Chapter 5: Chapter 5. Dreams and Reality
As Kahn woke from sleep, a thought lingered in his mind.
"I dreamed of that person again last night."
He rubbed his temples, trying to recall the face from his dream, but it was as elusive as ever. For several nights now, he had dreamt of a woman—a mysterious figure with whom he shared a deep connection. In the dream, they were married, their lives intertwined in blissful harmony. Yet, despite how vivid the emotions were, the woman's face remained a blur.
Kahn could only remember that she was beautiful and possessed the same cool elegance as Vados. She was even similar in height.
"Could it really be Vados?" Kahn thought, shaking his head at the absurdity. The notion that his real wife was the woman in his dreams seemed too far-fetched. He had been having these dreams long before he ever met Vados, so the idea of such a coincidence seemed impossible.
"No, I can't keep dreaming about this woman. It's disrespectful to my wife."
Though the dream felt so real, Kahn decided he needed to put an end to it. Marrying someone else, even in a dream, felt like a betrayal of the bond he shared with Vados.
As he came back to his senses, he noticed that Vados was no longer in the room.
The door creaked open, and Vados entered, her presence instantly commanding his attention.
Today, she wore a simple white T-shirt and shorts, her slender figure still captivating.
"Husband, you're such a sleepyhead! I've already made breakfast. Get up and eat," Vados said playfully, her tone was affectionate. She spoke to him as though they had been together for years, not just three days.
Kahn smiled awkwardly, still a little dazed. "Alright, I'm coming."
---
After washing up, Kahn was stunned as he sat at the breakfast table, which was laden with food.
Sensing his surprise, Vados explained with a gentle smile, "I noticed how much you and Goku ate yesterday, so I figured your appetite might be quite large. I prepared enough just in case, but if it's too much, I'll make less tomorrow."
In truth, Vados knew exactly how much Kahn could eat, having seen it in her precognitive dream. But she explained it simply to avoid suspicion.
"No, this is perfect. Thank you, it must have been a lot of work."
Kahn's heart warmed. Vados was remarkably attentive, picking up on something as simple as his appetite after just one day. She was truly a kind and thoughtful partner.
---
After breakfast, Kahn turned to Vados. "You've worked hard this morning. Why don't you rest for a while? I'm going to practice in the woods, and I'll come back soon."
Although his system had been activated, Kahn wasn't about to abandon his daily training. It was a habit he had maintained for the last 20 years, and changing it was out of the question.
Vados, however, shook her head. "I'm not tired, husband. I'd like to watch you practice, if that's alright?"
Caught off guard, Kahn hesitated but eventually nodded. "Sure, that's fine."
Behind their house was a small hill and forest, a peaceful spot where Kahn often trained. Today, with his newfound strength from the system, his movements were sharper, his punches and kicks more powerful than ever before.
Vados, observing from the side, couldn't help but notice the sudden improvement in Kahn's physique.
"Strange," she thought. "His body seems stronger overnight."
She pondered whether her angelic nature might have inadvertently influenced him. Despite her best efforts to suppress her Angel powers during their wedding night, it seemed some of her energy had still affected Kahn.
"Perhaps it's because of my Angel physique," Vados mused. But it might be side effect, and for now, it seemed to have only strengthened him.
---
As Kahn practiced, the air vibrated with the force of his strikes, sending shockwaves that snapped tree trunks in half. But despite the intensity of his workout, Vados suddenly interrupted.
"Husband, it seems like the gains from this type of practice are minimal. Why not focus on physical training instead?"
Kahn stopped mid-punch, turning to her in surprise. "You know about training?"
Vados smiled. "I've read a bit about it in books."
Kahn thought for a moment before nodding. "That makes sense. But physical training requires certain resources, like a gravity training room, and I don't exactly have the money for that."
He sighed. Although he wanted to increase his training intensity, his financial limitations made it difficult.
"Go on back to the house and rest, honey. I'm going to visit Goku and see if we can train together," Kahn said. Since he couldn't afford advanced equipment, sparring with Goku seemed like the best alternative.
---
Kahn soon headed off to Goku's house on Mount Paozu, while Vados returned to their home. Though she stayed behind, Vados had her ways of keeping an eye on Kahn. With a wave of her hand, her Angel's staff appeared, casting a light screen that showed the ongoing events at Goku's home.
Through the screen, she watched as Kahn and Goku began sparring, their movements a blur as the sound of their blows echoed across the forest.
As Vados watched, a knock on the door broke her concentration.
"Come in," she called out softly, turning toward the entrance.
The door opened, and a familiar figure stepped inside.
"Sister Vados, I heard you've married a human. I must admit, I'm quite surprised," said a voice that was both amused and intrigued.
Standing before her was none other than Whis, the Angel of Universe 7.
