Chapter 117: Chapter 117: A Chance Encounter with the Blonde Saintess (Bonus chapter 1)
"Cough, cough… Kanna, from now on, just call me Big Brother Blake."
Blake reassured himself internally—he was not weird for liking cute things. He just had a soft spot for them in a totally normal way. Right?
"I understand, Big Brother Blake."
Kanna's soft, innocent voice carried a newfound familiarity, making Blake momentarily flustered.
To avoid getting caught up in his thoughts, he quickly changed the subject.
"Kanna, do you remember anything before being summoned here?"
Kanna pressed a tiny finger to her lips, tilting her head in thought. "Hmm… I was playing alone when some information popped into my mind. It seemed interesting, so I agreed. Then more information came in, and suddenly—I was here."
Blake exhaled in relief.
It seemed that the system's lottery didn't just drag characters into this world against their will. Summoning required consent, and the summoned beings retained their free will.
"Do you… want to go back?" Blake asked, his voice gentle.
Kanna shook her head, her expression blank yet certain.
"My world is so boring. I wandered alone, and sometimes people would even try to hunt me. I don't want to go back. The only person I'd worry about is Lord Tohru… but Lord Tohru is strong. She'll be fine."
"Tohru, huh…"
Blake recalled her from his past life's memories. A powerful dragon, fiercely loyal, and… something about her tail being used for cooking? That part was better left forgotten.
But between Kanna and Tohru, he'd always preferred Kanna's quiet charm.
"Well, if we ever get the chance, let's visit your world sometime. You can introduce me to Tohru then."
He ruffled Kanna's silver hair, his voice warm.
Kanna's blue eyes flickered as a tiny smile formed on her lips.
For her, humans had always viewed dragons with fear or hostility. But Blake wasn't afraid of her. He accepted her, and his words were genuine—she could feel it through their contract.
A rare warmth settled in Kanna's heart.
"By the way, Kanna, do you know anything about this world?"
Unlike some other dragons, Kanna seemed to have adapted quickly.
"I do! When I was summoned, I gained lots of modern knowledge. This world is so much fun!"
Blake smiled. "That makes things easier, then. Let's get some rest for now."
"Mm."
Without hesitation, Kanna climbed onto the bed, curling up comfortably.
Having a tiny dragon companion around felt oddly peaceful.
---
A Week Later
Blake quickly fell into a routine:
Classes.
Training.
Building connections in the Occult Research Club.
Late-night gaming sessions with Koneko.
Sleeping with Kanna curled up beside him like a cat.
Interestingly, Kanna never showed herself at the club. She must have sensed the tension between dragons and devils and decided to avoid unnecessary drama.
The biggest surprise, however, was the sudden disappearance of Issei Hyoudou.
Rumors floated around that a week ago, he had a very bad experience and wasn't acting like his usual self. Now he refused to leave his house.
Blake had to admit—he was curious. The guy had run into trouble with some shady people, and now he didn't even want to go outside?
But Blake had more important things to focus on.
---
"Big Brother, I want ice cream."
A soft cyan glow flickered, and Kanna appeared beside Blake, holding his hand expectantly.
Blake had already placed a perception barrier around them, ensuring that no one would question the sudden arrival of a gothic-lolita dragon girl.
"Alright."
Patting her head, he led her toward the main street.
But, of course, he had another reason for being here.
A certain blonde nun should be wandering these streets soon.
And just as he expected—
A pure, gentle voice reached his ears.
Blake's eyes lit up as he turned toward the source.
Standing under the sunlight was a girl with golden hair, her clear green eyes wide with confusion. She wore a nun's habit, looking both innocent and lost.
"As expected. When luck is on your side, things just fall into place."
With Kanna's tiny hand still in his grasp, Blake stepped forward.
He had to admit—Asia Argento had a striking presence. Her golden locks shimmered in the light, and her eyes reflected nothing but kindness. For a moment, Blake was actually a little dazed.
But that didn't stop him from greeting her in fluent English.
"You look like you need some help. Are you lost?"
Asia blinked, stunned. Then, suddenly, her face brightened like the sun.
"Ah! You… You speak English?"
After days of struggling with the language barrier, Asia had nearly lost hope. But now?
"Thank you, Lord! You haven't abandoned me!"
She clasped her hands in front of her chest, her relief obvious.
Blake chuckled. "You're looking for the church, right?"
"Yes! I—I got a little lost, and I couldn't communicate with anyone… If you could just point me in the right direction—"
Before Blake could respond, a tiny voice interrupted.
"Big Brother, I want ice cream."
Kanna's soft tone was heavier than before.
Blake, focused on Asia, didn't catch the subtle shift in her expression.
But if he had looked down, he would have noticed something unusual.
Kanna, who rarely showed emotions, looked… uncomfortable.
Her cyan eyes flickered strangely as she stared at Asia.
Was it dislike?
Was it jealousy?
Whatever it was… Kanna didn't seem to approve.
And Blake had no idea.
