Chapter 22: Chapter [22]
With Kaito's departure, Rias and Sona remained in the room, staring at the fallen angel wounded on the floor. Dohnaseek groaned in pain, his body covered in cuts and blood, while he tried to regain some semblance of dignity.
Rias crossed her arms, observing Dohnaseek with coldness. "Sona, do you know how to torture to extract answers?" she asked, her voice laden with seriousness.
Dohnaseek, hearing the word "torture," felt a chill run down his spine. His eyes widened in fear, the pain in his body seeming insignificant compared to the prospect of being subjected to torture. He tried to move, but the magical roots still binding him held him firmly in place.
Sona shook her head, her expression serious and calm. "No, Rias. I have no experience in that sort of thing."
"We can call Grayfia. She can show us how it's done."
Dohnaseek felt his stomach turn. The mention of Grayfia, Sirzechs Lucifer's Queen, and her reputation as an implacable torturer, heightened his despair even more.
Sona frowned, considering Rias's proposal. "I prefer to handle this ourselves, Rias. This is our territory, and it's our responsibility to deal with it. But, as it's the first time, I think it would be wise to call Grayfia to guide us."
Rias nodded, satisfied with the response. "I'll call Grayfia and Akeno too. She should learn how to handle situations like this."
Sona picked up her cell phone and began dialing quickly. "I'll call Tsubaki. She should be here to learn as well."
While Sona was busy on the phone, Rias prepared to invoke communication magic to summon Grayfia. She walked to an open space in the room and extended her right hand. With her eyes closed and her breathing controlled, she began to murmur words in an ancient demonic language, channeling her magical energy.
"Servant of Gremory, I summon you, Grayfia Lucifuge," Rias intoned, her voice firm and full of authority.
A complex magic circle appeared in the palm of Rias's hand, glowing with intense red light. The runes and symbols engraved in the circle pulsed with energy, responding to Rias's command. Within seconds, the light intensified, projecting a holographic image of Grayfia above the circle.
"Rias," greeted Grayfia.
"What can I do for you?"
"We urgently need your help. We have a wounded fallen angel here, Dohnaseek. He attacked my pawn, Kaito, and we need to interrogate him to obtain information about the fallen angels' plans."
Grayfia nodded, her expression serious and professional. "I understand the situation. I will be there shortly. Prepare an appropriate room for the interrogation and ensure he cannot escape."
Rias looked at Sona, who was still on the phone with Tsubaki, and then returned her attention to Grayfia. "Thank you for coming, Grayfia. We will be ready for your arrival."
Grayfia gave a slight nod before the holographic image disappeared, the light from the communication circle gradually dissipating until the room was again lit only by the ambient light.
Rias closed her hand, making the magic circle disappear completely. She turned to Sona, who was still on the phone, and then looked at Dohnaseek, who still groaned on the floor, his expression a mixture of pain and fear. She knew that Grayfia, with her experience and authority, would extract the necessary information from that fallen angel.
"You have no idea what's coming," Rias murmured, her voice cold and implacable.
Hyoudou Residence
Kaito was lying in his bed, the room bathed in a soft twilight, illuminated only by the dim light of the bedside lamp. He looked at the ceiling, trying to calm the thoughts swirling in his mind after the tumultuous day. He felt the need to distract himself and decided to pick up his phone to exchange messages with Hiro.
He unlocked the phone and opened the messaging app, starting to type.
Kaito: Hey, Hiro. How's it going?
After a few seconds, the phone vibrated with Hiro's response.
Hiro: Hey, Kaito! I'm good. And you? How was the rest of your day?
Kaito smiled slightly, appreciating Hiro's friendship. He began to type a response.
Kaito: It was intense. A lot of things happened. But I'm fine. And you? How was it after we split?
Hiro: Nothing special. Just been thinking about the outing tomorrow. Still can't believe we're going out with Yumi and Ami.
Kaito chuckled softly, feeling a bit more relaxed.
Kaito: Yeah, it will be interesting. But we need to make sure it's fun for everyone. And no drama, okay?
Hiro: For sure. I just hope they're not just curious about you. That would be lame.
Kaito reflected for a moment before responding.
Kaito: Even if they are, let's just enjoy the moment. Who knows, we might end up having fun.
Hiro took a bit longer to respond, but when he did, his message had a lighter tone.
Hiro: You're right, Kaito. Let's have fun and see what happens. Do you have any plans for tomorrow?
Kaito thought for a moment, trying to imagine what they could do.
Kaito: How about we start with a walk in the park? Then we can go to the arcade and maybe have dinner somewhere nice.
Hiro: Sounds like a great idea! I'll talk to them and confirm. It's going to be fun, man.
Kaito felt relieved to see Hiro's positive response. He was looking forward to the outing but knew he needed to mentally prepare to handle any situation that might arise.
Kaito: All set then. I'll rest now. See you tomorrow, Hiro.
Hiro: See you tomorrow, Kaito. Good night!
Kaito turned off the phone and placed it on the nightstand. He felt a wave of fatigue wash over his body but at the same time, a slight anxiety for the next day. He closed his eyes, trying to push away disturbing thoughts and focus on the good things to come.
As he settled into bed, Kaito allowed himself to relax, letting himself be carried away by the soft sound of the night breeze coming through the slightly open window. Soon, he drifted into sleep, hopeful that the next day would bring new experiences and perhaps a bit of fun to lighten the weight of his recent worries.
Nanami's House
The soft moonlight filtered through the windows of Nanami's room, casting delicate shadows on the walls. The atmosphere was calm, almost serene. Nanami was lying in her bed, wrapped in soft blankets, with a calm expression on her face as she slept deeply.
The figure of Akeno emerged from the shadows of the room, moving silently to the edge of Nanami's bed. Akeno sat down next to the bed, her eyes observing the sleeping girl with a mix of curiosity and determination.
With gentle movements, Akeno extended her hand and began to stroke Nanami's hair, feeling the soft texture between her fingers. Her touches were delicate, almost affectionate, as she murmured softly to herself.
"Kaito will be happy knowing you'll never bother him again," Akeno said, her voice low and almost whispering.
Akeno continued to stroke Nanami's hair, focusing on her task. She closed her eyes for a moment, channeling her magical energy. Her hands began to glow slightly with a soft, warm light as she delved into Nanami's memories, restructuring and manipulating them carefully.
The magical energy flowed from her hands into Nanami's mind, altering her memories and feelings. Akeno ensured that Nanami would never again feel the urge to approach Kaito and Hiro, guaranteeing their peace.
While she worked, Akeno's phone vibrated softly in her pocket. She paused for a moment, pulling out the device and seeing that it was a call from Rias. Akeno answered, keeping her voice low so as not to wake Nanami.
"Rias?" said Akeno, her voice soft.
"Akeno, I need you at the mansion now. We have an urgent situation, and your presence is necessary," Rias replied, her voice laden with seriousness.
Akeno nodded, though Rias couldn't see her. "I'm on my way. I'll finish here and be there soon."
After hanging up the phone, Akeno turned her attention back to Nanami one last time. She gently caressed the girl's sleeping face, ensuring the spell was complete.
"Sleep well, Nanami," Akeno murmured, rising silently from the bed.
Akeno left Nanami's room, leaving her sleeping deeply and with no knowledge of the changes that had occurred in her mind. Nanami would never again feel the urge to approach Kaito and Hiro, ensuring their lives continued in peace.
