Chapter 11: Chapter 11. Vados Worried
Kahn's ruthless while interrogating him left him horrified
Yes.
When he heard that Planet Vegeta was destroyed, along with Bardock and Gine turning them into dust, Raditz felt nothing. To him, their deaths didn't matter; he was alive. The only thing that counted was that he was still alive.
Under Khan's gaze, Raditz forced himself to say.
"Of course, I feel sad for our parent's brother. But the dead can't come back, right?"
Kahn felt hilarious hearing what Raditz said.
Sad? Is Raditz feeling sad? Impossible.
And Kahn didn't even think death was END. In the Dragon Ball world, resurrecting someone was easy if you were strong, and there was more than one method to do it.
Instead of arguing with him, Kahn asked.
"Then answer me, why are you serving the very person who killed our parents twenty years ago? Are you even worthy to call them parents?"
Raditz shivered.
"Ka... Kahn, I didn't know anything about this before..."
"Didn't know? Okay, you know now right."
Kahn's voice turned colder.
"For our parents sake, I'll give you one last chance to live."
Raditz's eyes lit up with hope.
For him, It did not matter if he had to bow himself to Khan now; as long as he survived, there would always be chances in the future for his revenge. But to make it possible he had to survive today.
But Kahn's next words were like death sentences to him.
"You're serving Frieza right, so you must be able to get close to him. Then kill him and bring me his head. I will let you live. Otherwise, I'll personally send you to hell to meet our parents."
"And don't dream you can hide from me. As long as you are alive, no matter where you are, I'll find you. Believe me, I can do it."
Raditz felt a chill down his spine hearing him. Kill Frieza? This was a real death sentence. Now, whether by Kahn's hand or Frieza's. Kahn's words were like mocking him as if saying, You are dead either way.
But did he have a choice now?
No, he did not. He could only bite the bullet and agree, for now.
Seeing Raditz agree, Kahn held back from killing him immediately but didn't drop the issue entirely.
"And my wife was frightened by your actions just now. Apologize!"
"Yes... I'm sorry, sister-in-law. I was wrong; please forgive me," Raditz muttered, visibly reluctant to apologize to weak-looking women, but had because of Khan's overwhelming power.
Vados stayed silent, clinging to Kahn and hiding behind him as if she were afraid of him, and no one could see her expression, which was now devoid of any look of fear she had shown earlier.
"Alright, leave before I change my mind."
After sending Raditz off in his spaceship, Kahn turned to his family.
Seeing Son Goku wanted to ask something, but looked reluctant Kahn asked,
"Goku, is there something you want to say?"
Kahn could already guess what Goku wanted to ask, which is likely about Bardock and Gine.
But after a moment, Son Goku shook his head. He had already got the whole idea together about the background from the conversation between Kahn and Raditz. Learning that his parents died over two decades, he felt there was little point in asking more about them.
Living on Earth with his current family and his brother Kahn was enough for now.
But after thinking, Goku asked.
"Brother Kahn, do you think Raditz will follow what you both agreed?"
Kahn looked to the sky thoughtfully.
"Who knows? Maybe he will, or maybe he won't."
"Still, it would be better if you start training more seriously, the world will not be peaceful in the coming future.
Goku nodded solemnly. "Got it, Brother Kahn!"
---
Later that evening, back home, Vados voiced her concern to her Khan.
"Husband, I can't shake the feeling that Raditz still wants to kill you, or am I just overthinking?"
She still thinks Kahn should've killed Raditz rather than letting him go.
Kahn chuckled calmly.
"You're not overthinking; he wants to kill me and he'll come back to soon for that."
"Then why did you..."
Vados didn't understand. If Kahn knew Raditz wants to kill him, why let him go alive?
"Don't worry," Kahn reassured her.
"I have a plan. Sometimes, to catch a big fish, you need to let the small fish go and wait patiently."
Kahn knew Raditz wouldn't even attempt to assassinate Frieza. Even if he somehow did want to try, he would certainly fail; the power gap was just too vast.
Once back, Raditz would likely rally Vegeta and Nappa to return to Earth. That was almost certain.
Vados smiled, reassured. "I trust you, husband."
Later, while Kahn went to shower, Vados took out her Angel's staff and contacted her brother, the trainee Angel, Myers.
"Sister Vados? What's going on?" Myers sounded surprised.
Vados narrowed her eyes. "Myers, you're with the Galactic Patrol in the Seventh Universe, correct?"
"Yes."
"Good," Vados said. "Use your position to keep an eye on a Saiyan named Raditz. He left Earth today in a spaceship. Keep me informed of his movements."
"Saiyan Raditz?" Myers thought for a moment.
"Got it. I'll keep an eye on him."
It wasn't that Vados didn't trust Kahn. But she wanted to ensure his safety. If Raditz returned with allies stronger than Kahn, only then would she intervene.
She couldn't bear the thought of her husband being in danger.
Anyone who could pose a threat to Kahn would be dealt with. No one was an exception.
