Chapter 758: Chapter 761: DNA Identification Results (Additional 3)
David Redington excitedly held Lily Gray’s shoulders and made her look at him.
“Look, my eyes, they are also blue.”
“My father too has a pair of blue eyes.”
“So, if you are my biological sister, my father’s biological daughter, you would also carry the blue eye recessive gene. And recessive genes, can be inherited across generations. This would perfectly explain why both kids have blue eyes.”
He no longer wanted to keep it a secret, nor did he want to wait any longer.
David Redington hesitated no more and revealed the truth.
When speaking, his clear and pleasant voice contained an uncontrollable tremble.
The usually calm and fearless Mr. Redington, at this moment, could hardly control his urge to shed a man’s tears.
He had always thought that his sister, who supposedly died young, had not only survived but had been right in front of him all this time.
How could he not be excited!
However, after the initial shock, Lily Gray didn’t respond in the way he expected.
She didn’t throw herself into his arms, embrace him, and excitedly call him brother like a reunited family member.
She just took several deep breaths, then raised her eyes and looked at him with steady calm.
“Evidence.”
“What?” David Redington was taken aback.
“I said, evidence. Evidence proving the blood relationship between you and me. Have you done a DNA test?” Lily Gray asked calmly.
David Redington’s eyes dimmed.
He thought that Lily, upon learning everything, would embrace him with surprise and delight like she did Oliver Ford, and from then on, she would rely on him and trust him.
But he didn’t expect…
“I have. I started to become suspicious about your identity when I saw your baby’s unusual eye color after you left the delivery room. I asked Dr. Rachel Geller to take your and my DNA samples while you were asleep.”
“What’s the result?” Her voice was terrifyingly calm.
David Redington wanted to say something to ease the tension, but when he saw the cold waves in her peach blossom eyes, he had no choice but to give up.
He sighed and continued to explain.
“The identification results show that the difference between my DNA sequence and yours is very small, with a high degree of homology. Such a sequence is impossible to occur between cousins. So, you and I are one hundred percent siblings. As for your two kids, fearing you might worry that we swapped the babies, I also did the identification for them. They are all your biological children; you can rest assured.”
David Redington turned and took the identification results from Dr. Rachel Geller who had just come in, and handed it to Lily Gray.
Lily Gray opened it and glanced at it, finding that she couldn’t understand most of the symbols and so she closed it.
However, she looked at David Redington and said, “As for the babies, I don’t need you to tell me, they are my own children, I can feel it.”
“As for me and you…” she pursed her lips, “I want to meet your biological parents first.”
She used ‘your biological parents’ instead of ‘my biological parents’.
It showed that she didn’t trust the relationship between herself and the Duke and Duchess Redington.
“Lily, trust me. As soon as you see our mother, you’ll realize that you and her are more like mother and daughter than you and Bella Scott.”
David Redington lowered his head, furrowing his brow as though recalling.
“I never understood in the past why I couldn’t bring myself to hate or dislike you even though I should have. But now I understand – it’s because of your peach blossom eyes.”
“At first glance, you might think your eyes resemble Bella Scott’s. But if you don’t let conventional thinking influence you, you’ll realize… your eyes are exactly the same as our mother’s.”
