Chapter 55: Chapter 55: I Imitate Myself
[3rd POV]
Scarred Red, this nickname sounds powerful, but it was something Touko hated to talk about.
It is neither the "Blue" of her family's tradition nor the pure "Red"—instead, it is the mixed "Orange" that is undoubtedly a mockery of her.
"Did your master not tell you what this name means?"
Touko's hand pressed against Kyouya's neck, her nails about to overflow with magical energy and anger.
"Does it even matter? All I see now is someone without any will to fight. What does it matter if you kill me now? You're still just a coward who runs away whenever you see your sister."
"What do you plan to do?"
Touko couldn't deceive herself.
She was still unwilling to accept it. If there was any possibility left, she still wanted to defeat her sister.
"Your original plan was to use that puppet, and since I destroyed it, you no longer have a way to deal with your sister, right?"
He dodged magic bullets while trying to reignite the fighting spirit of the Grand Puppeteer. Right now, only if the two of them worked together could they defeat the magician.
"I'll say it again. I'll take the place of the puppet, and you continue your plan. How about it?"
"You? Can you actually do it?"
Touko studied things like the Volumen Hydrargyrum not because of her expertise but because she understood the terrifying physical abilities of the divine heroes from the Age of Gods.
It was extremely difficult to replicate those with current tools.
Mercury was just a temporary fix, but now this kid was saying he'd replace the puppet.
A lot of doubts flooded Touko's mind, but the magic bullets flying past her pushed her to make a decision quickly.
"Did you bring the magic equipment inside the Volumen Hydrargyrum?"
"No."
Kyouya grabbed the sword quickly, but he wasn't really thinking about any other magic tools. He didn't even know which ones would be useful.
"Without the space adaptability granted by that magical equipment, you won't be able to teleport. You'll have to face a Magus directly. Even so, are you still willing to fight?"
"There's no reason not to fight now."
...
"Hmm? What about Touko?"
As Aoko thought Touko was being left behind, Kyouya stepped forward, blocking her path.
He was holding the holy sword, ready to fight.
"We just formed an alliance. After all, the only way to win is by working together, or you're bound to win."
"Is that so?"
Aoko closed her eyes and thought for a moment.
She was pretending to leave a weakness, but at the same time, she was sensing the big underground space.
Touko had modified the underground cavern, and at certain moments, it would reveal her will.
In Aoko's perception, that sense of despair was gradually fading, and her sister was beginning to return.
"I see, you're ready too."
Mana began to gather.
Aoko believed that her sister would never do anything to harm the Aozaki family, which meant that this boy in front of her had been acknowledged.
She could trust her sister's judgment, but that didn't mean she would show mercy.
The moment this boy got involved in the affairs of the Aozaki family, it meant there was no way for him to walk away without facing the consequences.
"Yes, I'm ready."
He gripped the holy sword in his hand again.
That familiar sensation returned to his body.
Even though this was the first time this body had held the sword, it felt like he was meeting an old friend he had known for a long time.
Kyouya's physical abilities weren't at Lloyd's level, and while he understood fighting techniques and had experience, using those skills in real battles required a lot of training.
Time was certainly not enough for him.
Suddenly, the atmosphere shifted.
Aoko, who had previously been calm, looked at her enemy's stance and felt something different for the first time.
It was as if an ancient hero was imitating the enemy standing before her.
"Imitation? Is that even possible?"
She could immediately tell what Kyouya was doing. However, she couldn't believe that such a high purity of imitation could exist in this world.
There was no magecraft involved—just willpower, imagination, and complete familiarity with the target.
This allowed him to reach a technique almost like imitation.
Normally, this would be impossible.
However, Kyouya was different and possessed an incredibly strong imagination and willpower thanks to his "Demon Brain."
That's why "Lloyd" appeared in this world once again.
"This guy... maybe he really can pull it off."
Touko was hiding nearby, ready to help at any moment. She was initially willing to try it, but she never expected him to surprise her this much.
Fate really liked playing tricks.
When she was about to defeat her sister all those years ago, someone stopped her, and now, it was like their roles had been reversed.
To be continued...
