Chapter 2: chapter 2. Vados' Bold Decision
For her blind date with Kahn, Vados had gone to great lengths to conceal her true identity. She abandoned her traditional Angelic attire and even transformed her blue-green skin to resemble that of a human. Today, she wanted to appear as an ordinary woman, not the Angel of Universe 6.
"Since you've made your decision, I won't say anything more. I wish you happiness," the Grand Priest said calmly.
With those words, a purple vortex appeared behind him, and he vanished into it, leaving Vados alone. A brief softness flickered in Vados' purple eyes before she composed herself. With a gentle sigh, she transported herself to the restaurant where her blind date, arranged by Chichi, awaited.
After a quick adjustment of her appearance, Vados took a deep breath and stepped gracefully into the restaurant. Although it wasn't peak dining time, the restaurant was still lively. The moment she entered, she became the center of attention.
Her beauty was undeniable. She exuded a dignified, elegant, and cool demeanor. Her soft smile, akin to a cherry blossom in full bloom, captivated everyone around her. Men in the restaurant were mesmerized by her presence.
Kahn, who was seated at a table with Chichi, was no exception. His eyes immediately locked onto her as she approached, his mind racing.
"Isn't this… Vados?" Kahn thought in disbelief. The woman before him looked strikingly similar to the Angel of Universe 6—except for the differences in skin tone and attire.
While Kahn remained dazed, Vados reached their table and introduced herself with a polite smile. "Hello, I'm Vados," she said, turning to Chichi. "Miss Chichi, is this Mr. Kahn?"
"Ah, yes! Yes, he is!" Chichi quickly nudged Kahn, snapping him out of his daze. "Kahn, don't just stand there. This is Vados, the blind date I set up for you."
"Huh? Oh… right," Kahn stammered, quickly standing up and offering a slight bow. "Hello, Miss Vados. I'm Kahn. Please, have a seat."
Vados smiled, amused by Kahn's flustered reaction. Her laugh was soft and melodic, disarming anyone in its presence. She took her seat gracefully.
"Kahn, Miss Vados, take your time. I'll leave you two to talk," Chichi said tactfully, sensing that her presence was no longer necessary. With a polite nod, she excused herself, leaving the pair alone.
With Chichi gone, the atmosphere grew slightly awkward. Kahn cleared his throat, attempting to ease the tension. Though the resemblance to the Angel Vados from the Dragon Ball universe was striking, he pushed the thought aside. After all, the real Vados was an Angel with divine responsibilities. It was absurd to think that an Angel would sit across from him on a blind date.
"Maybe it's just a coincidence," Kahn thought to himself.
Still, he couldn't shake the feeling. Vados, as beautiful and poised as she was, seemed out of place on a blind date. How could someone like her, with such extraordinary beauty and grace, be reduced to searching for a partner through a blind date?
As Kahn contemplated this, Vados broke the silence, her voice as soothing as a silver bell. "Mr. Kahn, do you have any requests of me?"
"Ah… well, shouldn't we get to know each other first?" Kahn replied, feeling a bit embarrassed. "Isn't it a little too soon to talk about requests?"
Vados shook her head with a gentle smile. "I don't believe those details are that important."
Unknown to Kahn, Vados already knew him well from the prophetic dreams she had experienced. His reserved, slightly awkward demeanor was exactly how he had behaved in her visions.
To Vados, Kahn's modesty and sincerity were endearing.
"Well, what about you?" Kahn asked, feeling at a loss. "Do you have any requests for me?"
Vados smiled warmly. "I'm already quite satisfied with you. I have no requests."
Kahn blinked, taken aback by her response. He pinched his thigh under the table, and the sharp pain reminded him that this was real.
"This… doesn't seem real," Kahn thought. A woman like her, without any demands or expectations? If he hadn't experienced it himself, he wouldn't have believed it.
"Mr. Kahn, what about your request?" Vados pressed gently.
"My request is simple," Kahn began cautiously. "I prefer not to prolong things unnecessarily. Ideally, I'd like to get married within a month."
Kahn braced himself, certain that his second request would scare Vados away. To his surprise, she smiled and responded without hesitation.
"That's no problem. If you'd like, we could marry tomorrow."
"What?!"
Kahn nearly choked, stunned by her response. The tea he had been sipping sprayed from his mouth in shock.
"Mr. Kahn! Are you all right?" Vados asked, startled by his reaction, her expression filled with concern.
"I'm fine," Kahn managed, waving her off.
But inside, he was reeling. Did she really just say we could marry tomorrow? The sheer absurdity of it was hard to believe, but here she was, offering just that.
Composing himself, Kahn decided to be honest. "Miss Vados, I should explain. While I may look decent and have a good personality, my family background is humble. I don't have parents, and I spend most of my time farming to make ends meet. I wouldn't be able to provide you with much materially. Can you accept that?"
Vados laughed softly, her voice like the sweet melody of a songbird.
"Uh… did I say something funny?" Kahn asked, confused.
Vados quickly composed herself. "No, not at all. Mr. Kahn, your honesty is refreshing, and I like that very much. What I want to say is that, since I've chosen to marry you, I don't care about your family background or material wealth."
