Fate: The Rise of Shikama Douji

Chapter 48: Time travel 2

Kiritsugu Emiya felt as though his soul was being torn apart. With an iron will, he endured this indescribable pain. His body had begun to transform; from a mortal human, he was turning into a being with divine characteristics. His level of divinity had now surpassed even that of demigods. Unlike other vessels, Shikama Douji had not possessed Kiritsugu Emiya but had merely lent him a portion of his power. However, Kiritsugu Emiya's body was so fragile that it couldn't even withstand 10% of Shikama Douji's power. Only 8% of this boundless power flowed within him.

Kiritsugu Emiya stared at the moon with his golden eyes. He could see the fabric of reality, as if the veils of time and space had been pulled aside for him. In those few seconds, he caught a brief glimpse of the future. A future where his adopted son, Shirou Emiya, was present. A future filled with pain and suffering, yet also one of hope.

He felt as though he had infinite power at his disposal, power that could destroy everything. But this was merely an illusion born from the sudden surge of power. With only 8% of Shikama Douji's power, he couldn't achieve such a feat. Nevertheless, his power was now comparable to that of first-class heroic spirits. Kiritsugu Emiya could feel his soul being destroyed. His fragile existence couldn't endure even a fraction of Shikama Douji's boundless power. Because he had become Shikama Douji's vessel, the curse of all the world's evils had been eradicated, but in exchange, he was condemned to death due to the collapse of his existence.

Kiritsugu Emiya clenched his fist. This was an opportunity, a chance to atone for his sins. He could rectify all his mistakes, even if he would ultimately disappear. The Holy Grail War had begun, and the first battle between Artoria and Lancer was underway. His past self, along with Maiya, must be there. Kiritsugu Emiya knew he had to do something. His first target was to kill that "insect." With his cold, inhuman eyes fixed on the moon, he thought of that insect. An insect that would cause his son, Shirou, much trouble in the future. Kiritsugu Emiya decided to erase it completely from reality, leaving no trace behind.

A golden light enveloped Kiritsugu Emiya, and his clothes changed. He now wore a long white cloak that concealed his face, revealing only a portion of it. The space before him shattered, and Kiritsugu Emiya stepped through it. As Shikama Douji's vessel, he had gained vast knowledge. His inefficient magic circuits had been replaced with a divine core. His magical energy was now comparable to that of the Holy Grail. If he had even 30% of Shikama Douji's power, he could fulfill the wish of his past self—to save humanity. But now, he had no such wish. All he wanted was the happiness of his family.

Meanwhile, in the Matou mansion, that filthy insect was resting when it suddenly shuddered. It sensed a divine, inhuman aura. Its entire being trembled. "What is this? What has come here?" Its eyes widened. Suddenly, the space before it shattered, and a man in a white cloak appeared. The insect didn't even have time to beg for mercy. A massive golden light engulfed the entire Matou mansion, completely erasing the insect's existence.

Kiritsugu Emiya appeared before Sakura Matou, who was unconscious. He had destroyed the insects inside her body. With rare warmth, he gazed at Sakura and bestowed his blessing upon her—a form of protection that would watch over her in this dark world.

Amidst the battle between Saber and Lancer, Rider appeared and, like in the original, loudly proclaimed his true name. He made an offer to Artoria and Lancer, but, as in the original, his offer was rejected. While Waver angrily punched his chest, Rider merely tapped Waver's head with his finger, though not too hard.

"Saber and Lancer, your battle was so magnificent that it's impossible for only me to have witnessed it. Now, as Alexander, the King of Conquerors, I declare: O heroic spirits hiding like mice, if you do not appear now, I will scorn you!" Rider shouted with his majestic and booming voice. At that moment, the space shattered, and all eyes turned to a man in a white cloak. An immense magical energy radiated from him, filling the entire dock. Energy that could be felt from kilometers away. But this cloaked man was not a servant; he was a living being with a divine aura, like a divine spirit.

"It's good to see you again, Artoria," the cloaked man spoke, shocking Saber. Who was this man? Someone she knew? But she didn't recognize him, especially with such a divine aura. Yet, his presence felt somewhat familiar. Saber cautiously and curiously stared at the cloaked man. If someone were to observe from a third-person perspective, they would see that Kiritsugu Emiya wasn't looking at Saber but at Irisviel behind her.

"Who are you? How do you know my name?" Saber replied, drawing her sword. She looked at the man with seriousness. Kiritsugu Emiya stared at Saber with displeasure. Artoria, like her past self, was trapped in her pure ideals.

"I am just a wandering, wretched spirit," Kiritsugu Emiya replied. At that moment, the golden light condensed on a streetlight, taking the form of a handsome man in golden armor. Gilgamesh frowned as he stared at Kiritsugu Emiya. This man had a familiar presence. With the The OmniscientOmnipotent Star(Sha Naqba Imuru) ,he easily understood the reason for this familiarity. This man was the vessel of his teacher, Shikama Douji. Shikama Douji hadn't hidden his information, or else it would have been impossible for to discern his true nature. Cold sweat dripped from Gilgamesh's forehead.

He had wanted to punish this mongrel who called himself a king, but he hadn't expected to encounter his teacher here. Gilgamesh regretted appearing. If it weren't for his pride as the King of Heroes, he would have fled. The fear of Shikama Douji had seeped into his bones. During his lifetime, he sometimes had nightmares about this.
