Fate: Zero to Hero

Chapter 215: Midgard

In that of Midgard in that of cave was Sherlock Holmes, Jeanne, Lanling, And Chaos, as they looked at what can only be described as a sealed, as it has an ungodly amount of runes, it was shapes like circle, and had that of magic chains as well, the Degine of the Circle made it look like Mage.

Sharlock then tapped his comnunicater. "We found the seal in Midgard".

Sion voice came up. "Wait already, my team hasn't even found our yeat".

Kadoc then spoke. "You have to be shitting me, we just had to deal with a puppet and you guys just easily found yours".

Ritsuka then spoke from his side. "Enough, just because one team found there first doesn't mean a anything, we still need to destroy them together at once, so unthle the reminding 8 teams find there we can't do anything".

Sharlock looked around as he spoke. "I expect that of guardian, so where is the Guardian".

Jeanne, standing next to Sherlock, looked at the seal closely, her sword drawn and at the ready, while Lanling observed the intricate runes with a keen eye. Chaos, ever the mysterious figure, remained quiet, as always, but his presence felt heavy in the air.

Sherlock, tapping his communicator again, frowned slightly. "The guardian should be nearby. Such powerful runes and chains must be defended by something formidable. It wouldn't make sense for such a complex seal to be left unprotected."

Sion's voice came through once again. "Then proceed carefully. There could be a trap."

Kadoc, his voice still laced with irritation, added, "We are in the middle of a fight, and you're telling us to proceed carefully now? After dealing with that puppet and everything else? Fine. But hurry up, would you?"

Ritsuka, ever the level-headed leader, intervened. "Calm down, Kadoc. We need to stick to the plan. Sherlock, if you've found the seal, then it's just a matter of time before the guardian reveals itself. Be ready for anything."

Lanling spoke up then, his eyes narrowing as he scanned the surroundings. "There's a presence here. I can feel it. It's like… something ancient, not quite a living being but a manifestation of the seal's power."

Sherlock nodded, adjusting his coat as he stepped closer to the seal. "This is a highly complex and dangerous setup. If the guardian is part of the seal's structure, it might only reveal itself when we attempt to break it. Be prepared for a confrontation at any moment."

Jeanne stood ready, her sword held firmly in both hands. "Let them come. We'll handle whatever shows up."

Chaos remained eerily silent, but his focus remained unbroken. His eyes glinted with the promise of chaos, though the true nature of his abilities was anyone's guess.

The group began to prepare for whatever the guardian would throw at them. Sherlock carefully examined the runes once more, searching for any signs of a trigger or hidden mechanism, while Lanling and Jeanne kept watch for any movement in the shadows.

Suddenly, the ground beneath them began to tremble. The chains on the seal rumbled as the presence of the guardian grew stronger, the air growing thick with an oppressive aura.

And then, without warning, the chains snapped.

A dark figure emerged from the center of the circle, its form shrouded in shadows. Its eyes glowed with an unnatural light, and its voice, low and unsettling, echoed through the cave. "So, you have come to break the seal. I am its guardian, and you will not pass."

Sherlock's eyes narrowed. "It seems our fears were correct. Brace yourselves."

The battle was about to begin.

The Dark Figure then with one step was now Infront of Jeanne, as then Jeanne was dner back hitting the wall, as then Chaos moves and blocked trh next attack, the Dark Figure looked at the Shadows figure, as then Lanling moves as he tryed to hit with his sword but it was then blocked, as then Dark Figure then kicked Lanling.

It then looked at Chaos. "A Demond God Piller, no a dead one, so there is Necromancer in your group, he seems to be not from here, the saint has lighting, the Swords man seems like he is not the master and You". He then looked at Sharlock as he spoke. "You are different".

Sherlock, ever the calm strategist, didn't flinch despite the Dark Figure's chilling words. His eyes were sharp, calculating, as he observed the figure before him. The moment the figure had spoken, Sherlock had already deduced something—this wasn't an ordinary guardian.

"You've noticed it, haven't you?" Sherlock spoke coolly, his voice steady despite the tension. "You can't hide behind vague words. If I were to guess, your origin is far more ancient than these ruins."

The Dark Figure tilted its head slightly, the glow from its eyes intensifying. "Clever. But you're not wrong. My purpose is to protect the seal and ensure no one escapes its curse. You may not know it yet, but you're all playing into a game far larger than yourselves."

Chaos, his hand gripping the blade of his sword, stepped forward, his demonic aura radiating off him like a palpable force. "You speak as if you know everything. But what game are we playing? This world? Our lives? Or perhaps something more... sinister?"

The Dark Figure gave a dark laugh, a sound that was more felt than heard, vibrating through the air. "You are not ready for the answers you seek. Some questions are not meant to be asked."

Lanling, recovering from the kick, rose to his feet with a determined expression. "If you're a guard, then it's your job to stand in our way. But that doesn't change our mission. We're here to destroy this seal, and no one—not even you—can stop us."

The Dark Figure's eyes shifted briefly to Lanling, then to Chaos and Jeanne. It seemed to be studying them, as though attempting to gauge their strength and intentions. "You speak of breaking the seal, but do you understand what that means? Do you understand the power you're tampering with?"

Jeanne, still recovering from the earlier strike, lifted her sword once again, her eyes burning with determination. "We're prepared to face whatever comes next. Whatever the seal holds, we will break it."

At that moment, the Dark Figure's form rippled as if its body was made of smoke, and before they could react, it moved—faster than anyone could track.

A surge of pressure flooded the cave as the Dark Figure appeared behind Sherlock, the air crackling with destructive energy. It raised its hand, ready to strike.

But Sherlock, with his sharp intuition, had already predicted the move. In an instant, he dodged to the side, and the Dark Figure's blow missed by mere inches, sending a shockwave through the cave that rattled the walls.

"You're quick," the Dark Figure noted, not at all surprised. "But speed alone won't save you. You are merely delaying the inevitable."

Sherlock straightened, his coat swishing as he adjusted his stance. "We'll see about that."

Chaos, sensing an opening, charged forward, his demonic power flooding the space. He swung his sword at the Dark Figure with a force that could tear through mountains. But the Dark Figure, once again shifting its form, disappeared into the shadows, reappearing behind Chaos in an instant.

"Impressive. But futile," the Dark Figure taunted.

With a swift motion, it thrust its hand forward, aiming for Chaos' chest. However, Lanling, who had anticipated this, leapt in the way, blocking the attack with his sword. The impact sent a jolt of energy through him, but he held firm.

"I won't let you harm my allies," Lanling gritted through his teeth.

The Dark Figure narrowed its eyes, a growl escaping its throat. "You are all so eager to die for a lost cause. But death is the only outcome awaiting you."

Jeanne, now fully back on her feet, gripped her sword tightly and took a step forward. "We don't fear death. We fear failure. And we won't fail."

The Dark Figure turned to face Jeanne, its form shifting once again into something more monstrous—its true form, perhaps. It let out an eerie laugh as it raised its arms high, the chains of the seal rattling as if in response to its call.

"You think you can defeat me?" it sneered. "I am the embodiment of the seal's will. I am the final judgment. You are nothing more than intruders, and your attempts are already doomed."

Sherlock, Chaos, Lanling, and Jeanne stood their ground, ready to face whatever this guardian would throw at them.

The battle was only beginning.

The Dark Figure slammed his foot, as then Animals of all types, covered in dark energy came out it's Shadow.

Chaos just looked at as he spoke. "Impossible".

Sharlock looked at him as he spoke. "This, it is almost smiler to that of Ritsuka Umbrel Summons, but how".

The creatures emerging from the shadows resembled twisted reflections of reality—wolves with eyes burning like dying stars, serpents coiling unnaturally as if they were made of liquid darkness, and great birds with wings that oozed black mist. Each of them radiated a presence that felt disturbingly similar to Ritsuka's Umbra Summons.

Sherlock adjusted his gloves, his sharp eyes scanning the battlefield. "No, not quite the same. Ritsuka's Umbra Summons are created from his power, forged by his will. These… these are something else. More like—"

"Corrupt imitations," Chaos finished, gripping his sword tightly. "These things don't feel… alive. They feel like echoes of something long lost."

Lanling tightened his grip on his sword, standing protectively near Jeanne. "Then the answer is simple. We cut through them."

The Dark Figure let out a distorted chuckle. "You think you can? Go ahead, struggle all you like." With a wave of its hand, the creatures charged.

Jeanne raised her flag, divine light bursting forth to push back the encroaching darkness. "Lanling, with me!" She called out, leading the charge as she slashed through the first wave of creatures.

Lanling followed immediately, his sword cutting with precise elegance, slicing through shadowy beasts like a blade through silk. Each creature dissipated into black mist upon death, yet for each one that fell, two more seemed to rise from the Dark Figure's shadow.

Chaos, meanwhile, met a massive shadow-lion head-on, his blade igniting with corrupted demonic energy. He cleaved through its maw, sending a shockwave that tore apart several creatures around him.

Sherlock, ever the tactician, stayed back, analyzing. His mind worked through the details at an impossible speed. These creatures… they're feeding off something. The seal? No, not quite. Then what— His eyes flicked to the chains binding the seal, glowing faintly beneath layers of runes.

Of course.

"Sion, are you getting this?" he spoke into the communicator.

Sion's voice crackled through. "Loud and clear, Holmes. Though I gotta say, you guys are in more trouble than we are."

"No time for sarcasm," Sherlock replied. "The guardian isn't just defending the seal—it's sustaining itself by siphoning energy from something deeper. I need you to cross-reference the runes we sent earlier. Find out what it's truly connected to."

"Already on it. Give me a minute."

"A minute is a long time in battle," Sherlock muttered before ducking as a shadowy serpent lunged for him. With precise footwork, he evaded its strike and drew a pistol, firing an ether-coated bullet that dissolved the beast instantly.

The Dark Figure observed them, its glowing eyes unreadable. "You amuse me. But this resistance is meaningless. The more you fight, the stronger I become."

Jeanne gritted her teeth. "Then we just have to overwhelm you before you can recover!" She raised her flag once more, summoning divine energy to strike down a wave of creatures.

The battlefield was chaos, but Sherlock knew the truth—this wasn't a fight they could win through brute force alone. They needed to sever the Dark Figure from its power source.

And he had a feeling time was running out.

"Cries Dream Slash In Red"

As then a slash of Shadow and fire came and cut the Shadow figure in half, as it was then sent to the wall, as it cut the wall, as the Shadow figure was also cut in half it then started to regenerate, as they turned there he's too see to was Ritsuka, as his Red dragon wing was out as his red hair was ready.

Chaos looked at Ritsuka. "Master".

Ritsuka looked at Chaos. "You done good, let's see how much they guy hand the God Killing Energy".

The Shadow Figure got up as he looked at Ritsuka. "Divin enegry what are you".

Ritsuka just looked at as he spoke. "A Human who have a God, Arise!".

As then his Umbrel summoned cane out his shadow, his shadow army came out and was next to him, as Ritsuka fixes his sword Albion, as he then activated the Gems of the Angelic. "Let's see, this one". As the 6th gen in his arm glows a holy light energy, as then Chaos joined his fellow shadow summons.

Jeanne just looked as she spoke. "But Ritsuka you should with your group, making your what I Asgard".

Ritsuka looked at her as his red hair flowed as he spoke. "Don't worry, with Shadow step I can just teleport back to my own group, Dragon Slash!".

As then Ritsuka right arm, turned that do dragon as then sent a enegry attack at the shadow Figure, as if looked like claw marks with red enegry.

The energy attack tore through the battlefield, the claw marks of crimson light slashing toward the Dark Figure with destructive force. The moment the attack struck, the Dark Figure raised its arms, summoning an array of shadow barriers in an attempt to block.

BOOM!

The barriers shattered instantly, and the force of Ritsuka's attack sent the Dark Figure crashing through the cavern walls, debris flying in all directions. For a moment, there was silence.

Then, a deep chuckle echoed from the dust cloud. "Heh… A mere human wielding both divinity and shadows. You're interesting, boy. But…" The voice trailed off as the shadows within the cavern thickened unnaturally.

Jeanne immediately raised her flag, divine energy flaring up in response. "Something is wrong!"

Sherlock adjusted his gloves, his sharp mind already piecing together the situation. "He's trying to counteract Ritsuka's divine energy with pure abyssal corruption. Be ready."

The Dark Figure finally stepped forward from the crumbled stone, his body reforming, but now his presence felt… denser, darker. His wounds had regenerated, but now cracks of red light pulsed across his form.

"You carry God-Killing Energy… and yet you wield divinity as well. You… you are a contradiction. And contradictions must be erased." The Dark Figure raised a hand, and instantly, the corrupted beasts around him surged forward in a frenzy.

Ritsuka didn't even hesitate. "Umbra Summons—Go!"

Like an unstoppable tide, his shadow army crashed against the corrupted beasts. Chaos led the charge, his war hammer striking down an entire row of enemies with a single sweep. Lanling weaved through the battlefield with deadly precision, his sword cutting through creatures before they could even react. Jeanne fought side by side with Ritsuka, her divine flames clashing against the abyssal darkness, canceling each other out in bursts of energy.

Ritsuka's dragon-clawed hand pulsed with power, and he smirked. "Let's test something out." He raised his blade, Albion, and activated another of his gems—this time, the 4th Gem, one that contained Absolute Fire Energy.

"Sun God's Judgment!"

A massive burst of golden flames erupted from his sword, crashing into the battlefield like a divine calamity. The sheer radiance burned away the corrupted creatures instantly, and even the Dark Figure flinched, forced to raise a defense against the holy light.

The clash of energies shook the cavern, and Ritsuka grinned. "Looks like you can be burned. Good to know."

The Dark Figure snarled but did not back down. Instead, his form shifted—his body turning into pure shadow before reforming again. "You might have divine energy, but I am darkness itself."

Ritsuka's grin widened. "Then let's see if you can handle even more." He raised his sword, preparing another attack, but just then—

BEEP!

Sion's voice crackled through the communicator. "Ritsuka! We found something! The runes on the seal—there's more to them than we thought! Destroying the seal might not just open the Bifrost—it could unleash something else!"

Ritsuka narrowed his eyes. "Define something else."

"We're still analyzing, but whatever is locked away—it's not Asgardian. And it's not friendly."

The battlefield momentarily paused as everyone processed those words. The Dark Figure, however, chuckled. "Oh? It seems you've finally begun to realize… that some seals are not meant to be broken."

Ritsuka tightened his grip on Albion, eyes burning with resolve. "Too bad for you. We're breaking it anyway. The only question is—" He vanished in a blur of movement, appearing right in front of the Dark Figure, his dragon arm crackling with energy.

"—whether you'll still be standing when we do."

With a roar, he swung his blade, and the battle raged on.
