NOVEL NEXT Chapter 132: Ignored Jade
"Come on boss! Don't bully me like that!" Whining as they walked through the streets of the Shrek City, Xie Xie had no intention of dropping it. It was a little funny but Xie Xie would never admit it.
"Sorry, sorry. Like I said, I'll pay this time to make up for it." Smiling apologetically with his hands raised, Wulin's eyes were filled with unending amusement. It was a bit mean spirited but ultimately, it wasn't harmful so why not laugh at it?
"Maybe if you stop hoarding those points of yours you would have a bit more financial freedom and wouldn't have to rely on your boss to eat." Rolling her eyes at the young dragon king, Gu Yuena scoffed audibly. She may think well of Xie Xie but she wouldn't let him know that.
"Never! What if I need them in the future?" Crossing his arms with unrelenting determination in his eyes, Xie Xie was firm in his stance. He had been taking all sorts of tasks for the Tang Sect over the years and had amassed a small fortune of points that he could use to do just about anything but he saved them with only secret technique books being an exception.
Part of it was definitely that he was a paranoid idiot who was saving them for that life changing purchase that came once in a hundred years but that wasn't all of it. In reality, Xie Xie was worried about the oncoming war. He trusted Gu Yuena to stop the war but that didn't mean he wouldn't prepare for the worst.
"Don't worry, I'll be your sugar daddy until that day comes." Laying his arm across his best friend's shoulders, Wulin smiled teasingly as Xie Xie looked at him in disgust. Shivering unreservedly, Xie Xie didn't even feel like commenting on Gu Yuena's laughter.
"Can't you call it something else! Call me your dependent or something…" Groaning as he rubbed his shoulders in an attempt to soothe his goosebumps, Xie Xie looked at Wulin oddly without fear. Shrugging his shoulders, Wulin didn't give Xie Xie the positive response he wanted.
"Alright my needy child, why don't we go find our classmates?" Walking forward Xie Xie only caught the corner of Wulin's very obvious smirk. Shaking his head with a wry smile, Xie Xie stopped giving Wulin fuel and simply followed along with a pout.
"Don't call him your child. I'm not accepting custody of that fool." Shooting Xie Xie a blank stare Gu Yuena blandly spoke to Wulin. Clicking his tongue and raising the bird the Jade Shadow shook his head with an infuriating grin.
"I wouldn't want a mother like you either." Sending a defiant grin her way Xie Xie met her glare without fear. He knew he couldn't beat her but there were few people better at running away than him. Besides, she wouldn't do anything in a public place like this.
"Alright, fine. Then I want this one instead." Smiling coyly, Wulin spun a short girl with familiar light blue hair around, her widened eyes looking at them innocently yet dangerously for a moment before she eased up at the familiar faces.
"Big sis!" Leaping forward, Xu Xiaoyan giggled like a child as Gu Yuena caught her with open arms and accepted Xu Xiaoyan's borderline assault as she rubbed her soft cheek against Gu Yuena's mountains.
"What happened to me being the favorite?" Raising a brow with an amused smile Wulin only stuck out his tongue at Gu Yuena's victorious smirk. Wulin may have Xu Xiaoyan's respect but Gu Yuena had her admiration. After all, Gu Yuena was the one who taught her the most over the years both in battle and outside of it.
"Don't worry, you're still awesome!" Holding a thumbs up his way Xu Xiaoyan glanced behind her and froze. "Boss your hair!" Rushing over to him the blue haired girl began twirling his golden locks while Wulin sent his partner a smug grin.
"What do you think? Not bad, right?" Ruffling her hair she only giggled, Wulin's already soft grin melting just a bit more. Out of everyone here, Xu Xiaoyan may be the closest to a sibling in his mind. Gu Yuena was technically his sibling but she was more of a partner and Xie Xie was a best friend more than a brother. He was a close second though. Or third, now that she was here.
"Look at you guys celebrating without me." Standing flamboyantly with her arms crossed, Mu Xi drew all their attention effortlessly. Placing her hand on Wulin's head she roughly messed with his hair with a playful grin. "It's been a while, Teach. Did you miss me?"
"How could I not miss my prized pupil? Still, I have noticed that my life has been a bit quieter without you around." Teasing Mu Xi with a grin, Wulin only laughed as she wrapped her arm around his neck and pulled him close. At her level, she couldn't even make him lightheaded though that wasn't really her strong suit anyway.
"Looks like your training was fruitful. That heat is unrecognizable." Haughtily speaking to Mu Xi, a look of recognition flashed in Gu Yuena's eyes. For somebody who could control all the elements at the highest level, that was incredibly high praise.
"You haven't seen anything yet. You may have gotten comfy on that throne of yours but I'll be the one sitting at the top this time." Smirking proudly the heat surrounding Mu Xi only grew more noticeable, the subtle yet controlled blaze glaring up in response to her emotions. She wasn't even trying to intimidate Gu Yuena, her control over fire had simply grown immensely.
"Oh?" Raising a brow with an almost feral sense of eagerness in her eyes, Gu Yuena was both insulted and amused. After all, she had just been told that a young lady would dethrone the Silver Dragon Emperor. How could she not be interested?
"Just forget I'm here, why don't you?" Muttering under his breath and rolling his eyes, Xie Xie was once more left out of the fun.
