Chapter 10: Chapter 9: Getting a Room with Tang Ya, Tang Ya Becoming an Evil Soul Master?
Tang Ya blushed, her face flushed with shyness.
Qian Ran's remark made her immediately understand his meaning. This guy might be young, but was he really that... big? She didn't believe it—unless she saw for herself. No, no, what was she even thinking?
"Ya Ya, how about treating me to a meal? I don't have any money on me."
"Hmph. Fine, I can treat you, but only if you join the Tang Sect. I'll even give you a monthly salary—how's that?" Tang Ya's bright eyes sparkled with excitement. She knew Qian Ran was a genius, and the Tang Sect needed someone of his caliber to revive its strength.
"Ya Ya, why do you keep trying to recruit me into the Tang Sect? You're a talent yourself, so you can support the Tang Sect on your own. I'm just lazy, and I wouldn't be much help."
"Talen? Me? My martial spirit is Blue Silver Grass, one of the weakest there is," Tang Ya replied, disheartened. Because her martial spirit was so weak, she always felt left behind as those around her grew stronger. She had come to Shrek Academy out of a desperate desire for revenge, but her spirit made cultivation difficult.
All she wanted was to avenge her parents, but even she doubted her abilities.
If only she had the same talent as Bei Bei or Nan Nan, she wouldn't have to humble herself to seek help from others.
She bit her lip and lowered her eyes, suddenly seeming small and fragile.
In that moment, Qian Ran felt his heart soften. Tang Ya was indeed pitiful. She'd sought revenge but ultimately fell into darkness. All the while, Bei Bei was preoccupied with romance, oblivious to her true desires. Even when Tang Ya went off alone to pursue revenge, Bei Bei didn't notice.
He never considered what dangers she would face on her own, as a Soul Elder, against a powerful sect. Tang Ya's despair likely led her to the dark path she eventually followed.
All Tang Ya wanted was revenge.
While Bei Bei couldn't give her the strength she needed, Qian Ran could.
"As a matter of fact, Blue Silver Grass isn't weak at all. And Ya Ya, your Blue Silver Grass isn't ordinary," Qian Ran remarked with a glint in his eye. If he helped her unlock her true strength... well, nothing comes free. He'd be sure to get something in return.
He was confident he'd win Tang Ya over. Soon enough, he'd be able to enjoy life with her by his side.
Tang Ya was a beautiful and gentle girl, after all.
"What do you mean, Qian Ran? Is there actually a powerful form of Blue Silver Grass?" Tang Ya asked, astonished.
"Ya Ya, your martial spirit is strong; it's just that you haven't unlocked its full potential," Qian Ran explained calmly.
The day her sect was destroyed, her parents killed before her eyes, her Blue Silver Grass martial spirit had awakened a dark attribute. However, it hadn't fully manifested yet; it would only emerge completely once she reached a point of total despair.
In the original story, Tang Ya went for revenge alone despite only being at the Soul Elder level. She was defeated, and as her despair deepened, her dark Blue Silver Grass took over, allowing her to devour others' life force—a terrifying, yet malevolent, power that led to her downfall. Eventually, the Holy Spirit Sect found her, and she became one of their saints.
But Qian Ran could help Tang Ya awaken her dark Blue Silver Grass without corrupting her mind.
The process was simple enough: by using his holy Six-Winged Angel spirit to protect her Sea of Spirit, he could shield her from the corrupting influence of the dark power. And if he wasn't enough, there was always Qian Renxue. If Tang Ya fell to darkness under their watch, they could forget about taking on Tang San.
"Really? Can I truly become strong?" Tang Ya asked, hesitant but hopeful. Although she usually appeared confident, deep down, she was insecure. Her weak abilities made her a burden, and each year she struggled to pass her academy exams despite giving her all.
"Of course you can. It just depends on whether you're willing to seek out that kind of power."
"I'll do whatever it takes to grow stronger," Tang Ya replied firmly, her eyes glinting with determination.
"Let me buy you dinner first. We can talk as we eat," she said, already eager to bring Qian Ran somewhere more private to discuss things in detail. But she knew she couldn't rush it.
"Alright. Once we're done, let's find a private place to talk. It's too public out here," Qian Ran nodded.
"Good idea," Tang Ya agreed.
After a quick meal, Tang Ya grabbed Qian Ran's hand and led him to a nearby hotel, booking a room.
Inside the luxurious room, Tang Ya held onto Qian Ran's hand, her cheeks tinged pink.
It was the first time she'd brought a guy to a hotel room. Even though it was for serious matters, she couldn't help but feel a little flustered.
She could also feel Qian Ran's gaze on her. He wasn't exactly subtle.
Tang Ya perched on the edge of the bed, looking charming in her Shrek Academy uniform, her hair falling loosely over her shoulders. She was the epitome of a beautiful young student.
As Qian Ran watched her, he couldn't help but smile.
It was a couples' hotel, after all—no surprise, since the area around the academy was full of such places.
The bed was huge.
If he were to just go ahead and push Tang Ya down… no, he wasn't that type of person.
He was a gentleman. No improper thoughts would cross his mind.
At that moment, he was only focused on helping this girl, an orphan with a heavy heart, with no other intentions in mind.
"Have you stared enough?" Tang Ya's face flushed red. As carefree as she was, she was still a girl. Alone in a hotel room with Qian Ran, she felt her shyness taking over. She regretted bringing him to a room now—it was embarrassing. The privacy, however, meant no one would know what she and Qian Ran were up to.
"I could never get enough," Qian Ran said, his gaze drifting down to her long, graceful legs, a smile on his face.
"Alright, enough! Just tell me what's going on," Tang Ya's heart raced under Qian Ran's gaze. Even with Bei Bei, she had never felt her heart beat like this.
"Tang Ya, could you release your martial spirit?" Qian Ran wanted to confirm his suspicion about her spirit.
"Okay," Tang Ya agreed, summoning her spirit as two yellow and one purple ring appeared beneath her.
Qian Ran's expression turned serious as he carefully observed her spirit. If there were even a hint of dark energy, he would help her fully awaken it.
"So, it's true... I wasn't wrong," Qian Ran smiled.
