DxD: I Steal Luck

Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Kiba Yuuto's Attack?

"Hmm?"

As Blake walked away from the kendo club and neared the school gate, he immediately noticed the masked figure leaning against the wall. His brows furrowed.

"So you've finally arrived. I've been waiting for you," the masked figure said as he stepped forward, gripping the knight sword in his hands. His tone was icy, as if he intended to kill Blake.

However, there was something off about his voice, as if he was trying to hide something. Furthermore, Blake couldn't sense any malice or killing intent from him.

"Sia, scan his information."

Blake's crystal-blue eyes flickered slightly. While unfastening his sword bag, he gave instructions to Sia.

"Got it, Blake~"

As Sia's playful voice faded, the masked figure's information appeared before Blake.

"Kiba Yuuto, huh? What's with this getup?"

Clang!

Narrowing his eyes as he watched Kiba Yuuto approach, Blake didn't bother to speak further. With a swift motion, he drew his sword, Frost Whisper, creating a gust of wind that dispersed the dust around him.

Tap—!

The moment Blake unsheathed his sword, Kiba Yuuto finally made his move. Like a breeze, he dashed toward Blake, his form ghost-like and unpredictable, his speed astonishing.

Kiba's strengths lay in his incredible speed and his refined swordsmanship, aside from the power of his Sword Birth Sacred Gear.

As for raw strength, he was much weaker than the power-type devil Blake had faced the previous day. Confident that frost Whisper wouldn't be destroyed by brute force, Blake decided to draw his sword. Having practiced swordsmanship for over a decade, he didn't believe Kiba Yuuto could surpass him in skill.

In the blink of an eye, Kiba closed in and thrust his first strike, aiming for Blake's left shoulder.

Ding—!

The strike didn't faze Blake. Using his Perception Distortion ability, he perceived Kiba's speed as significantly reduced, making his movements appear sluggish. With a simple counter, Blake redirected the thrust away from his shoulder, letting it graze past harmlessly.

As sparks and a piercing metallic screech erupted, Blake capitalized on the momentum. He slid Frost Whisper along Kiba's blade, aiming a devastating slash at his hand.

This strike would undoubtedly sever a good portion of Kiba's hand if it landed.

Even though Blake had already guessed Kiba's identity and intentions, he didn't hold back. Testing someone came with consequences, even if that person was pitiful. Such was Blake's principle: Do not offend me, and I will not offend you; offend me, and I will strike back.

"—!"

Sensing the ruthlessness of Blake's attack, Kiba's pupils constricted. With a flash of magic in his left hand, a small black dagger materialized, which he used to block the incoming strike.

Ding—!

The next moment, Frost Whisper clashed with the black dagger, producing a crisp metallic sound. However, the hurried defense failed to completely absorb the force, and Kiba was knocked back several steps.

Whoosh—!

Not giving Kiba Yuuto a chance to recover, Blake suddenly produced a pitch-black sphere the size of half a palm. As he leaped backward, he hurled it toward Kiba Yuuto at full force.

"Not good—!"

Startled by the rapid succession of events, Kiba Yuuto found himself overwhelmed. Having just been forced back, he couldn't fully utilize his speed and had no way to dodge the mysterious sphere thrown by Blake.

"I've got no choice!"

Gritting his teeth under his mask, Kiba Yuuto grimaced and threw the black dagger to intercept the sphere. In his mind, it was probably some kind of explosive. If it detonated at close range, he'd definitely get injured, but at a slight distance, he might just get away with minor embarrassment.

Pfft—!

Bang—!

In the next instant, the black dagger pierced the sphere, causing it to "explode." However, instead of a bomb, it merely produced the sound of a balloon popping.

What the…? I thought it was—

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

Before Kiba could finish his thought, a vile stench filled the air, turning his face pale. He collapsed on the ground, rolling his eyes and foaming at the mouth from the unbearable odor.

"Hmph, you think you can escape punishment so easily? Death may be spared, but you're not getting away unscathed."

Having already fled the range of the stench bomb's explosion, Blake glanced at the unconscious Kiba Yuuto on the ground and muttered with a pout.

The black ball earlier was a "10x Concentrated Stench Bomb" that he had drawn in a lottery at the cost of 30 Luck Points. At the time, he had scorned it as a useless prize. Who would have thought its potency would be so powerful, capable of knocking someone like Kiba Yuuto unconscious with just the smell?

Now, Blake fully believed the adage, "What the system provides are always premium."
