Chapter 79: Vacation
"Ah!! The sea!"
At the resort of Akani Beach, Su Yan and the others had all arrived. Originally, Su Yan was going to bring Mira along, but the guild was still being rebuilt and Mira couldn't get away. The guild needed her help.
So the ticket was given to Erza, and a few of them went to the beach to play together.
"Look, look! This water is so clear and transparent!!" Natsu said excitedly, slapping the surface with his fist.
"Whoa!! Really!!" Gray looked down and could clearly see his lower body—wearing swimming trunks—under the water.
"Gray, you're wearing swimming trunks."
Su Yan also plunged into the water. He liked playing in the water, and because he had inherited Kaido's power rather than truly eating a Devil Fruit, the seawater had no restraining effect on him.
Before long, everyone began to enjoy the beach—playing watermelon smashing, riding on boats, and playing beach volleyball. Happy times always pass quickly, and the day flew by in a blink.
Evening came swiftly. Erza had unknowingly fallen asleep on a reclining chair, and with her guard down, painful memories of the past surfaced in her dreams.
Erza woke up suddenly, sweating profusely.
Just then, Lucy opened the door and walked in: "Erza!! I heard there's an underground casino! Su Yan and Natsu already went there. Let's go check it out."
"I can't help it," Erza said. She changed into a gorgeous evening dress: "Let's go."
Meanwhile, at the underground casino, many people were gambling. Those who came here to vacation were generally wealthy, so they often stopped by.
"Whirring whirring!"
Natsu was blowing hard at the roulette table, trying to steer the ball where he wanted.
The croupier stopped him: "Sir, please don't do that!"
"I clearly saw it land on 17!"
"Impossible!"
Gray, who was playing the slot machine beside him, laughed at the scene: "Haha!! That guy really can't catch a break."
Suddenly, someone appeared in front of Gray. Gray was stunned: "Y-You're…?!"
Natsu, still arguing with the dealer, clung to the last of his assets.
"I saw it with my own eyes!! Don't try to fool me!!!"
A voice spoke up: "Boy, in an adult's playground, you need to show a bit of class, understand?"
"Square…."
"Square…man?!" Happy and Natsu complained when they saw the strange blocky man.
The man crouched down, then leaped onto a swivel chair, spinning rapidly: "BOY, let me tell you something. There are only two paths for a man. Become mature and live gracefully…"
Then he suddenly jumped in front of Natsu, grabbed Natsu's scarf with one hand, and shoved a pistol into Natsu's mouth with the other: "…Or stop and die, understand?"
"It's a gun!!"
The surrounding crowd was frightened. Seeing the gun, they screamed and fled.
"What are you doing!!" Natsu exclaimed.
On the other side, Gray was at the bar with a girl who had aqua-blue hair.
"I heard that Phantom Lord disbanded?" the girl asked.
"Yes, Juvia is now a free mage," she replied, speaking of herself in the third person.
"Oh, so you want to join Fairy Tail?" Gray asked.
"Juvia would love to join."
"Well, after all that happened, I don't mind personally, but I don't know if the Master will agree."
"Juvia will do anything."
This aqua-blue–haired girl was Juvia, once part of the Phantom Lord's Four Elemental Mages.
At that time, Su Yan had used his Conqueror's Haki, sending enemies flying. Juvia had been knocked into a lake outside, just as Gray came to support Su Yan. Although she was an enemy, Gray, being a gentleman, didn't think it right to leave a girl in the water. He moved Juvia out of harm's way before returning to the fight.
Juvia, rescued by an enemy—one she found appealing—felt it must be fate, like a forbidden love straight out of an opera.
With Phantom Lord gone, she was happiest of all. She'd secretly watched Gray during the guild's reconstruction and, upon learning Gray would come here on vacation, promptly bought a ticket to follow him.
At this moment, a tall figure appeared behind Gray and Juvia.
The two were stunned and looked back together.
"Ah!" A huge palm slapped Juvia away.
"What the hell are you doing?!"
"You're Gray Fullbuster."
"Where's Erza?"
Meanwhile, Su Yan was at the dice table.
The dealer rattled the dice in a cup. The game was simple: bet on 'big' or 'small.' Because of the simplicity and excitement, a crowd gathered.
"Place your bets!"
Su Yan listened carefully and put his chips on 'big': "Big!"
"Big!"
"I'm all in!"
As soon as Su Yan placed his bet, everyone else followed him. Su Yan had been winning ever since he sat down, attracting a crowd who quickly copied his moves. After a few rounds, everyone had made a lot of money. The chips in front of Su Yan piled up like a mountain.
"You've got to be kidding me! Meow!" A girl dressed like a cat appeared next to Su Yan, placing a bet with her own chip.
Many people were stunned. "Little girl, this person's gambling skills are extraordinary. You'll lose if you go against him."
"It's okay~!"
"Open!"
The croupier revealed the dice: "Four, five, six…!"
"Awesome meow!"
"Won again!"
"Amazing!"
Everyone who followed Su Yan cheered happily.
"Meow Meow Bondage!"
"Ah!" A rope shot out of the cat-girl's palm and tied Su Yan up.
The kitten-like girl jumped onto the table and nudged the dice to show 1-2-3.
"One, two, three, small! Great! I win, meow~!"
