FGO System in the Type-Moon World

Chapter 7: Chapter 007: Tohsaka Tokiomi’s Next Move

"What?! You're telling me the Matou family head is dead? And that Sakura is nowhere to be found?!"

For the first time in a long while, Tohsaka Tokiomi's usually elegant composure cracked.

"And you're certain of this?"

On the other end of the line, Risei Kotomine responded gravely.

"Judging by the aftermath, it seems Matou Zouken encountered that magus—Reiji Souma—right outside the Matou estate."

"Whatever happened after that, no one knows."

"But the result remains the same—Matou Zouken is dead."

Tokiomi remained silent for a moment, absorbing the information.

When he first heard the news, he hadn't immediately suspected Reiji Souma.

But now that Risei brought up his name, it all made sense.

Tohsaka was the ruler of Fuyuki City.

And Reiji had just openly killed someone within his domain.

That, alone, was already an act of defiance.

But worse—

If Reiji had indeed taken Sakura…

That was unacceptable.

He had sent Sakura away so that she could inherit the Matou family's crest.

If everything had gone as planned, he would have been proud that his younger daughter had a future in magecraft.

But now—

If she was taken by an unknown factor?

That was completely different.

Now, he had to act—not just as her father, but as Fuyuki's overseer.

Closing his eyes, Tokiomi slowly steadied his breath, regaining his elegant composure.

"Risei, how long until Kirei returns?"

Risei hesitated.

Then—

"If everything goes smoothly, by tomorrow."

Tokiomi nodded.

Though he didn't believe a mere novice magus could pose a true threat, he wouldn't be careless.

After all, Reiji had managed to kill Matou Zouken—that, alone, demanded caution.

He would prepare thoroughly.

And then, he would win—gracefully, elegantly, and decisively.

"Once Kirei returns…"

Tokiomi took a sip of wine, his tone final.

"…we may have to eliminate a Master before the Holy Grail War even begins."

Meanwhile…

Tokiomi's plans were the last thing on Reiji's mind.

Because at this very moment—

He was standing outside the Tohsaka estate.

Using Absolute Detection, he had already located Tokiomi's wife and elder daughter.

And in the dead of night, he had led Sakura to the front door.

"Sakura, your mother and sister are inside. Go on—knock."

Sakura nodded eagerly, her small hands trembling with excitement as she approached the door.

She was just a child.

Her emotions were plain to see.

Her happiness was uncontained.

Watching her, Reiji let out a small sigh—then smiled.

"Master… I didn't expect this side of you."

Berserker's voice echoed through their telepathic link, amused.

Reiji chuckled.

"Well, this is just who I am."

Then, with a lighthearted tone, he added—

"You probably won't believe me, but the day I summoned you… was the first day I got involved in all of this."

His gaze softened.

"I guess I was always the kind of guy who'd do something like this."

Against his enemies, he could be cold-blooded.

But in moments like these—

Even he wasn't aware of the gentleness hidden within himself.

But none of that really mattered to him.

Reiji Souma's thoughts differed greatly from those of others.

He wasn't someone who actively pursued anything in particular.

But if there was one thing he insisted upon—

It was to live more freely and authentically than anyone else.

To be able to look someone he disliked in the eye and say it openly—

That was his goal.

In his previous life, he had these ideals—but not the power to uphold them.

Now, with the FGO System, he not only had his convictions but also the strength to see them through.

"Freedom and authenticity, huh…? Not bad."

Berserker's voice rumbled through their telepathic link.

Reiji didn't mind that his Servant had overheard his thoughts.

Instead, he simply grinned.

"Looks like we'll be working together for quite a while. So? You up for staying by my side?"

Berserker didn't hesitate.

"I exist to strike down my enemies. There's no hesitation in that. As long as you don't betray me, my spear will never pierce your body."

Hearing those words, Reiji's grin widened.

"Then let's get along, Cu Chulainn."
