Dungeon Raider System

Chapter 295 Emergency meeting

It was a regular day of hard work at the Dungeon Raiders headquarters. Medusa, as usual kept herself busy in her project and Luna remained in her room probably submerged in her own research. The Armstrong men had just come back with another load of orichalcum ore and were resting on the break room when Uriel showed up with a pretty woman wearing a cowboy hat and went directly upstairs.

"Tsk! I can't believe that guy is always surrounded with pretty girls." One of them clicked his tongue in envy. Rumors started going around about Uriel ever since he was tied and taken upstairs by his friends, but none of them knew exactly what had transpired.

Some pitied them, others envied him, but the general consensus was that the only reason why he was allowed to come and go as he pleased was because he was the cleaning staff. He didn't show any aptitude for mining during their trip to the dungeon and he was also probably weak.

The only reason they found why he would be allowed to go as he pleased was that he was either well connected or he worked in cleaning, which one of them confirmed after finding a picture of him in the library. It was the picture Mark took of him after humiliating him.

"Did you know he used to date Miss Celes?" Another member of the Armstrong commented.

"No way! That wimp!? How can someone be so lucky!?"

"Hey, you two! Stop chit chatting, the boss called us for an emergency meeting. Everyone must attend." Their leader said as he barged in the break room.

Every employee received a notification in their cellphone warning them about the emergency meeting about to take place, but no one knew the reason behind it. In fact, the only one who knew was Uriel who was still upstairs explaining the situation to Nika.

"I don't get it, I mean, it's weird but I don't see how is this our problem. In fact, I don't see how a few soldiers getting lost is bad for us, if anything it's a blessing. Besides, I don't like that woman." Said Nika referring to Charlie who was waiting in the next room.

"The thing is," Uriel hesitated for a moment before speaking the words in front of Luna. "Cassandra is in that group."

"Is that all? Uhm, she can take care of herself. Now, excuse me." Luna said as she tried to go back to her room, but she stopped to listen when Uriel continued speaking.

"This is the thing, Miss Charlie received a letter from the Cryptid hunting agency asking for help in rescuing a small infantry unit commanded by Heavenly sword. It may not seem that odd, but they know there's a shortage of rangers and they still asked for help."

"So?" Nika was still disinterested, but she still called for an emergency meeting like Uriel asked.

"This is serious, Nika. If someone like Luna's sister got lost it means it's dangerous to go to the dungeon."

"Precisely. We need to find out what happened to her and also make sure to extract as much orichalcum as we can before it's too late." The reason why Uriel was taking it so seriously wasn't just because Cassandra was lost, but because he suspected what could be behind her disappearance: the horror level nosferatu.

If Cassandra got killed and turned into a nosferatu, she would become a threat as big as the vampire itself.

"I can't go, I need to finish the vehicle. Besides, I... I'm supposed to be dead." Medusa said apologetically. Continue your journey with My Virtual Library Empire

As soon as all the employees were gathered Janett rushed upstairs to notify them and Charlie gaped at the sight of over twenty employees all dressed in uniform and ready to be mobilized immediately. It was a small company, but they were fully geared and looked as disciplined as the Mapple corporation bodyguards.

"How is this possible? I didn't know you had this kind of connection. Hey, can you introduce Raider to me? I've heard a lot of rumors about him."

"Not a chance, sorry." Uriel quickly rejected.

Since Uriel didn't like to be in the spotlight, he asked Nika to direct the company towards the dungeon and make what might be the last mining trip for a while. This allowed Uriel to form his own search party comprised of Charlie, Luna and himself.

Sam would have been a great asset, but he spent most of his days watching the horizon from the Celes tower in search for any clues of his cryptid wife and Uriel didn't want to bother him.

The miners weren't happy about being forced to go back into the mine after finishing a shift, but Nika promised a huge bonus to them which helped a lot with their mood but nothing changed the fact that they were too many people for the small amount of vehicles they possessed. However, that was a problem for Nika to solve.

Charlie, Luna and Uriel decided it was best if they went on foot to avoid drawing attention to themselves or risking an expensive vehicle since they would be the ones taking the biggest risk.

Medusa was left alone with Jannet in the headquarters. Now that everyone was outside, the only sound that could be heard was that of Medusa hitting an alloy sheet. She was in the process of embedding a thin orichalcum thread on the metal sheet and she needed to be as delicate as a surgeon but instead of a scalpel she brandished a heavy one handed orichalcum hammer.

She imbued all of her frustration about being left behind on her work, the heat of the forge and the difficult task caused her to sweat and she unbuttoned the top of her overall before wiping her forehead.

She couldn't go, but that didn't mean she couldn't help in some way. That's all she wanted, to be helpful and take care of her friends even if she couldn't join them in their mission.
