CHAPTER 62: SURVIVE III
A strange situation played out in the crawler shop.
A bit over one-meter tall boy with a little slime resting on his head was surrounded by several sea monsters, while a man about one meter, eighty centimeters tall was cowering behind the tentacles of a gigantic octopus.
The visual impact it brought would leave an outsider speechless.
However, the greater demon wasn’t to be blamed as it was general knowledge for a mage to fight from a distance when battling a warrior.
And Arlo despite his age was a powerful warrior.
The sea monsters attacked once more.
The crab monsters attacked with their pincers, the shrimps with their deadly claws, and the fishes bit with their razor-sharp teeth.
Arlo wove in between each of their attacks, while Anita’s cute voice constantly echoed out.
“Dark spear.”
“Dark spear.”
A spear made out of dark energy formed each time she spoke before they were hurled at the masters.
Whenever they connected with their targets, they would blast huge holes in them, instantly taking them down.
This was the only skill Anita devoured from Marvin, along with the ability to control darkness laws.
Marvin was after all only a servant, not to mention he didn’t even have a high cultivation in the first place, so that was all she could acquire.
Whenever the sea monsters were taken down by Anita’s attacks, more would retake their place.
Even with Anita’s support, Arlo started to struggle with all the attacks, so after thinking about it, he decided to use his only attack method aside from his physical body.
“Orbs.”
A huge amount of bluish Ki left the slime seal, before congregating at his hands, and with several whooshing sounds, Orbs of Ki formed before him.
Arlo was surprised to find out that he could now form four orbs. He quickly attributed it to Anita devouring Marvin, as he didn't have enough time to think deeply about it.
*Ziiiiiiiiinnnnng!* As the orbs spun at a high speed, Arlo controlled them with his divine sense.
*Peng! Peng! Peng!* The sound generated when the orbs impacted the sea monster before blasting them into countless water droplets. On impact, they sounded like they were colliding with real bodies further enforcing Arlo’s thought of not getting touched by the sea monsters.
With the help of the orbs and Anita’s assistance, Arlo found the pressure significantly reduced on him.
He stopped dodging attacks and started attacking as he simultaneously controlled the orbs.
The rate at which he destroyed the sea monsters was now greater than the rate at which they respawn. They couldn’t stop his step as he inched ever closer to the greater demon.
With every punch, two to three monsters would be destroyed by the small air cannons generated by his fists.
With every sweep of his leg, the air made slicing sounds, before booming sounds followed when they met their targets.
While his speed was greatly reduced, Arlo fought patiently and with great focus, closing the distance between them to three meters.
Behind the Octopus tentacles, the greater demon clenched his teeth in anger.
It would normally take three mages or warriors to face a greater demon of the same level, as it was very difficult for them to resist the corrosion of evil energy. Yet he lost his greatest advantage while facing a little kid who doesn’t seem to be even ten years old.
He felt like he had put his lord to shame.
In his anger, he lost control over his evil energy and allowed it to take over him.
A burst of evil energy spread out a radius of ten meters with him at the center, even sifting out the shop, however, Arlo ignored it as he drew closer.
Seeing this, he lost his final semblance of clarity, and the madness flashing within his eyes reached an unprecedented high.
“Kill him!” He bellowed out, with crimson veins bulging on his head.
In response, the tentacles that have been protecting him all this while all rushed forward to attack Arlo.
As they streaked towards him, they destroyed any sea monsters in their paths, not differentiating between friend from foe.
In opposition to feeling fear at the approaching danger, Arlo’s eyes glowed brightly.
He had been having a headache on how to get to the greater demon cowering behind the tentacles, but who would have thought the other party would save him the stress of thinking away?
Looking at the approaching tentacles, he didn’t dare to take them head-on, so he willed half his entire Ki into both his feet.
Taking a deep breath, he rushed out.
The impact pushed the water a meter around him away before spider web cracks formed on the ground.
His body turned into a blur as he rushed towards the approaching tentacles.
Every time his feet were about to tread the floor, the water was pushed away by the approaching force, thereby not reducing his speed greatly.
The orbs were glued onto him like small moons revolving around the sun.
Arlo wove in between the tentacles, and whenever a tentacle was about to hit him from a blind spot, the little orbs would blast them into water droplets. Anita on the other hand focused on the other sea creatures that were not yet destroyed.
The distance between them was bridged in just three steps.
*Whoosh!* In less than five seconds, he arrived before the man and jumped into the air intending to land a superhuman punch.
The greater demon grinned widely when their eyes met in Arlo’s early jump.
A huge shadow covered him, and Arlo couldn’t help but look up only to see several tentacles coiled around each other into a massive drill.
The greater demon brought down his raised hands, intending to finish Arlo.
However, in his state of madness, he forgot something very important.
He shouldn’t have allowed Arlo to draw near him.
Before he could complete his hand motion, and while Arlo was still in mid-jump, his eyes turned into slits when he saw Arlo open his mouth wide…
“FREEZE!” His body froze on the spot. In fact, everything around Arlo with the exception of the spinning orbs and Anita froze on the spot.
Arlo’s small fist surrounded by a milky light connected with the greater demon's head, and with a bang, his skull caved inward as his body blasted through the door out of the crawler shop.
All the sea monsters including the octopus and the water on the floor faded away after losing their supply of mana.
The light of life was still fading away from the greater demon’s eyes when a small shadow was cast over his face.
“Universal devouring!”
