Chapter 51: The Cracked Island
"You want to destroy the Grimoire Heart?" Ultear's voice wavered, her disbelief evident. "Do you have any idea what you're saying?"
Su Yan gave her a cold, confident smile. "I know exactly what I'm saying. Now, the location. Or do you want me to take you down along with them?"
Ultear's heart raced. She knew Su Yan wasn't bluffing. This man had just shrugged off her strongest magic as though it were nothing. The sheer scale of his strength had left her trembling. But her loyalty to Hades and the Grimoire Heart ran deep.
"You think you're strong enough to take on Grimoire Heart?" Ultear snapped, trying to mask her fear with defiance. "You haven't seen what they're capable of."
"Is that so?" Su Yan's voice carried a dismissive tone as his eyes glinted with unshakable determination. "I've already decided. Whether you tell me or not doesn't change the outcome. It'll just be more painful for you if you don't cooperate."
Ultear's mind raced, her body still frozen from the lingering fear of Su Yan's earlier attack. She looked toward Lucy, who was peering cautiously from her hiding spot. There was no chance of an escape with Su Yan standing right in front of her.
"Fine," Ultear said, lowering her head slightly. Her voice was quiet, almost resigned. "But if you think taking them down will be easy, you're a fool."
Su Yan's expression didn't shift. "Where?"
Ultear hesitated for a moment before speaking. "Grimoire Heart is located aboard a massive airship—the Devil's Heart. It's always on the move, but its last known position was near Isvan. They're likely heading toward the next target."
"Good." Su Yan stepped closer, his imposing presence making Ultear instinctively flinch. "And Hades? Is he on the ship?"
Ultear clenched her fists. "Yes. But you should know, you're going up against a monster far beyond anything you've faced before."
Su Yan gave her a faint smirk. "We'll see about that."
Ultear's mind churned with a mix of fear, anger, and confusion. She didn't understand how someone like Su Yan could exist. His raw power eclipsed anything she had ever encountered. But despite her hatred for him, a small part of her couldn't help but admire his unyielding resolve.
Lucy cautiously stepped out from her hiding spot, her expression a mix of awe and relief. "Su Yan, are you sure about this? Grimoire Heart is dangerous… I mean, you've seen what they're capable of."
Su Yan turned toward her, his expression softening slightly. "Dangerous? Sure. But nothing I can't handle. We're not backing down now."
Lucy nodded hesitantly, trusting Su Yan's confidence but still unable to shake the anxiety gnawing at her.
As Su Yan turned his attention back to Ultear, his voice grew cold again. "Your life is mine now, Ultear. If you try anything, there won't be a second chance."
Ultear gritted her teeth but said nothing. Her pride burned at being at the mercy of someone like him, yet she knew she had no choice. For now, she would have to bide her time.
Su Yan raised his hand, the ominous black and red aura that surrounded him fading as he dissipated the remnants of his power. "Let's move, Lucy. Galuna Island's mystery is solved. It's time to finish what we started."
Lucy nodded, her heart pounding as she followed behind Su Yan. The once-intimidating Ultear now stood silently, watching their departure with a storm of emotions in her eyes.
As the two disappeared into the distance, Ultear sank to her knees, clutching the ground. "Destroy the Grimoire Heart?" she murmured, her voice trembling. "What kind of man are you, Su Yan?"
The canyon Su Yan had carved into the island stood as a stark reminder of the force that now threatened Grimoire Heart. In that moment, Ultear realized the tides of fate had shifted, and nothing would ever be the same.
