Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Who Dares Provoke This Little Princess Now?
At this point, Flender felt trapped, unable to back down yet hesitant to escalate further. With the situation completely flipped, any additional criticism of Ning Rongrong would only make matters worse.
After some thought, Flender opted for a softer approach.
"Well, uh… does having lower soul power than them count?"
Ning Rongrong was stunned.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Whether my soul power matches theirs is one thing," she countered, her voice sharp. "But even if my soul power is lower, how does that disgrace my clan?"
Convinced Flender was mocking her, she bristled with indignation.
Flender, the wily veteran, deftly shifted the topic.
"What I said earlier about disgracing your clan was a bit over the top," he admitted. "But you are wasting your talent."
"Take Ma Hongjun, for instance. He's about your age and joined Shrek Academy at eleven. Despite the flaws in his martial soul, his variant is one of the continent's top-tier beast martial souls. In terms of innate quality, few can surpass him."
"His soul power is on par with yours, and that's while devoting significant effort to addressing his martial soul's deficiencies."
"Then there's Zhu Zhuqing. Although her innate soul power is lower than yours, her determination to improve has pushed her soul power past yours."
"As for Yun Feng, there's nothing more I need to say, and you've already witnessed Dai Mubai's strength."
"And finally, Oscar—he's the only innate full soul power food system soul master in the entire continent!"
Hearing this, Ning Rongrong couldn't help but feel a pang of inadequacy.
Compared to these individuals, it seemed like she had been squandering her gifts.
She'd grown up surrounded by protection and praise, convinced she was unmatched in both talent and potential. Even now, she attributed her limited strength solely to her young age.
But the stark contrast to her peers hit hard.
While she grappled with these thoughts, Xiao Wu stepped forward, her voice light and cheerful.
"Rongrong, there's no need to feel so down. The gap between us isn't as big as it seems—you're just lagging behind Yun Feng."
"And you're certainly not at the bottom of the pack. Tang San's soul power is lower than yours, after all!"
Ning Rongrong's mood visibly improved.
Like many, she instinctively sought solace in comparisons to those who were worse off, and Xiao Wu's words offered a small comfort.
Still, Flender's earlier comments lingered like daggers in her mind, shattering her pride. She forced a smile, thanked Yun Feng and the others for their support, and left quietly.
She might have a fiery temper, but she wasn't without basic courtesy. She knew Yun Feng had stood up for her and Xiao Wu had tried to console her.
As Ning Rongrong walked away, Dai Mubai turned to Flender, visibly annoyed.
"Dean, should I still pack her belongings?"
The question drew incredulous stares from everyone, as if Dai Mubai were some sort of alien creature.
Flender glared at him, unfiltered exasperation in his voice.
"Are you out of your mind? Do you have a death wish? I wouldn't dare provoke her right now!"
Dai Mubai, being a prince, understood all too well the terrifying power of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan.
Across the Douluo Continent, the total number of titled douluo barely reached double digits, and the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan boasted two of them.
(Of course, this count reflects Dai Mubai's knowledge.)
Their influence was so immense that even the royal families of the two great empires treated the clan leader with utmost respect.
As the clan's beloved little princess, Ning Rongrong had stunned Dai Mubai with her sheer audacity. Flender's initial audacity, followed by his apology, only left Dai Mubai even more in awe of the dean's nerve.
With the situation diffused, Flender turned his attention to Yun Feng, casting a quick glance his way before sighing.
"Enough talk. Let's begin tonight's training. Follow me."
With a light push off the ground, Flender soared ahead, heading toward the outskirts of the academy.
The group hurried after him.
Flender maintained a brisk pace, and the differences in strength among the students quickly became evident. Yun Feng, with the deepest soul power, stayed right behind him, followed by Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing.
Xiao Wu held the fourth spot, with Ma Hongjun and Tang San trailing at the rear.
For Yun Feng, this level of training was utterly meaningless. Feeling bored, he activated his third soul skill, wings sprouting from his back, and flew up to Flender.
After confirming the destination, he flapped his wings and sped toward Soto City.
Soto City's gates remained open around the clock. Even at night, the city was alive with activity, its streets bustling more than during the day.
Shops lining the roads were brightly lit, and nighttime vendors had set up stalls selling snacks and trinkets.
After grabbing some food, Yun Feng leisurely waited for the rest of the group.
Half an hour later, they finally arrived, all looking various shades of exhausted.
Xiao Wu, thrilled to explore the city, eagerly examined everything around her. She stopped frequently to admire trinkets, her excitement barely contained.
Zhu Zhuqing remained cold and detached, her gaze fixed solely on Yun Feng as if the lively streets had no effect on her.
Dai Mubai's focus, however, was entirely on Zhu Zhuqing, his eyes burning with suppressed anger.
Ma Hongjun, meanwhile, was overwhelmed. Unlike Xiao Wu, who found joy in the little things, his eyes roved wildly, seeking out the most curvaceous women in sight.
From six to sixty years old, no one escaped his ogling. At the sight of a particularly well-endowed figure, he audibly gulped.
Fortunately, he was at the back of the group, sparing himself from the others' scrutiny.
Still, his loud swallowing noises did not go unnoticed.
Flender, now beside Yun Feng, hesitated briefly before speaking.
"So, what do you think of Shrek Academy?"
