Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Next Steps part II: A small village wedding?
Hey everybody, RoseSaiyan 2 here again! It's been awhile but we're back to this story! We'll be continuing with Baron and Flare for a little while before catching up with the rest of the gang. I'll also be continuing my AU story in which Weiss is the main love interest for Odyn. The other stories will updated soon as well. Like ususal, here are the poll options:
Who should Hailfire fall in love with?
1. Oscar
2. Yatsuhashi
3. Sun
4. Giblet
5. Neptune
That's it for the polls right now, more to come later. For now, here's the disclaimer: I don't own the characters of Dbz/Dragon ball super, Black Clover, or Rwby. I merely own the oc's who appear in this story.
opening:
opening theme: Hibana (Tales of Arise opening 1)
Visuals: Starts out showing Odyn walking forward with Ruby following behind him as it pans up to the sky upon showing the title card: Flame and Crimson. The screen briefly goes to a shot of Odyn's hands before cutting to field surrounded in flames. Ruby looks up to the sky as the silhouettes of her family members are seen walking in the background of her mind. The camera then pans to Odyn reaching a hand towards Ruby, who accepts it as the they walk forward. The camera then pans to others within the group of friends, ranging from Khanna and Mercury fighting off Grimm, to Syrrai and Jaune training as they clash swords. Roy and Yang are seen sparring before she falls to the ground frustrated with herself momentarily. It then pans to several lights, representing the group of friends. Odyn reaches out towards Ruby and the two of them grab hands before standing back to back with their weapons drawn. The dark elf then draws his blade as he rushes towards a giant Grimm. After slashing it, a few times and dodging it with Roy accompanying him. They're saved by a shot from Ruby's sniper scythe. The scene then pans to Baron and Flare fighting off a wyvern Grimm with Blake, Shallot, Yang, and Sun helping. As the beast closed in, Syrrai rushes in and knocks back the beast with an Arte from her shield. This opened up things for Daikon to blast the beast away. Odyn is then seen to be clashing swords with someone in dark armor briefly before both gain distance and charge in again for a final clash. The clash causes the screen to go white, fading into a field where everyone meets and walks off towards mistral together.
Chapter 27: Memories and Next Steps II; a small village wedding?
The next few days within Flare's home village were quite busy. After publicly announcing to the village during dinner about the marriage between the young fox faunus woman and the dark elf Baron, the new couple hardly had any time to think. Flare was being dragged off by the women in the village for wedding dress fittings seemingly everyday, and Baron was being led around by Falbior to try out different suits tailored for the groom of the upcoming wedding. It was a little overwhelming for the two of them, seeing as they weren't really used to this kind of attention. Despite this, they were happy to be getting married to each other. Though, in their minds it wouldn't be official until they celebrated it with the rest of their friends. The scene opens up at a tailor's shop in the small village with Falbior and Baron. The elder wolf faunus man stroking the goatee on his face as if he was deep in thought upon analyzing the suit Baron now wore. The dark elf looked to him as if expecting an answer from the other man.
"Well? How's it look?,"Baron asked curious.
"Hmm... It's not a bad color... I just am not quite sure that color fits you, Baron...,"Falbior said in thought.
Baron chuckled and nodded before going back into the changing room, reappearing a few moments later. The two soon to be Father and Son-in-law then continued to peruse the aisles of suits, ties, and pants for Baron's upcoming wedding to Flare. During this whole exchange, for the first time in a very long while Baron was actually feeling... nervous of what tomorrow would bring. Falbior looked to the young dark elf with a raised eyebrow in curiousity.
"Pardon me for bringing this up, Baron. But.. are you alright? You seem a little bit more... awkward than usual.,"Falbior asked.
Baron lightly chuckled as he looked back to Falbior.
"Thank you for your concern, mister Kitsune. I assure you that I'm quite alright. What I can say is that for the first time since I really started to get to know your daughter, I am... nervous about what the future holds.,"Baron answered.
Falbior smiled at the dark elf before putting his arm around the young man's shoulders.
"Nervous? Whatever for? You're about to become family, there's no need to be nervous.," Falbior said chuckling before he paused.
Almost as if considering Baron's dilemma, he spoke again to reassure him.
"You're nervous because of my daughter, aren't you?" He asked.
Baron breifly looked away before he nodded and cleared his throat.
"Y-Yeah... I am. Your daughter, Flare, has uh... g-grown to be a very beautiful young woman after all. (sighs) Sometimes, I'm still not even sure why she chose to fall in love with me of all people. Had she fallen in love with another male faunus, She could've had a much more... normal life.,"Baron said.
Falbior looked skyward and smiled before briefly sighing.
"Aye, that she has. It's hard to believe that my little girl could grow up to be as pretty as her mother is. But, you're the reason she looks so alive these days Baron. Flare fell in love with you because of who you are. You were the first person to make her feel welcomed. If you really want a reason why she fell in love with you... She told you as much herself: You defended her and stood up for her when no one else did.", Falbior explained.
Baron smiled and nodded at Falbior's words.
"That she did. And I am truly greatful to her for choosing me to spend the rest of her life with. I think I've been in love with her ever since the first day we met though. I always thought Flare was really pretty, I just didn't really know how to go about approaching her. She approached me first, though as a friend. I had always wondered why she seemed so... shy and timid. She told me that it was because she already really liked me, but was unsure of how to talk to me. So... I guess both of us were just shy at first.,"Baron said.
Falbior smiled as he then turned to his future son in law as he held a blue suit in front of him. Baron regarded the attire and went to try it on. A moment later, he came out with the suit on. Falbior looked and studied the look before giving the dark elf an approving nod. Baron was relieved, they had finally found a suit that would work. Now that was taken care of, Baron could relax a little. Though he still needed to find a ring for his bride to be, he wondered how Flare was faring.
Meanwhile with Flare.....
Osprey, Jade, Luna, and some of the other young faunus women were seen to be practically dragging Flare towards different shops. The scene picks up in one particular shop, where Flare is seen to be wearing a glowing silver wedding dress. It had pearls that matched her icy blue eyes, and a gold necklace with feathered earrings. This look was accentuated by the dandelion like hair decoration that she now wore.
Luna had stars in her eyes, while Jade simply looked on with an approving nod and smile. Flare was a blubbering mess as she couldn't form words at the moment. Osprey calmed her daughter and gave her that gentle motherly smile which caused the young faunus woman to calm down.
"Sissy looks so pretty in that!," Luna said starry eyed.
"I agree, mother. Big sis looks beautiful. I think Baron will be blown away by how pretty she looks.," Jade said.
Osprey looked towards her eldest daughter, Flare with a smile.
"And what does our bride to be think?" Osprey asked.
"W- well i... isn't this a little... too flashy?," Flare asked.
"Oh nonsense, honey! You look gorgeous!" One of the other village women said.
"Your man will be stunned when he sees you." Another said.
"He won't be able to keep his eyes off you. Not when his bride to be is this beautiful!" Another faunus woman said.
Flare looked at those gathered in the store and sighed before she smiled.
"They all pitched in for this... the village isn't rich or poor by any means. But... they all are taking the effort in order to ensure myself and Baron have the best Wedding that we possibly could... It would be wrong not to accept their gift.," Flare thought.
Osprey looked towards her daughter, noting the slightly pensive look upon her face.
"Flare? Is there something wrong, sweetie?,"Osprey asked concerned.
Flare looked back at her mother and smiled as small tears streaked down her face. But these weren't tears of sadness, no, these were tears of joy as the young woman was overwhelmed by the generosity of her village.
"Oh dear, we've made you emmotional, haven't we?," One villager asked.
Flare shook her head and smiled.
"No, no, not at all. I'm just... grateful that my wedding means so much to you all. The fact all of you are going out of your way to ensure my marriage to Baron is a happy occassion... I'm just.. overwhelmed. I'm sorry, I-I didn't mean to make you all worry like I did just now.," Flare said sniffling and wiping away the tears that had formed in her eyes.
Flare felt hugs from both of her sides as she still was wiping away her tears. When she looked down, she saw that both of her sisters were embracing her.
"Sissy are you okay?," Luna asked innocently.
Jade said nothing, but had a concerned look on her face as she looked up at Flare.
Flare silently chuckled as she smiled, patting the both of her sisters on the head.
"Yes, thank you. I'm alright. I was just really happy that you all are doing this for me. I only hope to return the favor in the future when the two of you become of age to marry a man you love with all of your heart.," Flare said.
Luna looked at her sister curiously, while Jade understood what her sister meant. While she didn't verbally say anything, Flare knew Jade understood what she meant.
She rubbed Luna's head affectionately as she smiled at her youngest sister.
"You will understand when you're older, Luna.," Osprey told the youngest fox faunus girl.
She looked towards Flare.
"Will this work for you, Flare?," She asked.
Flare nodded.
"It will. Thank you, mother, everyone.,"Flare said nodding towards the other village women.
The store attendant then came to them, admiring Flare in the dress.
"I do hope this suits your needs, miss. I have to say, you'll make a lovely bride for whichever man is lucky enough to have you.," The store attendant said.
Flare nodded and smiled brightly.
"Yes, this dress is perfect. I'll take it.," Flare replied. "How much for it?"
The attendant thought for a moment before smiling.
"Well miss... Since you make such a lovely bride, I'm willing to give you a discount for it.," She said.
Small time skip later...
After conversing with the store clerk and purchasing the wedding dress, Flare and the other women left the store. The elder women of the village had to part ways with the Kitsun'e family, due to them having to prepare for the ceremony. As far as the village was concerned Flare and Baron's Wedding would be an all day affair and everyone was readily looking forward to it. Flare wanted to spend the rest of the day with her sisters since the next day was the Big Day for her. Osprey was more than gracious enough to allow this, after all, they may not see Flare for a long while after their wedding ceremony. Osprey walked away with some of the other village women as they were busy planning and preparing for the next day's festivities.
A/N: We're going to check in on some of the others whom we haven't heard from in a bit now...
Elsewhere....
In a certain field, we see a familar pair sparring. This pair is of course, Jaune, the former leader of JNPR, and Syrrha [Sarai and Pyrrha] sparring with each other. Jaune was seen to be in some different attire than he normally had on. Of course, it has been nearly 4 months since they started training together after all. The blonde knight had started to grow some hair on the lower half of his face now. If one didn't know any better, they'd say he's grown a beard. Crocea Mors, Jaune's sword and shield had undergone a makeover as well. The blade was now more silver in color and was quite a bit heavier than it was previously. Jaune had grown taller in his time with Syrrha. He had bulked up considerably as a result of her training him. His armor had a darker hue to it now. He wore black and gold armor now with the red sash from Pyrrha, his sheath was the same color as it was originally. Syrrha stood her ground with her shield out in front of her.
Jaune readied the new and improved Crocea Mors in his hands as he charged towards her. He felt power flow into his blade as the name of his attack then came to him.
"SHINING BLADE!," Jaune cried out as a torrent of energy flew forth from his sword and towards Syrrha.
She blocked it, with some effort as she shouted towards the blonde.
"Try again!," she said.
The two charged towards each other, engaging in several exchanges of blows. Swords clashed, fists glanced off each other, before both leapt back. Jaune performed a series of quick movements with his hands and arms before his hands formed a diamond shape.
"BURNING ATTACK!," Jaune shouted as a fiery orb of destructive ki flew towards the dark elf exploding.
Syrrha leapt back as magic and ki enveloped her fist before she thrust her open palm forward.
"BEAST ASSAULT!" she shouted as ki beams in the shape of a beast's head came flying towards Jaune.
Jaune clenched his fist as purple light enveloped it. Once he had enough power stored he tossed the gathered energy towards Syrrha's attack.
"VACATION DELETE!," he shouted.
The result shook the ground as a dome of light erupted from the two attacks colliding with each other.
Syrrha smiled as she looked towards Jaune.
"Good, Jaune! That's enough for today.," She said.
The blonde had come really far in just a few short months. Though, he wasn't quite up to some of the dark elves level, he had grown strong enough to make her take him seriously in a fight for a short while.
She made her way over towards him, offering a hand to help him to his feet.
"Need a hand?," She asked.
Jaune chuckled.
"Yeah, that sounds nice. Guess I still have a ways to go before I can be your equal in a fight, huh?," He said.
Syrrha lightly laughed.
"Don't worry about it too much, Jaune. You'll get there, trust me.," She encouraged him.
They both took a look at the empty mountain base of the elves. They'd long since moved on from this place with the war against Atlas beginning 4 months ago.
"Guess it's time then, huh?" Jaune asked.
Syrrha nodded.
"Indeed. Time we meet up with the others. Heh. The others will be so surprised when they see you now.," Syrrha said.
"Yeah they will. I can't than you enough, Sar.. I'm sorry, you go by Syrrha now.," He said.
She waved it off and cupped his face in her hand as her eyes softened.
"It's alright, Jaune... Please, call me Sar when it's just us, okay? I've grown rather fond of that nickname you mistakenly called me.," She said looking at him.
Jaune couldn't help but to blush slightly.
"Uh.. R-Right!," He said caught off guard.
She looked at him again.
"You know Jaune..., I'm still waiting on that answer from you. But like I said, I'll wait for as long as you need me too.," Syrrha said.
"Y-Yeah... I just... need some more time. I'm sorry, I know it's not fair to keep you waiting.," Jaune answered.
She shook her head and offered a small smile towards him.
"Don't worry about that , Jaune. I will wait for you for as long as you need me to. I'm not going anywhere.," Syrrha said.
Jaune briefly looked away before he sighed and answered Syrrha.
"T-Thanks for that, Syrrha.," Jaune replied.
Both of them then sheathed their weapons.
"Shall we then?," Syrrha asked.
The blonde nodded as they gathered their belongings. Jaune took one last look at the place they had used as a base for the last several months. He was going to miss this place, but... it was time to move on and meet up with his friends again. Their mission continued towards Mistral. That was where the others would be headed, most likely. Jaune then followed Syrrha as they began their journey towards Patch, where Ruby and Odyn were.
Elsewhere with Khanna and Mercury...
After Khanna and Mercury had figured out the extent of their relationship, resulting in the pair becoming a couple, they opted to stay in the small village they were in for a little bit longer. They helped out when they could, all while Khanna had a feeling they were going to be getting some rather unexpected company soon. Mercury noticed Khanna looking a little distant, like.. she was looking off into the horizon.
"Khanna?," He asked.
She turned towards him.
"Hmm?," She asked.
"Is... something wrong? You keep looking out into the distance.," Mercury asked her.
She shook her head and smiled at him.
"No, nothing's wrong Merc. It's just.. I think were going to be getting some rather unexpected company soon.," She answered him.
He raised an eyebrow in confusion, unsure as to what his lover was insinuating.
"Unexpected company? What do you mean by that?," He asked, still confused.
Khanna laughed lightly and smiled at him.
"You'll find out soon enough, Merc.," Khanna said lightly chuckling.
She wrapped her hands around his arms as she looked at him.
"Come on. Weren't we going out for the day?," She asked.
Mercury chuckled and smiled at her before nodding.
"Alright, you win. I'm coming.," He said as he allowed himself to be lightly dragged by Khanna.
Mercury and Khanna walked off together, unaware that a certai duo was keeping an eye on them. This certain duo was of course:
"Seems I found them. Certainly wasn't expecting them to become a couple though.," Hailfire told herself.
She snuck away and began to make her way back towards the one she was traveling with. It'd been several months, so naturally, Hailfire was physically older than she was previously. She had just turned 17 years old. While not quite an adult young woman yet, physically, she was nearly one. Seeing Khanna and Mercury become a couple was a little... surprising to say the least, but she was happy for them. They deserved it after all that they'd been through together.
Hailfire made her way back to where her ward was staying on the outskirts of the small village. Lylah was seen to be sitting in a chair and kneeling with her hands clasped as if she was praying . She was speaking in her native elvish tongue under her breath, most likely she was reciting a prayer for her people and her loved ones. She stood to her feet upon hearing the door to the small house they stayed in open. She stood with her back towards the younger elven maiden who came and knelt towards her.
"I see you've returned, Hailfire. Have you learned of my daughter's whereabouts?," Lylah asked.
Hailfire nodded and then spoke.
"Yes, milady. She is currently staying with Mercury Black at the moment. And the two of them have grown quite close in fact.," Hailfire reported.
Lylah smiled as she appeared to be in thought after Hailfire's report. She was happy for her daughter, but there'd be plenty of time to congradulate Khanna later on. Right now, they had a mission: Reunite with the others and head towards Mistral. That's where the criminal, Cinder Fall's tracks traced back to after all.
"Have they now? I'll have to congradulate them then when we see them. When will they be returning to the village?," Lylah answered.
Hailfire thought for a moment before responding.
"I believe just before sunset, milady. Shall I arrange a meeting place for then?," Hailfire answered.
Lylah shook her head.
" No need for that, we'll just meet them back at their small home when they return.," Lylah answered.
Hailfire nodded in agreement as they then awaited Khanna and Mercury's return to the village. Lylah began to allow her mind to wander. She'd just seen her daughter not too long ago, but it had still been awhile. She began to imagine her family reunited together again for the first time in ages: Herself, Khanna, and... her husband whom she'd not seen in many long years. She'd been separated from him in order to protect him and their daughter due to the danger dark elves attract as a warrior race. Lylah would be lying if she hadn't thought about her husband the entire time they'd been separated. Now though, now was her chance to finally see him again. And boy would her daughter be surprised to see who her father was... or rather remember who her dad is. She'd heard what her husband had been up to in the years since, and she was more than a little annoyed by his behavior. She'd fix that real quick once they reunited. No husband of hers would continue to be a "skirt chaser".
Later....
Khanna and Mercury were returning back to their home after a nice day out together, they felt like having a rest for a little while and then getting started on dinner for that evening. The dark elf had a feeling though that their evening wouldn't be so uneventful. She looked towards Mercury and spoke up while holding onto his arm.
"Merc." she said.
He looked at her curious about why she was suddenly serious.
"Yeah? Is something wrong, Khanna?," He asked.
She shook her head and chuckled.
"No, silly. But we are going to have a few guests this evening for dinner.," She answered.
Mercury raised an eyebrow curiously.
"Really? Who?," Mercury asked genuinely curious.
She chuckled again.
"You'll see when we get there, Merc. There'll be some people you will recognize.," Khanna said.
"Are you sure about that?," Mercury asked.
Khanna nodded.
"Yeah. Don't ask me how I know, I just do. We dark elves can sense things humans can't or that they have difficulty sensing, remember?," Khanna reminded him.
Mercury nodded. He knew better than to argue with Khanna on this. If she so sure about their apparent guests, chances were she was right. The two kept on chatting the entire way back to their small house. They did have a wonderful afternoon after all. It was full of walking around town, enjoying the scenery from a cliff just outside of the small village, and just enjoying each other's company as a real couple now. When they returned to the small home they stayed in, it was already evening. Just as they entered their small home, they were greeted by a rather familiar face.
"Hailfire?," Khanna asked.
The Auburn haired dark elf nodded as the two friends embraced for a few moments. There was a joy that was present, but also a mutual understanding that passed between them.
"Uh.. Hi there.," Mercury said awkwardly.
Hailfire smiled and acknowledged the young man.
"It is good to see you in fine health as well, sir Mercury.," Hailfire greeted.
Mercury nodded.
"Likewise, Hailfire.," He responded with a nod.
Khanna looked towards her friend. Hailfire knew what that look meant, business.
"If you're here... My mother, she's in the other room isn't she?," Khanna asked.
"Indeed she is. She awaits both of you on the deck.," Hailfire said with a slight bow.
Khanna grabbed Mercury's hand and nodded to him. He nodded back as they continued towards the deck that overlooked the backyard of the house. It was a few moments later that both Mercury and Khanna walked out onto the deck of the home they had been staying in for the last several months. And it was there that they came face to face with Lylah, Khanna's mother whom she hadn't seen in months. She was wearing her silver armor with her hair down to her mid back. Mercury was a little intimidated by her simply because she was the mother of his future wife. From what he'd heard from Khanna, Lylah was at one time the strongest individual female soldier on the continent of Solitas before her family moved to the continent of Sanus some years ago. This was in his mind, still the "Silver Lioness" he'd heard of in rumors and he had no desire to confront her at the moment. At the same time, he knew this was coming, so he may as well get it over with. The couple stood as Khanna then spoke up, addressing her mother.
"It's good to see you again, mother.," Khanna began.
Lylah skightly turned her head towards her daughter's voice.
"I see you've been busy since you left. Who's the young man next to you?," Lylah asked.
Mercury spoke afterclearing his throat.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, ma'am! I am Mercury Black. Your daughter's told me or... reminded me of you as I'd had my memories of my childhood sealed away until a while ago.," Mercury replied.
Lylah adopted a contemplative stance as she thought on Mercury's answer.
"Your memory was sealed away you said?," She asked turning towards the young man.
Mercury nodded and continued as he explained.
"My memory of your daughter, Khanna, as my childhood best friend was sealed away. But more importantly, of the girl who was the most important person in my life... I couldn't remember her. It was as if something blocked me from remembering her when I would get close to doing so. I know now that it was most likely Cinder's magic that prevented me from accessing that part of my past memory. But after Cinder was exposed as a terrorist, the fog in my head lifted.,"Mercury explained.
Lylah was seen smiling as Mercury explained.
"And you finally remembered how important my daughter was to you then?," Lylah concluded.
Mercury nodded as Khanna wrapped her arms around his right arm.
Lylah just smiled slyly.
"Well it certainly took you long enough, young man. As I'm sure you are aware of now... Khanna's had a crush on you since you two were kids.," Lylah said chuckling.
Mercury felt his face lightly heat up in embarrassment as he chuckled at the thought.
"O-Oh is that right?," He said a little nervous.
Lylah lightly patted his shoulder as she acknowledged him before going to hug her daughter.
"My daughter can be a bit much, but.. I think you'll be a good fit for her. (looks towards Khanna) You better keep him in line, you hear that Khanna?,"Lylah said.
Khanna felt her face turn red as she was clearly embarrassed.
"Mother, please! You're embarrassing me in front of him..,"Khanna said embarrassed.
"He'll be your husband soon, i'm simply preparing him for what his wife will be like when it's just the two of you.," Lylah said jokingly.
She cleared her throat, moving on.
The trio recognized this as her moving on to more serious talk.
Hailfire then joined them, being present for what their next move would be.
"Onto more seroius matters... Do you two know where you're going from here?," Lylah asked.
Khanna and Mercury looked at each other and nodded.
"We're going to meet up with Ruby and the others.," Khanna said.
"Okay, then what?," She asked.
"Head towards Mistral to track down Cinder, and then we'll... go from there.," Khanna said.
"I see. That's start at least. The enemy has made their move though. You need to be prepared.," Lylah said.
Khanna immediately gained a scowl. She knew what her mother meant.
"So the devils are finally done hiding, eh?," Khanna asked.
"It would seem that way.," Hailfire spoke.
Khanna then turned to Lylah, recognizing how dangerous this mission of theirs had suddenly become if Devils were involved.
"Would you be willing to help us then?," Khanna asked.
Lylah smiled.
"That is what your rulers sent me here for, but also for.. another reason.," She answered.
Khanna was confused and raised a confused eyebrow in question.
"And that is?," Khanna asked.
"To find your father of course. I think it's about time, we... reconnected as a family. He deserves to know that he has a daughter. And... (sighs) someone has to snap him out of that awful habit he has.,"Lylah said.
"Dad has a bad habit?," Khanna asked confused because she'd never met her father.
"You'll see what I mean when we find him.," Lylah replied.
The four then took the rest of that evening to not only catch up, but to strategize on their 2 goals going forward: Rejoining Odyn & Ruby's group, and (2): Reuniting their family.
Back in the Faunus Village.....
The last few days had been a whirlwind of activity in the small village. This was a big event as far as the village was concerned. It was late morning and trending towards the early afternoon now. The village was still abuzz with activity. Everything from streamers to flowers, confetti, and banners with the words "Congradulations, Mr and Mrs Caldern!" were being hung up all around the village. Baron was a little thrown off by just how BIG of a deal it was to this village to be hosting a wedding.
"I know they said it was a pretty big deal to host a wedding here but uh... aren't they going just a tad bit overboard?," Baron asked sweatdropping.
Flare chuckled as she wrapped herself around his arm and leaned her head on his shoulder.
"That's just how things are around here, you'll get used it.," Flare said chuckling.
Baron smiled at the young faunus woman beside him as he slipped his hand into hers with their fingers interlocking. Very soon, this beautiful young woman would become his wife after all and he couldn't be any happier. He turned to her, whispering into her ear.
"Mind taking a walk with me for a little bit, Flare?," He asked.
She smiled as she turned to her future husband.
"I'd love that.," she said.
The two took a short walk around the village, admiring the way the village was decorated just for their wedding. The people of the village all greeted them jovial when they passed by. They were the guests of honor for the festivities later that evening, after all. As they walked in the streets, Flare began to envision in her mind what a life with Baron would look like. Everything from their soon to be marriage ceremony, to glimpses of them having children, grandchildren, and then the two of them growing old together. But then, a thought occurred to her.
She was marrying a Dark Elf... And it was well documented that Elves stop aging physically after a certain age. Did that mean she would retain her younger appearance too?
Baron also had a thought. He was marrying A Fox Faunus. Did that mean when Flare gave birth that it would essentially be the birth of a new race? They'd have the blood of a Faunus and a Dark Elf within them. It could mean the birth of an entirely new race of Faunus: One who had the magic power and combative abilities of a dark elf and the physical traits of a faunus.
These were the thoughts swimming through their minds at the moment. But honestly, they were just happy to be with each other. While this wqs a joyous occassion, things would get dangerous once they were back on the road again.
Late morning had turned into early afternoon and the couple knew they had to part ways temporarily. Flare stopped before turning giving Baron a peck on the side of his face.
"I'll see you shortly, Baron.," Flare said as she embraced him.
He nodded.
"Same to you, Flare.," He said as they each held each other's face before going their separate ways to get prepared for their ceremony.
Short time skip later....
The small backyard of the Kitsune residence was filled with villagers as guests packed the seats and pews provided. There was nervous, but also joyful chatter as the guests awaited the bride and groom.
The chatter died down slightly when Baron came up the center Isle and stood in the front, alongside Falbior and some of the other village faunus men.
Falbior was serving as the administrator or the priest for the wedding since their village had none. He leaned over to Baron to check up on him.
"I do hope you know how proud myself and my wife are to welcome you into the family, young man.," Falbior said.
Baron nodded to the faunus family head and kept his response short and quick.
"Thank you, Mr Kitsune. I couldn't be more happy to be making your daughter my wife. I guess I should call you father now, huh?," Baron replied.
Although Falbior liked the sound of that, he wouldn't let his future son in law get ahead of himself just yet.
"Pace yourself, you haven't married my daughter just yet young man. Don't be calling me "Father" before you've married my daughter.," Falbior said chuckling.
Baron simply chuckled in response before facing forward once more. He did this just in time as the bride had just arrived onto the scene. Everyone stood up in welcomed the Bride as she wqs walked down the isle by her mother and 2 sisters. Baron was speechless, Flare was already a very beautiful young woman, but the dress she wore made him unable to keep his eyes off of her. She was even more gorgeous.
Flare also looked at Baron, unable to hide the blush on her face at seeing him in a suit.
"Y-You look very handsome, Baron.," She shyly whispered to him.
Baron scratched the back of his head in embarrassment before silently responding to her compliments.
"Yeah.. thanks Flare. You're... gosh... you're even more stunning than i thought possible in that dress. It's hard not to look at you.," Baron quipped to her quietly.
Flare felt her tail slightly start to wag before she regained control of it. She was overjoyed at Baron's compliments, but they had to focus right now. She'd let out her feelings of joy towards him later.
Falbior then began as all of the guests sat down.
"My fellow villagers, Friends, Family, and all of our honored guests. Today marks a very special occasion: a joyous one in fact. Our own Flare Kitsune, my daughter, has found love in a very kind young elven man. You all know him as Baron. Such a union is to be celebrated with gladness and joy. We all are here to bare witness to this joyous union. If anyone is opposed to this, stand and speak up now.," Falbior said.
A moment of silence passed with no hands being raised in rejection of Baron and Flare's union. Falbior nodded and with a smile then continued.
"Very well, seems we're all in agreement. Now then, ring bearers if you would.," Falbior announced.
Jade was one such bearer, with one of the village boys being the other. Falbior thanked them as the children then went back to stand beside bridal party and Groom's party respectively.
He called Baron forward first instructing him on how to put the ring onto Flare's finger.
"Now then, Baron Caldern, your vows if you would please.," Falbior said in request.
Baron nodded and spoke.
"With this ring, I hearby wed you, Flare Kitsune, and take you to be my wife. I'll be there for you to have and to hold, in sickness and in health. Until death, do us part.," Baron said before continuing.
"Flare, I remember when the two of us first met. In my time with you, I'd always thought you a very beautiful girl. You tried your best at everything you did, despite being shy. You may not have been the best at things, but that's what drew me to you. It was that courage to try new things, even if you knew you weren't very good at it or tyat you'd fail the first time. You never gave in and kept on trying until you eventually succeeded. Like I had told you previously, i wasn't sure that I could ever love another girl like I loved my childhood best friend. But then you showed up in my life, just needing someone, anyone to believe in you. And i thought: If i could be tyat person for her, she would really become something. Little did I know tyat you'd become so much more and the most important woman in my life.
All this to say, I love you so very dearly Flare. And I'm honored to become your husband.," Baron said as he finished.
Flare felt a little teary eyed but held it back as she stepped forward sliding the ring onto Baron's finger.
"With this ring, I do wed you, Baron Caldern and take you as my husband. This symbol will be my promise to you to have and hold me in sickness and in health, until death do us part." She said before continuing.
"Baron Caldern, when we first met.. admittedly I was a little scared of you. But that's only because I knew you were a strong person. But you were so handsome too. I hate saying that it was love at first sight, but.. it was just that. I couldn't get you out of my mind, especially after you stood up for me whenever I was bullied. I wanted to be like you, so in a way you became my hero. You still are, but now I feel that I'm strong enough to atand beside the man who is my hero but also the most irreplaceable person in my life. Before I knew it I had developed feelings for you that had become a full blown crush. When you asked me out for the first time, it was the happiest moment of my life. I love you very dearly, Baron. May my life support your strength and in turn your life give me strength and support. I couldn't be any happier to become your wife.," Flare said.
Falbior looked between the two and nodded with a satisfied smile.
"Baron Caldern, do you take Flare Kitsune to be your wife?," He asked.
Baron nodded.
"I do indeed, sir.," Baron said without hesitation.
He then turn to Flare.
" And do you, Flare Kitsune take Baron Caldern to be your husband?," He asked.
"I do.," Flare said with a smile and giggle.
"By the authority vested in me as chief of this village and as over seer of these proceedings, I now pronounce you man and wife.," He said before turning to Baron. "You may kiss your bride, young man."
Baron and Flare took hold of each other before they each leaned in closing the gap between their lips. Flare was actually the more aggressive one as she turned their tender moment into a passionate kiss. She'd been waiting for a long time to kiss Baron and the young dark elven man could tell by the emotion within their kiss. The finally separated from the gesture and turned to the raucus applause and cheers from the villagers.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I now present to you Mr and Mrs Baron and Flare Caldern!" Falbior said jovially.
The now married couple looked out on the scene of cheering villagers with smiles. They knew that they'd have to say goodbye soon, but... at least for now they could enjoy this moment as a newly married couple.
Flare envisioned in their head what their friends reactions would be once they discovered that her and Baron were now married. The elves wouldn't be surprised, but Rwby and JNPR definitely would be.
For now, they'd enjoy this. After all, with what they'd have to potentially face who knows when the next time they'd get to relax like this was? They'd meet up with their friends eventually, the village was awaiting them. The new couple made their way down the center Isle and into the crowd of joyous villagers, their Marriage Ceremony had concluded. The celebration of it was about ro begin...
