Chapter 208: Root
Mash looked around a bit before she found something, it was root but it was glowing with power. "Kama do think this what I think it is".
Kama Neale's down, as she checked felt energy, as she spoke. "This is either part of the Fantasy Tree or the World Tree".
Kama's eyes narrowed as she examined the glowing root more closely. "If this is part of the Fantasy Tree or the World Tree, it means we're dealing with something far older and more powerful than we initially realized. This energy... it's beyond what a regular Lostbelt would contain. It's as though the very fabric of reality is being influenced by this root."
Mash's grip on her spear tightened. "You think this is the source of the distortion we're seeing in this Lostbelt?"
Kama looked up from her inspection, her face a mixture of uncertainty and concern. "It could very well be. The Fantasy Tree is often linked to the world's concepts of existence and destruction, while the World Tree... it's said to connect all realms. If this root is connected to either one, it could explain the bizarre distortions we've been seeing in this timeline."
She stepped back slightly, her expression pensive. "It might be more than just a conduit. This could be a focal point—a node where the laws of physics, time, and space converge. If we don't understand its purpose, we might inadvertently trigger something catastrophic."
Mash felt a chill run down her spine. "But if it's tied to the World Tree... then this might be something even bigger than we imagined. If it can warp the boundaries between realms, how do we even begin to stop it?"
Kama glanced at her thoughtfully. "We don't have a clear answer yet. But we need to stay focused. We can't let the power of this root consume us. The longer we wait, the more dangerous it becomes."
The root pulsed once more, its energy fluctuating, almost as if it were alive. It was both alluring and foreboding, a silent warning of the tremendous force that lay beneath the surface.
Mash took a step forward. "We need to gather more information. If this is part of the Fantasy Tree or the World Tree, it might be the key to understanding everything happening in this Lostbelt. We have to stop the energy from spreading."
Kama nodded in agreement, her eyes sharp and determined. "Agreed. Let's figure out what we're dealing with before it's too late."
The two of them started to follow the root, as they did they arrived in a place as there eyes wident, as they saw many root, almost am unholy amount of one, there was so many it was hard to tell.
Mash pressed hee Shield. "Da Vinci, Sion are you there".
Mash's voice crackled over the comms as she pressed her shield. "Da Vinci, Sion, are you there?"
The silence was deafening for a moment before Sion's voice finally came through. "Mash? Kama? We hear you, loud and clear. What's the situation?"
Mash and Kama exchanged uneasy glances as they took in the overwhelming sight before them. The mass of roots stretched for miles, a tangled labyrinth of twisted energy pulsing with an unnatural force. It was like a massive network, far more than they'd expected.
Kama stepped forward cautiously, her gaze flickering over the endless spread of roots. "Da Vinci, you need to see this. There's a vast network of roots here. It's like nothing we've ever encountered. The energy is suffocating. If these are connected to the World Tree or Fantasy Tree, we're dealing with something far more complex than we thought."
Da Vinci's voice responded with its usual calm yet concerned tone. "Understood. Hold tight. We'll work on getting closer. Don't engage with anything unless you're sure it's safe. Sion and I will gather data and send reinforcements."
Mash nodded, gripping her shield even tighter. "Got it. We'll hold our position until then."
Kama turned to face her, her expression a mix of frustration and determination. "We don't have much time. If this root network spreads further, it could unravel everything in this Lostbelt. Let's just hope Da Vinci and Sion can come up with a plan."
Mash couldn't help but agree. The scale of what they were facing was beyond anything they'd prepared for. The roots pulsed again, louder this time, almost like a heartbeat echoing in the stillness of the cavern.
As they waited for backup, Mash and Kama's minds raced with the possibilities—none of them comforting.
Sion holographic image was then made. "Ok we did a scan, it is probably not part of the fantasy, because that should be in Asgard, as for what they is, it probably part of the world Tree".
Mash them spoke looking at as she spoke. "If that is true where is Nidhogg".
Da Vinci then spoke as her Holographic image was then made. "First of all, I am happy we can finally connect with you all, and second the deagon of Yggdrasil, it is probably not here because this probably not the lowest point".
Sion then spoke. "In that note, where are the other".
Kama then spoke. "Me, Mash came for our own investigation, Ritsuka and Yang Guifei went on there own way too see if there was a way to get to Asgard, we have no idea where Kadoc and Anastasia is at".
Sion processed the information, her virtual form flickering for a moment. "So, Ritsuka and Yang Guifei are trying to find a way to Asgard. It's good that they're on a clear path, but still... we need to ensure the rest of the group is accounted for. Kadoc and Anastasia have disappeared without a trace, and we can't afford to lose track of anyone right now."
Da Vinci's hologram appeared, her expression focused. "This Lostbelt is far more complicated than we thought. We need a strategy to cover all angles. Kama, Mash, hold your positions. We'll work on tracking the others. Keep us updated on your findings, and stay alert. This place is too unstable to make any assumptions."
Kama glanced at the growing roots again, her expression tense. "Understood. We're not going to make any moves unless absolutely necessary."
Sion nodded. "Good. Just keep in mind that, wherever Kadoc and Anastasia are, they'll likely be dealing with something as dangerous as what you're up against. Stay safe, and we'll find a way to coordinate soon."
Mash felt the weight of the situation pressing on her shoulders. "Right. We'll hold down the fort and wait for backup. Let's hope we can all regroup soon."
The group was scattered, each with their own objectives and dangers ahead. The puzzle of the Lostbelt deepened, and with Nidhogg's absence, the path forward became even more uncertain. They would need every bit of information and every ally they could find to navigate this treacherous territory.
Back with Ritsuka, he just looked at Yang Guifei and BB. "Again we are not flying up there, we have zero idea what will happen if we do".
Yang Guifei floated just a little higher, her eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, come on, Ritsuka, do you really think the Floating City is dangerous? It looks more like an opportunity."
BB, materializing beside Ritsuka, smirked. "We've dealt with worse. I don't see the harm in checking it out."
Ritsuka adjusted his red dragon wings, exhaling deeply. "We don't know what's up there, or what kind of defenses Asgard has. For all we know, the city is being guarded by beings beyond our comprehension. It's better to approach carefully."
Yang Guifei landed gently on the ground beside him, her playful smirk still intact. "Then what do you suggest, my dear Dragon God?"
Ritsuka thought for a moment, his eyes scanning the floating city. "We could try searching for an entrance, somewhere less obvious. If we fly up, we risk triggering a defensive mechanism we can't even predict. Plus, there's still the matter of the Fantasy Tree. We don't know what effect that will have on the rest of this Lostbelt."
BB tapped her chin, considering the options. "That's true. We could try to manipulate the environment around us—maybe find a way to connect with whatever is controlling Asgard. But we can't be reckless."
Ritsuka gave a small nod, resolving his stance. "We take it slow. No flying straight up into the unknown. We'll find a way inside and move with purpose."
Yang Guifei laughed softly. "Very well. I can play it safe for once."
BB's voice took on a slightly more serious tone. "Good. There's more going on here than we can see. Let's stay on our toes."
Together, they turned their attention back to the mysterious city above, knowing that whatever their next step was, it had to be calculated carefully to avoid the dangers lurking in Asgard.
Ritsuka then Looked at Loki. "So quick Question, what exactly happened to this world into a lostbelt".
Loki looked at him as he spoke. "Simble Odin Died".
Ritsuka was a bit confused. "But, instead Odin supposed to die, like it happens in Ragnarok... He died early didn't he".
Loki chuckled softly, the sound laced with dark amusement. "Exactly. Odin was never supposed to die early. His passing was meant to mark the beginning of Ragnarok, the end of the old world, and the birth of a new one. But in this timeline, something went wrong. Odin perished long before his time, and without his presence, the events of Ragnarok were delayed indefinitely. That imbalance allowed the Lostbelt to form, warping the world and its natural cycle."
Ritsuka frowned, processing the information. "So, without Odin to guide the events, everything was thrown into chaos... The gods, the humans, everything was left to their own devices. That's why this world looks so different, isn't it?"
Loki nodded gravely. "Yes. The world began to spiral out of control, with new forces trying to fill the vacuum left by the absence of the gods' order. But without Odin's wisdom, those forces led to corruption, distortion, and eventually, this Lostbelt."
Ritsuka narrowed his eyes, trying to make sense of everything. "But if Odin's death wasn't supposed to happen like this... Could it have been caused by something else? Something or someone interfering?"
Loki's eyes gleamed with mischief. "Well, you'll have to find that out for yourself. After all, you seem to be good at solving these puzzles, Dragon God."
Ritsuka glanced at Yang Guifei and BB, who both looked equally perplexed by the revelation. "This is bigger than we thought. If Odin's death was a key point in all of this, then there's more to this Lostbelt than just the tree or the floating city."
BB tapped her chin thoughtfully. "And we still don't know who's pulling the strings behind all of this. Someone must have interfered to bring about such a drastic change."
Yang Guifei, always ready to dive into action, raised an eyebrow. "Then let's stop wasting time. We need to get to the root of the problem."
Ritsuka, still deep in thought, nodded. "Agreed. But we need to be careful. We don't know what else has been altered in this Lostbelt."
BB then looked at as she spoke. "Will that takes away my theory of who the king of this Lostbelt was, I thought it was Odin".
Ritsuka then spoke Looking at BB. "Seeing how important Thor is, he is probably this world's Lostbelt King, just great another God".
BB nodded, her expression turning serious. "If Thor is the Lostbelt King here, it makes sense. He's the one with the most power in this twisted version of the world. Odin's death would have paved the way for Thor to ascend, but that also means he's ruling over a broken world."
Ritsuka clenched his fist. "Great. Another god with his own agenda. We already have enough to deal with, but now we have to take down a god with the power to reshape this place."
Yang Guifei looked at them both, raising an eyebrow. "Are we really surprised? Gods have always had a hand in the Lostbelts. It seems like every time we go to a new one, we end up facing off with one."
BB grinned. "At least it keeps things interesting, right?"
Ritsuka sighed. "I'm starting to miss the days when things were simple. But alright, let's go find Thor and deal with him. We've got enough on our plate with the whole 'resetting the timeline' thing, and adding a god to the mix isn't going to make it any easier."
With that, they set their sights on finding Thor, the ruler of this Lostbelt, ready to face yet another powerful deity standing in their way. The journey ahead was bound to be dangerous, but Ritsuka and his team were determined to see it through.
