Dungeon Raider System

Chapter 239 Setting up the mining operation Part 3

The day before the mining operation started a huge crowd appeared in front of the Cryptid hunting agency. They were mostly unemployed hunters looking for a job at the newly founded Dungeon Raiders company which was as unexpected as it was fortunate for everyone, except for Nika who resented spending so much time thinking on ways to hire people when it wasn't needed.

"These guys, they're so desperate." A female huntress ssaid casually.

"What gives you the right to mock them when we were in their same situation a few days ago?" Phlox scolded her air headed friend with a scowl.

"I know, but look at them!" Lizzy Dragonfang pointed towards a random guy, who just happened to be Uriel trying to make his way past the crowd.

Because of his reluctance to give up on his studies, he had been juggling in between Fermi's workshop, Lamar's laboratory and the Dungeon Raiders headquarters which caused him to remain awake way longer than even an ascended should. He looked tired and his deep eyes told the tale of someone who just wanted to get some sleep, though Dragonfang interpreted it as him being down on his luck.

"Sage, what are you doing here?"

"Work..." He muttered, his voice muffled by the unruly crowd of hunters.

"I see, life is hard even when you're a student."

"What would you know, you were raised with a silver spoon." Phlox scoffed.

"Don't mind her, she's moody because we lost our ATV." Dragonfang giggled.

"Dang it!" Uriel clicked his tongue. He counted on them having their own means of transportation. Now that they don't have their vehicle, their loading capacity would be much lesser.

"Don't worry about that, we've been doing fine. By the way, do you want me to introduce you to the boss? I personally know her, maybe I could help you land a job in the company too."

"Huh?" Uriel didn't understand what did she mean by that. He was aware that they were hiring them both, but how can she not know he was the also a part of the Dungeon Raiders company and then it dawned on him. The reason why they didn't know he was the CEO of the company was because, so far all of his contributions towards the company had been behind a desk pushing papers.

"You don't want to know her? She's beautiful, not as much as me but..."

"Pffft! She's a ten and you're a six on your best day." Phlox laughed heartily.

"I would appreciate it if you introduced me to Ni... Miss Nika."

"Nika? Is that her name?"

"Didn't you say you knew her personally?" Uriel looked at the former lieutenant with suspicion.

"Oh! Yes, yes, I just... we're not at the first name basis yet." Dragonfang said blushingly.

It wasn't long until Nika herself arrived at the scene along with Samuel Song, Sam's father.

"Thank you, Mister Song for all you've done for us." She said as she shook his hand with a dazzling smile.

"It's not problem at all, you've not only helped us secure the orichalcum vein, you're also taking good care of my worthless son," Samuel Song replied, then he turned towards the crowd and spoke to them with a stern voice. "I know you have all gathered here looking for a job in the new enterprise.

The nature of this mission is secret and I can't disclose any information, but Miss Nika Garcia will be able to explain some details to the hunting parties than want to participate."

"Ahem, you heard him. Send the party leaders inside and I'll fill you in, provided you sign a non disclosure agreement. If you still want to participate after you hear me, then I'll grant you an interview with the manager."

Although they didn't know what was going on, the crowd erupted into cheers as though they won the lottery. The reason for that was that if the a government agency was backing up the new company, it meant there was a lot of money involved.

After that, the party leaders went inside and the crowd was disbanded, leaving only three parties: The Armstrongs, the second year students and Miss Dragonfang's party.

"Don't worry Sage, I'll tell them you're with me and they'll take you with us." Miss Dragonfang reassured him, though all Uriel could think now was how professional looked when speaking to the crowd tot he point he had trouble assimilating it was the same obnoxious girl who lived with him.

"Thanks, I'll take my leave now." Uriel politely replied and then headed back towards the headquarters where Medusa was waiting.

"Why did you come back so soon? Did you encounter any troubles?"

"Not really, but there was nothing for me to do. Can you believe Miss Dragonfang offered to introduce me to Nika and help me land a job in our company?"

"Sounds like the Lizzy we know." Medusa giggled.

"Lizzy? Do you keep in touch with everyone we know?"

"Can you blame me? I can only go out wearing that annoying soldering mask and I don' have that many friends I trust enough to not pass on any information to the Mapple corp."

They spent the rest of the day finishing all the preparations, most of the equipment they bought was already delivered to them but there were a few key pieces that somehow got 'delayed' which made them suspect the involvement of the other factions. Something like that would have been a huge hindrance for their plans if not for the involvement of the Cryptid hunting agency.

Now, instead of tagging along with the Mapple corporation, they were going to hire even more hunters and divide them into fighters and miners.

The fighters job would be to clear the way and set some defenses up on the way towards the dungeon, that team would be lead by Sam and in turn, Uriel would be leading the miners who would be departing twelve hours after the fighters after the way was cleared by them.
