NOVEL NEXT Chapter 29: Gildarts
When the bells for the Gildarts mode rang in Magnolia, the first to notice it was the most rowdy bunch in Fairy Tail.
"Hey… "
"Isn't that…? "
"Gildarts is back. " It was like everyone was injected with chicken blood as they began to party even harder.
Waiters began to serve drinks left and right as the members were like hungry beasts who had never had water in a decade as they chugged drinks left and right.
" Wow, it seems the guild has gotten more chaotic, " Sera couldn't help but mutter as she served Laxus a plate of fried rice.
Due to building the house, both Sera and Akira used up all of their savings. So the two of them had to work overtime to collect enough capital to start their magic tool shop. And since Akira cannot leave Magnolia and do missions, he took on the job of a waiter.
And since today is Akira's first mission, Sera decided to take over instead of him. After all, it really doesn't make a difference in who takes over the shift.
"Well, this is natural since it's Gildart we are talking about, " Macao said as he gulped down his drink as he explained. Laxus was too busy enjoying the food to explain this stuff.
"When you say Gildarts, you mean the only S-rank member of the guild, right? " Sera asked. She had previously collected some information about guild members and the guild as a whole. So she knew some information about Gildarts, who is currently the strongest and only S-rank wizard of Fairy Tail.
From what she gathered, Gildart usually is a free-spirited person who takes on multiple missions at the same time and travels the whole continent while he is at it. Due to this, he rarely appeared in the guild.
She also heard that he is a bastard who sleeps with every woman left and right. There was even a rumor that he had gone to prison more than once because of a woman. In addition to all that, he was banned from entering any train station and multiple cities due to his tendency to release his magic and destroy everything unconsciously.
It could be said that most ordinary people, and most importantly, dark guild members, fear Fairy Tail due to his accomplishments of being a walking disaster.
" Yes, he is the strongest person in the guild. Even the president sometimes says he is no match for Gildarts when he is serious. And what's more, I heard that Gildart was even once offered to be one of the Ten Great Saints in the past. " Macao said proudly, not realizing that Sera has no good impression of Gildarts at all.
Just then, the front door was kicked open, and Akira came flying inside, crashing into someone. That person stumbled into another, who then hit another, setting off a chaotic chain reaction. The guild members, who had been merrily partying moments ago, stopped what they were doing and joined in on their usual brawl.
Tables, chairs, and beer mugs flew everywhere as the brawl escalated. Thankfully, magic was strictly prohibited during these scuffles; otherwise, the entire town would have likely been affected.
"I'd like one orange juice, please," Akira said casually, skillfully dodging the chaos he had caused as if it were part of his daily routine.
Sera sighed as she went to fetch Akira's order. Her baby boy was finally starting to show his true colors, especially now that he was fully integrated into this lively, chaotic guild.
"So, how did your first mission go? Did you get into any trouble?" Laxus asked, finishing the last bite of his fried rice. Initially, he had offered to accompany Akira on his first mission, but his friend had declined. Now, Laxus was eager to hear about Akira's experience.
Akira smirked proudly. "Of course, it went without a hitch. After all, we're talking about me. How could the great Akira fail to complete such an easy mission?"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever strokes your ego," Laxus replied dismissively, instantly losing interest at the sight of Akira's self-satisfied grin. Over the past few weeks, he'd learned one crucial lesson: never encourage Akira's ego.
"Hahaha! Don't get jealous, Laxus," Akira said shamelessly. "Look, I even got a bonus from the client thanks to my awesomeness!"
Saying so, Akira took out the dagger he got from Kelvin and placed it on the table. Laxus only gave it a fleeting glance before his expression froze.
Although he wasn't a blacksmith or anything, he could recognize the uniqueness of Mithril at a glance. He looked at Akira in horror and asked, " Hey you didn't rob the client's house, right? "
Maybe it was due to his shock, but Laxus's voice was louder than he wanted. So most of the guild members who were near them also heard his words.
"Wait, what? "
" Akira we didn't think you were this naughty. "
"Come on, if we hurry now, maybe we can place it before the owner notices it is missing. "
"Yeah, let's do that, or we would be having the council at our doorsteps any minute now. "
"Don't worry, Akira; if we apologize now, that man will definitely forgive you and not report you to the council. "
"Damn, this is a Mithril knife so the owner may already be on his way to the council to report about Akira. "
Everyone stopped what they were doing and came running as they looked at Akira with worried eyes. What's worse is that even Makarov, who came down from his office, was included in this group.
Akira's lips twitched as he looked at everyone with an expressionless face. Did these bastards have such a low evaluation of him? " You guys can't you just accept the fact that the client was so happy about my performances that he gave me this dagger as a bonus. " Akira asked with exasperation.
"That's impossible, " everyone said in unison. Who were they kidding? How could there be someone who is this generous enough to gift a Mithril knife to a kid? Even a king wouldn't hand out such luxurious rewards casually.
And besides there has been no client who is this generous enough to hand over such precious weapons to wizards in all of history. In fact, no Fairy Tail wizard has ever gotten a bonus in their whole career.
" You guys, " Akira wanted to strangle these idiots for the one hundredth time today. Can't these people have a little trust in him?
Just as Akira was about to lose it, the Guild door was suddenly kicked open. And this time the door couldn't handle the kick and flew away.
" Hey, president, I'm back, " Gildarts in his full glory said with excitement.
" Gildarts " everyone shouted as they cheered for their strongest arrival.
" Gildarts you bastard, how many times do I have to tell you to not break the front door every time you come back? " Makarov roared with anger as he scolded Gildarts.
" Hahaha sorry about that, president. Anyway, hey guys, it's been a while, " Gildarts said as he began to walk inside. He completely ignored Makarov's sermon as he was used to it.
" You bastard. " Makarov felt his blood pressure skyrocket as he looked at Gildarts, who had no remorse for his actions.
"Haha, I see we have got some new faces, " Gildarts said as he looked at Akira and Sera. Especially Sera. Since Sera was in her human form, Gildarts couldn't help but gaze at her in a daze. She was that pretty after all.
Sensing Gildarts, Sera had a frown on her face. She didn't like the look Gidart was giving her.
Akira also frowned as he felt Sera's discomfort. He also didn't like the look Gildarts was giving his adopted mother. And with him being in a bad mood due to everyone's teasing, Akira did something he wouldn't do normally.
"Hey, you are Gildarts, right? I heard you are the strongest, so why don't we have a duel to see how strong you truly are? " Akira said, provoking Gildarts.
"Hey, Akira. That's no way to… " Sera frowned at his words and was about to admonish him for his rude words. But she was interrupted by Gildarts.
"Oh, now that's interesting. Sure, why not? It's been a while since I dueled someone, " Gildarts said with a smile. For a moment he actually felt a faint danger from Akira. This made him very excited. It's not every day he gets to meet such an interesting opponent.
