Chapter 130: Sudsy Sermon
"You know, you can rely on us more." Running her hands through his shockingly soft golden locks of hair, Gu Yuena spoke slowly. She understood his thought process all too well but shouldering the burden alone wasn't how he should live his life.
"I did give Seto and Imort a task for that reason, you know." Replying with his eyes closed, Wulin had the feeling that he didn't want to see Gu Yuena's expression right now. Logically he knew she wouldn't be too upset and would actually be worried about him but, honestly, he felt scared even still. If she looked at him with scorn, he didn't know how he'd react.
"You know that's not what I meant." Scoffing lightly Gu Yuena lightly poked his head to get it through his thick skull. "The spatial anomaly is an issue that had to be solved, you made the right choice there even if I don't like it. But you do things like this too readily. It doesn't have to be me, but really on people more. Are we that untrustworthy?"
"...Isn't it better for one person to be injured so the rest stay healthy?" Sighing heavily at her partner's response, Gu Yuena rested her chin on his head ignoring the fact that it pressed her breasts against his back.
"Logically, maybe that's true but the world doesn't run on logic. Isn't that why we can be connected like this even though we should be devouring each other?" Gently caressing his body, Gu Yuena felt like she could feel the scars that should be on his skin. If it weren't for his regeneration, he would surely be covered in them.
Wulin pushed himself too hard every time. She didn't even have to be by his side during these three weeks to know he did it again. Sometimes, that was inevitable, and as much as she didn't like it that was just how the world worked.
But there were plenty of times there were other choices that led to the same result. Sure they were harder and more dangerous but sometimes that was better. Sometimes, Wulin didn't have to sacrifice himself for others. Sometimes, they could help protect him.
"Xie Xie is a good guy. A bit silly and reckless but he's a good friend, don't you think?" Looking down at her partner, the Silver Dragon Emperor smiled softly at his small nod. "And what if you had to watch as he tore his body apart to protect you time and time again? Would you say it's a worthwhile trade then?"
Pursing his lips, Wulin clearly didn't like the idea of it. Really, nobody would like to see their friend in danger. Even if it was the logical choice, it wasn't the right choice. That was what Gu Yuena wanted him to realize.
"…I see your point." Sighing heavily Wulin didn't exactly agree but ultimately he knew he was incorrect. If it wasn't alright for Xie Xie to throw himself in harm's way, why was it okay for him to do the same?
"As long as you know." Giggling softly Gu Yuena gently kissed his forehead, his soapy golden locks as soft as silk in between his fingers. Opening his eyes with yet another sigh, not even Wulin could stop the smile that graced his features at Gu Yuena's warm eyes.
"Why would somebody like you love an idiot like me." Raising a hand with equally warm eyes, Wulin gently cupped her cheek. Leaning into his touch, Gu Yuena closed her eyes for a moment as she embraced the fleeting moment. As always, she was perfection personified.
"Because an idiot like you would never dare to leave me." Scoffing in mock disdain, Gu Yuena didn't mind that he turned around and embraced her fully. There were no layers separating them and so they could feel each other's beating heart, his powerful yet muted pulsing and her gentle yet commanding beat. It was at moments like these that they truly felt whole.
"You're so adorable." Gently suckling her neck, a prominent hickey was left on her skin as he kissed her reddened skin. Stifling a strange sound that threatened to leak from her lips Gu Yuena looked at him with hazy eyes as he slowly trailed lower.
Hugging her torso closely his hands hovered oh so closely to her bulging bottom, his powerful arms wrapped around his chest. Pressing his head between her budding breasts his kisses stopped, the desire he felt was palpable yet the desire to keep their promise intact kept him from taking things too far.
"Why can't we grow up faster?" The thought had never once crossed Wulin's mind since he was once an adult and yet now he wanted nothing more than to become an adult once again. She had that effect on him. She made him always want more, to wish for the future they shared together to come even sooner despite it already being here. He just wanted… her.
"Time passes at the pace it desires and nobody can change that. But that doesn't mean we can't enjoy ourselves beforehand." Smiling warmly, Wulin felt the oxygen leave his lips at her beauty once again. "If I remember correctly, you promised me eight days of cuddling."
"Don't threaten me with a good time." Chuckling softly, Wulin didn't feel like pointing out that she had added a day to his offer. He had underestimated how quickly he would miss her so an extra day sounded just right to him.
"Who said it was a threat? You seem to be getting a little too sassy for my idiot half." Pushing him off of her, Gu Yuena pretended to pout for a moment before exploding with melodious laughter. Pulling him in closer she embraced him closely, the pressing of skin oddly addicting.
It was strange. She was so old and yet her feelings for the young boy before her made her feel like the world itself had changed color. It truly made her wonder, had she truly been living until she had met him?
It wasn't just having a rival, an equal to stand beside you and share your worries, it was having a friend who could light up the way for you. He paved the path for her to pursue coexistence between humanity and spirit beasts and in turn. If it were a few years ago, she would have thought she was a fool but she truly believed she could do it with him at her side.
"Why don't we head to bed? Everything can wait until tomorrow, don't you think?" Drying them in an instant, Gu Yuena pulled him to his feet with a smile. She didn't even have to wait for a response, the eagerness in his eyes was all the answer she needed.
Unfortunately, 'tomorrow' never came.

Hey there, hope you liked the chapter.
Pretty wholesome chapter if I do say so myself except for that last line. I wonder what that could mean? I mean, isn't there always going to be a tomorrow? Especially now that there is some kind of parallel world thing going on, right? Well, who knows~!
