on her hips and an evaluating tone) Your stance is all wrong. You need to be wider and lower to the ground. (she offers him her hand, which he graciously accepts, and they continue to hold on to and grin at each other) Let's try that again.

The camera moves above the two and on the night sky over the school before the scene cuts to black.

Hey guys, hopefully you enjoyed that chapter as it covers a whopping 4 episodes! Next chapter will cover the end of Volume 1 of the Rwby story. Hopefully you guys liked that tidbit of an interaction between Khanna and Pyrrha, I see the two of them developing a very tightknit and close friendship.  It also explained some of the backstory about why Dark Elves don't like humans very much, that'll be a point of contention further down the road in this story.

Lol I feel like Odyn would have to explain some things to Ruby since she's... well not the brightest in volume 1 🤣 But Ruby and Odyn's relationship has a nice feel to it so far so I'll try and keep it steady and build towards them becoming a couple, no need to rush it right?
