Fairy Tail: Strongest Creature

Chapter 74: The Real Garbage

"What?"

Everyone in Fairy Tail looked at each other, their faces filled with confusion. The duke's daughter was in their guild? How could they not have known that one of their own was a noblewoman of such high standing?

Lucy's face turned pale at Jose's words. She covered her mouth as her body trembled slightly. The guild was almost destroyed because of me?

Su Tan quickly realized who Jose was referring to.

Jose sneered, his voice dripping with mockery. "Still pretending not to know? At a time like this? The daughter of the Heartfilia Duke's family—Miss Lucy Heartfilia—isn't she a member of your Fairy Tail guild?!"

"WHAT?!"

"Lucy is the daughter of a duke?!"

Almost everyone in the guild turned to Lucy, their expressions a mixture of disbelief and shock. They had always known Lucy as the girl who worked tirelessly to pay her rent, a determined wizard who took on jobs just to get by. To think that she was secretly a noble—an heir to the powerful Heartfilia family—was almost incomprehensible.

The life of a wizard wasn't easy. It involved dangerous, often grueling tasks, and was typically chosen by those seeking adventure or struggling to make ends meet. Nobles like Lucy were almost never wizards—they were clients, hiring mages for protection or assistance.

If this were the modern world, it would be like the daughter of a duke taking up a job as a food courier.

Tears streamed down Lucy's face as she whispered, "Yes… I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hide my identity. I ran away from home because I didn't want to be treated differently because of my family. I love Fairy Tail so much. I wanted to prove my worth and live by my own strength."

Her voice cracked as guilt overtook her. "But… because of me, I've brought trouble to everyone."

Mira walked over to Lucy, her expression warm and reassuring. She wrapped her arms around Lucy in a comforting hug, gently stroking her hair. "It's okay, Lucy. You don't need to explain. We know exactly what kind of person you are. You've proven yourself over and over again. You're part of Fairy Tail. That will never change."

"Yeah! Lucy is Lucy!" someone shouted.

"Exactly! No matter where she's from, she's one of us."

"Wait… the daughter of a duke? That's… pretty amazing. Maybe I shouldn't have teased her so much about rent," one member added, prompting a round of laughter from the others.

The room, once tense, was now filled with warmth and camaraderie.

Su Tan smiled and spoke firmly. "Lucy, this isn't your fault. Whether you hid your identity or not, you're one of us. Jose's actions have nothing to do with you. He's just a bitter man who can't stand the fact that Fairy Tail is stronger than Phantom Lord."

The guild nodded in agreement, the realization dawning on them.

"That's right! What does it matter if we're rich or strong? None of that's his business."

"Who does he think he is, trying to control Fairy Tail? Over my dead body!"

Lucy's tears flowed freely, but now they were tears of gratitude. "Thank you… Thank you, everyone." Her voice trembled with emotion as she looked around the room. Since her mother's death, her father had grown distant and cold. Her once-warm home had turned into a gilded cage, suffocating and isolating her.

Fairy Tail was different. Here, she was treated as an equal, not as a duke's daughter. She had finally found the freedom and happiness she had always longed for.

This was the life she had dreamed of.

Just then, a sneering, discordant voice shattered the moment.

"Ugh. This disgusting display of harmony is unbearable," Jose spat, his voice filled with venom. "It's a trash guild, filled with trash wizards. My Phantom Lord is the strongest!"

Jose's bitterness seeped into every word. "If it weren't for that little monster Su Yan, my guild would have crushed you all!"

The guild bristled at his insult, but Su Yan stepped forward, his gaze calm and piercing. "The real trash," Su Yan said coldly, "is someone who tramples on others just to feel powerful. That's you, Jose."

Jose's face twisted in rage. Before he could respond, Makarov stepped forward, his commanding presence silencing the room.

"Jose," Makarov said, his voice steady and firm, "you insult my children one more time, and you'll regret it. This guild's strength comes from its members, not their wealth or status. Every wizard here makes me proud, and none of them are the garbage you so carelessly label them."

Jose glared, his fists trembling in frustration, but he said nothing. Su Yan pressed on, his tone unwavering. "For someone who claims to be the strongest, you're nothing more than a bitter coward. A man who treats others as garbage is the real garbage."

Jose's composure cracked. "Kill me, then!" he screamed, his voice desperate. "I'd rather die than live without magic!"

Su Yan took a step forward, his Conqueror's Haki surging like a tidal wave. Jose's body buckled under the pressure, and he collapsed to the ground, unconscious.

Makarov raised a hand, signaling Su Yan to stop. "There's no need to kill him, Su Yan. His magic source has been destroyed. He's powerless now."

In the world of wizards, the magic source—a core within the body—was essential for casting magic. Without it, even the strongest mage was no more than an ordinary person. Su Yan's earlier attack had shattered Jose's magic source beyond repair.

Makarov continued, "Let the Magic Council deal with him. They'll deliver justice."
