Douluo Dalu 2: Heavenly Eyed Douluo

Taking down the other ten thousand year old soul beasts was easy work compared to dealing with the Dark Gold Terror Claw Bear. Huo Yuhao gathered all the bodies of the soul beasts and stacked them together, their black soul rings floating above their carcasses made for a gruesome and terrifying scene for both human and soul beast kind.

These were 10,000 year old soul beasts! The weakest amongst this pile was at least the level of a Soul Emperor and the strongest being an average Titled Douluo. Anyone would think that a top level expert, at least a Titled Douluo, would have done this.

But no, it was just a kid who hadn't even absorb his fifth soul ring yet.

Huo Yuhao raised his hand, the Eternal Eye on his forehead began to exude a otherworldly aura.

'Preta Path—'

'Yuhao, I recommend that you don't do that for now.'

Huo Yuhao frowned, subconsciously lowering his hand, hearing Skydream's voice. 'Why not? Wouldn't this benefit us more? If I can possibly absorb their soul rings, adding their essence into my own set, then I wouldn't have to use up all of your sealed origin power.'

Skydream explained, 'Yuhao, absorbing soul rings in order to raise one's cultivation isn't a rare case in the soul beast world. There's a sort of species belonging to the 'Devour' category that has such a innate skill, however, I've heard that those soul beasts who devour the essence(soul rings) of soul beasts would have terrible endings—having earned ire of the heavens.'

'I might earn the ire of the heavens?' Huo Yuhao frowned, looking up at the sky.

Skydream bitterly chuckled. 'That's right. Whether it be human or soul beast, the heavens are not fair. If you absorb these soul rings, you might encounter a heavenly tribulation.'

Huo Yuhao's eyes widened.

A heavenly tribulation, a phenomenon that fills every 99,999 year old soul beasts with dread. The most terrifying and painful experience, to every 100,000 year old soul beast, all of soul land; which occurs when a soul beast reaches the age/cultivation of 100,000 years old.

And the power of a heavenly tribulation varies between soul beasts: but it's typically less than a 30% chance of survival! As most die from the pain itself than the injuries they sustained during the tribulation.

However, most horrifying of all, that chance of survival drops every time they reach another 100,000 years of cultivation.

Since Huo Yuhao was human, his heavenly tribulation was certainly going to be extremely harder than soul beasts'.

Huo Yuhao contemplated about it for a moment and shook his head. "Although the chances of such possibility happening is high, I won't count on it. The life of a soul master, especially one set on becoming a God, would always be filled with risks."

His red-golden eyes gleamed with determination as he clenched his fist, proclaiming under his breath, "If I fear the heavens' ire, then I might as well give up on my path now! For my ambition, for the wishes of others, and for my future! I will fight for it, even if I have to battle through the heavens and slay those who rule over it."

Skydream had tears in his eyes, wiping them off, he didn't say anything else and let Huo Yuhao make his decision. He had followed Yuhao for a long time now and knew that once he had set his mind on something, no force in the world could change it.

"Besides. What are the chances of it actually happening?"

Huo Yuhao turned his gaze back to the fallen soul beasts.

By his estimations, with his spiritual power and physique strengthen by Ultimate Ice-Fire, he could confidently support a hundred thousand year old soul ring without any issue. However, just this pile of soul beasts wouldn't be able to break through to a hundred thousand year old mark and he just hopes that it could bring his soul rings near the next stage.

His Eternal Eye shone a grey light, exuding incomprehensible presence. The air around him trembled slightly as he activated the Preta Path, a force capable of absorbing all limitless energies in the universe.

One by one, the ten-thousand-year soul rings above the fallen beasts began to tremble before being drawn toward Huo Yuhao.

His three black soul rings slowly and gradually started getting darker, exuding strong pulses of powerful pressure. The bodies of the soul beasts suddenly started turning motes of white light, their bodies weren't spared either during the absorption process.

'Hm? That is...' Huo Yuhao quickly noticed a bright glint in the dissipating corpses and quickly grabbed the strange item using Controlling Crane, Capturing Dragon technique into his palm.

He stared at it. It was a strange bone.

This bone was dark gold, and intense undulations of soul power emanated from it. It was a soul bone, but this soul bone was different from conventional right arm soul bones. To be precise, it was a right palm bone with 3 long golden blade-claws as dark golden halos revolved around it.

'A soul bone? Wait, I've heard about this!'

One of his clones had stumbled across a memoir from an elder from centuries past; that detailed further information about Dark Gold Terror Claw Bears.

According to the notes in the memoir about the soul bones they leave behind: the most important and powerful are their arms, specifically, their claws! The arm bones have offensive capabilities like the terrorclaws, while the rest—while still good—only bolstered one's defensive capabilities. But neither the left nor right arm bones' terrorclaw soul skills were even able to come close to matching the real Dark Gold Terror Claw Bear's claws' might.

The memoir noted that an expert called the Darkleft Douluo had acquired a Dark Gold Terror Claw Bear's left claw, who became a renowned soul master after only a few years due to the palm bone's soul skill developing to equal the might of a true Dark Gold Terror Claw Bear!

Huo Yuhao frowned and narrowing his gaze at the dark gold soul bone, especially its 3 long blade-claws. "Strange. Although it looks like it's damage, since its missing 2 claws, the flow of energy within it doesn't seem to be unstable. Hmm. I'll store it in my Eternal Eye for a while, the life energy within it would stabilize the soul bone and I'm sure teacher would help fix any irregularities."

He then placed the dark golden soul bone against his forehead, transporting it into his second spiritual sea.

Time passed by quickly, in just less than half an hour, all the soul rings and the carcasses had all disappeared.

"Well this looks pretty cool." Huo Yuhao stood there, smirking as he gazed at the three deep-black soul rings with the edges having red hues—signifying its near breakthrough to their next big evolution.

"Three 99,999 year old soul rings. I wonder just how strong my soul skills has become, moreover, do they develop a second soul skill?"

Closing his eyes, Huo Yuhao spread his senses over his soul rings and started analyzing the soul skills engraved within them.

Shiiing—

'What the?' Huo Yuhao's eyes snapped opened wide, feeling a deep sense of unease. His Eternal Eye almost popped out, its black rings trembling in terror and a vision abruptly appeared in his mind.

Lightning. Dozens of them! Skydream, Ice Empress, and Snow Empress were stunned. Ice Empress estimated that they all had the strength equal to the heavenly tribulation of what she had experienced when she became 100,000 years old!

'W-What was tha—No, questions later! I need to prepare myself!' Huo Yuhao's face was quickly drained of all colors when he saw a large dark cloud appearing above him—the sound of thunderous booms echoing through the sky.

A heavenly tribulation—and not just any ordinary one. This was a Great Beast-level tribulation, something not even average Titled Douluos could ever handle.

'Damn it! I actually angered the heavens?!' Huo Yuhao gritted his teeth, immediately activating his Mangekyou Sharingan; he had no plans of escaping it, but the truth was—he can't escape.

Before the trial and punishment of the heavens, there was no path of escape except facing it head-on!

To live or to die.

He then immediately summoned his Susanoo, however, this one was different compared to before.

It seemed to have developed skin, glowing golden eyes, and wore clothing similar to robes. With a slight movement with its right arm, grabbing something to its empty left sleeve, it pulled its arm back to reveal a long, glowing bright blue katana.

The sword had no name, yet. Almost all users of the Susanoo would be equipped with some sort of divine weapon or armor, manifested through unknown means. Unfortunately however, Huo Yuhao's divine weapon was incomplete and was utterly useless in this struggle for survival — well except for being an extra shield.

"More...power...!" Huo Yuhao muttered through gritted teeth, his eyes beginning to bleed heavily. A bright red soul ring with four golden strands appeared alongside his four soul rings, jade-green ice scorpion pincers appeared over his right arm.

Large ice-jade crystals appeared all over his Susanoo like a suit of armor, radiating an icy, regal aura that exuded Ultimate Ice temperatures. The Ice Jade Empress Scorpion's power merged with his Susanoo, reinforcing it to an extreme degree.

"Preta Path!" The Eternal Eye shone brightly at that moment.

Krackakooom!

The first lightning bolt, bright blow, struck down ruthlessly upon the large Susanoo.

In an instant, the land blasted into smithereens—turning the once lush area into a complete wasteland of death, traces of heavenly lightning surged throughout the land; forever changing its ecosystem for the next few centuries. Only those with the affinity of lightning could ever walked on this scorched earth.

A large crater, the size of a lake—a lonely, large and blue Susanoo; with clear damages across its surfaces, stood imposingly in the middle.

"Haaa....Haaa...." Huo Yuhao breathed heavily, his eyes looking a bit hazy. He ignored the cries of his friends in his spiritual sea, knowing they couldn't do anything to help him and could only implicate him further if they helped.

"Must...hold....on....!"

He quickly began to try and repair the Susanoo before—

Krackakooom!

The second lightning bolt struck down, much more powerful compared to the last—shaking the entire forest, chains of explosive green lightning bolts, scattered for several miles and brought devastation.

Huo Yuhao gritted his teeth, his Mangekyou Sharingan spinning wildly as he read the trajectory of the heavenly punishment. His Susanoo raised its crystalline blade to intercept—

CRACK!

The entire world flashed bright green as the sword shattered, and his Susanoo showed even more cracks than before. Huo Yuhao felt his body burning, his skin charred black as blood oozed from his mouth.

But he didn't collapse. His natural regeneration surged forth, repairing the wounds gradually.

The sounds of bellowing thunder resounded like a dragon's roar once more.

"....Don't I get any break?" Huo Yuhao muttered, his lips twitching at the surging third crimson lightning bolts in the dark clouds above, flickering around like snakes.

"How interesting."

From a tree branch, a couple of kilometers away from where Huo Yuhao was undergoing a heavenly punishment, three blood-red eyes stared intently at his location.

The distorted threads of fate and destiny began to slightly unwoven itself.
