Chapter 65: Chapter 65
Chapter 65: Tang San – I Know It's Fake, but I Have No Evidence
The night was eerily quiet.
Under the towering trees of the Star Dou Forest, a group gathered around a motionless figure.
Zhu Zhuqing, Ma Hongjun, Oscar, Dai Mubai, and Tang San formed a circle around Zhao Wuji, Ning Rongrong, and Ye Feng.
Zhao Wuji, seated cross-legged, slowly opened his eyes from meditation. Stretching his limbs, he stood up, his gaze immediately falling on Ye Feng, who was still lying unconscious on the ground.
"Ye Feng still hasn't woken up?" Zhao Wuji's voice was laced with concern.
Ning Rongrong shook her head, her brows furrowed. She had tried everything over the past half-day, yet Ye Feng remained unresponsive.
It had been half a day since Xiao Wu was taken away by the Titan Ape. Despite all her efforts, Ning Rongrong just couldn't wake Ye Feng up.
Zhao Wuji walked over and knelt beside him, placing a firm hand on Ye Feng's wrist. Closing his eyes, he carefully assessed his condition.
After a few moments, he frowned. "His internal organs are fine, just slightly shaken. But if that's the case… then why the hell isn't he awake?"
He pondered for a moment before hesitantly suggesting, "Could it be… that his brain was shaken?"
"Brain damage?!"
Oscar's eyes widened in horror. He immediately turned to Zhao Wuji with panic in his voice.
"Teacher Zhao, are you saying that Boss Ye might have… turned into an idiot?"
"Idiot?"
Ning Rongrong froze, her expression blank. Her gaze was locked onto Ye Feng's still face.
Zhao Wuji's face was grim. "I can't rule it out. There have been cases like this in the spirit master world. Some spirit masters suffer serious brain trauma, and after that… they never recover."
"WHAT?!"
Ning Rongrong's heart tightened, and her breathing became erratic.
Her hands trembled as she reached out and grabbed Ye Feng's hand, squeezing it tightly. "No… Impossible! How could Senior Brother turn into an idiot?! That's bullshit!"
Ma Hongjun and Zhu Zhuqing also looked worried, while Dai Mubai and Tang San exchanged a brief glance—one that carried an undeniable sense of satisfaction.
For some reason, both Dai Mubai and Tang San felt a twisted sense of pleasure at the thought of Ye Feng becoming useless.
Tang San, in particular, clenched his fists slightly, hiding the hint of joy in his eyes.
He knew that Xiao Wu and Ye Feng were close—too close. Every time he tried to get near Xiao Wu, Ye Feng would either interfere or stop him outright.
Now, with Ye Feng out of the way, wouldn't this be his golden opportunity?
If Ye Feng never woke up, or worse, became a fool, then Xiao Wu would eventually have to choose someone else.
That "someone else"… would be him.
Tang San's heart pounded at the thought.
"Rongrong, don't be too sad," Tang San said, stepping forward and gently patting her shoulder. His voice was soft and comforting, though there was an underlying calmness in his tone.
"This isn't over yet. There's no solid evidence proving that Ye Feng will actually become an idiot. If he were awake right now, he definitely wouldn't want you crying over him."
But Ning Rongrong wasn't even listening.
Her fingers tightened around Ye Feng's hand as she pleaded, her voice trembling, "Brother… please, wake up! It's me… Rongrong! Your junior sister! Please don't leave me like this!"
No response.
No movement.
Ye Feng remained completely still.
"Brother!"
A sudden voice cut through the silence.
Tang San, Ning Rongrong, Zhao Wuji, and the others whipped their heads around to see a familiar figure emerging from the forest.
Xiao Wu.
She was completely unharmed, and her eyes were locked onto Ye Feng's motionless body.
"Xiao Wu, you're back!" Tang San called out, a hint of relief in his voice.
"Yeah," Xiao Wu nodded.
"The Titan Ape… didn't hurt you?" Tang San asked, confused.
Xiao Wu's lips curled slightly. "What? Did you want it to?"
"Xiao Wu, don't joke like that," Tang San laughed awkwardly, scratching the back of his head.
But as his eyes drifted back to Ye Feng, that small feeling of joy flickered again.
This was his chance.
If Ye Feng died or became crippled, then Xiao Wu's future would be his for the taking.
Perhaps… that was why a part of him was secretly hoping that Ye Feng would never wake up again.
"Xiao Wu, how the hell did you escape?" Zhao Wuji asked, still wary.
"I… I don't know," Xiao Wu hesitated, then quickly continued with her pre-planned explanation.
"The Titan Ape grabbed me and ran deeper into the forest. But after a while, I suddenly heard a loud bull's roar. The Titan Ape got really nervous and threw me away."
"Bull's roar?" Zhao Wuji's brows furrowed. "What kind of bull roar could make a Titan Ape nervous?"
Xiao Wu shook her head. "I don't know. The Titan Ape roared once, knocked me unconscious, and left. When I woke up, I found myself near a bunch of unconscious spirit beasts—probably ones that the Titan Ape knocked out. Among them, there was a 10,000-year-old beast that was perfect for my spirit ring, so I took the chance and absorbed it."
"What?!"
Zhao Wuji's jaw dropped.
"Wait… that actually happened?" Ma Hongjun stared in disbelief.
Even novels wouldn't dare write something this ridiculous.
"I really thought I was going to die, but I got lucky. After absorbing my spirit ring, I hurried back to find you guys."
Oscar sighed enviously. "Xiao Wu… your luck is unreal."
"Maybe it's true what they say—surviving a disaster brings good fortune," Xiao Wu said with a smile before turning her gaze to Ye Feng. "What's wrong with my brother?"
Zhao Wuji exhaled. "Xiao Wu, don't panic… but Ye Feng has been in a coma ever since he got hit by the Titan Ape. We're worried that he might… never wake up."
"WHAT?!"
Xiao Wu's face turned pale. She rushed to Ye Feng's side, crouched down, and grabbed his hand.
"Brother! Wake up! It's me, Xiao Wu! Open your damn eyes!"
And then…
Ye Feng's eyelids twitched.
A moment later, his eyes slowly opened.
cough cough
"Brother, you're awake!" Ning Rongrong exclaimed joyfully.
Ye Feng coughed twice, his gaze meeting Ning Rongrong's.
Inwardly, he sighed.
In truth, he had never been unconscious.
He had been awake the entire time, merely pretending.
After all, no matter how much Ning Rongrong called for him, how could she wake up someone who was faking it?
The reason he stayed still was simple—he was waiting for Xiao Wu to return.
"Xiao Wu, are you okay?" Ye Feng asked.
"I'm fine," she smiled.
Tang San's heart clenched. Something about this… felt off.
He couldn't explain it, but deep down, a nagging suspicion wouldn't go away.
He had no evidence, but he just knew—Ye Feng and Xiao Wu were hiding something.
