Chapter 238 Setting up the mining operation Part 2

"Alright, how difficult can this be?" Uriel sat down in his desk with the folder in front of him. He didn't know the first thing about the legalities and the vocabulary used was way too technical for him, but when he got to the part about numbers his interest was piqued.

"What the hell is an extruder and why do we need three of them?"

"Those are pretty important for processing the orichalcum ore, they can channel flux energy into the ore to melt it but it takes a long time."

"We don't need any of those, actually, discard anything related to the processing part. We can figure that out later, our sole focus here is to extract the ore."

"But if we don't process it we won't have any means to sell it. Raw orichalcum is worthless." Nika argued.

"It doesn't matter, we'll always be able to sell it later but we can only sell what we extract. What if something happens and we can't extract any ores? We'll have three useless pieces of equipment."

"I can't see I disagree, but extruders are really cool. Besides, it takes so long to melt orichalcum, if we don't have at least one we'll fall behind in the processing." Medusa argued.

"Uhm, I don't know about orichalcum, but if we think of the company as a living being, I think it's important to keep balance. The extraction process is important, but if our goal is to make money, we can't dismiss any part of the process.

Security, extraction, transportation, refining and maybe crafting." Oddly enough Luna made her point clear and the allegory between the company and a living being worked surprisingly well.

"You're right, but I still don't see why would we need three extruders, one will have to do for the time being. We don't have to worry about security, the reason why I wanted to get everything sorted before the other factions was to tag along with them and save money on security."

"Always a cheapskate." Medusa giggled.

"About transport, I think a single ATV should be enough. Orichalcum is heavy but it doesn't take much space." Nika pointed out.

"Agreed, we also need a custom made pushcart for the jaguar spirit and at least two tier 3 batteries to feed the figurine. It will increase our moving speed while inside the dungeon, it can fight against cryptids and it'll be able to haul the ore out of the dungeon."

"You really love your pet." Nika said mockingly.

"For crying out loud, it's not a pet."

"Now we need to talk about employees. Sam is currently out hunting with his classmates, but he sent the files of the applicants." Nika handed Uriel a thin folder that contained all the information about those who wanted to join their company.

"Is it my idea or all the applicants are..."

"That idiot! I bet he picked only hot women!" Medusa said with a deep frown.

"No, these are all hunting parties. I think it's a great idea to hire hunting parties instead of individuals, they already know how to work together and their teams should be balanced." Uriel said while turning the pages.

"I don't believe for a second that he took his job seriously, something is off." Medusa said while checking on the list of hunting parties.

"He's not the same perverted kid we met, he's now a married man," Uriel chuckled. "hey, did you know he hired Miss Dragonfang and Phlox?"

"No way! He's crazy!" Medusa gasped.

"What? Why?"

"Haven't you heard? They all say Miss Dragonfang is cursed. Whenever she joins an incursion, things go south."

"Yeah, because our incursions had been such a stroll in the park."

"Alright, If everything goes well, we'll be able to finish the preparations before the Mapple corp. heads into the dungeon. Now we just have to decide who goes and who stays."

"I need to go to be able to hold the summon of the jaguar spirit. I don't know if there's a distance limit or something, but whenever I'm too far away from it I feel our bond weakening."

"I can't go even if I wanted to." Medusa sighed.

"I will, uhm, stay with you."

"Luna! You're like the sister I always wanted! We'll have so much fun together."

"On second thought..."

After a little bit of discussion it was decided that Sam and Uriel would be the only founding members to go back inside the dungeon. Uriel because he wanted to investigate the place further and Sam because he obviously wanted to be reunited with his cryptid wife.

When the weekend came to an end, Sam finally came back from his incursion. He complained a lot about having Charlie as his instructor because her clothes were too revealing and she was too flirty, but his complains fell mostly on deaf ears.

Uriel left for college again, leaving the endless stream of applicants for Sam to take care of. The interviewing process was easy, but very time consuming, especially since all the interviews needed to be conducted downtown to prevent strangers from knowing the location of their headquarters.

In the end, he hired three hunting parties. The first one was Miss Dragonfang's since they already knew her and even if the rumors about her bad luck were true, choosing her was a given since they trusted her. Besides, Phlox was a really capable engineer who built her own recycler and Dragonfang was a skilled fighter which made them a nice fit for their company.

The next party Sam picked was comprised of mostly rowdy men with physical enhancement traits. He picked them because they looked strong enough to mine the orichalcum and he knew them from the Cryptid hunting agency. They were among the many hunters who were left without a job after the Mapple corporation bought all the tickets for the lost city and Sam wanted to help them.

The last party he chose was neither from the Cryptid hunting agency nor did he knew them from before, the only reason why he chose them was because they possessed their own vehicle, which would make everything a lot easier for them.
